Waking up @ 05:50 pm

[info]goesbothways:

Kelly blinks awake. She can tell something is wrong immediately.

No, its not that she's strapped to a table. That's a little weird, but mostly only because she's pretty sure she didn't bring anyone home. Quite sure, in fact. That, and she usually does the tying, but hey, for the right gun dealer or sniper, she'll switch now and then. Like that CIA chick she had to distract for a weekend. That was a fun assignment.

No, that's not it.

Her guns, she can't feel her guns. Ok, that's a moment of panic, but one she's dealt with. Kind of like the time she's woken up after demolitions assignments gone wrong unable to feel her legs, except more traumatic. Legs grow back. But they've punished her for borderline insubordination towards Nick and others when she mouthed off by taking her guns for a few days. So she could cope, and its a different kind of wrong.

They... they... yeah, that's it. They're not in her brain anymore.

No urge to salute anyone, except maybe with a middle finger. No one she'd feel any need to obey if they told her not to streak Grand Central wearing nothing but two ammo belts and a heavy machinegun. Huh... maybe later.

Ok, so something snapped Weapon X out of her brain. Now to try and figure out where she actually is. She doesn't even bother worrying about the straps and all, just glancing about, smelling the air, and otherwise trying to get some context clues, starting with determining its some kind of medical facility.

Hmm, maybe someone finally donated her body to science fiction? Sure, she's still using it, but its a good cause.

Shattered: @ 06:21 pm

[info]shattered:

She's been sleeping a long time. Exactly how long, she's not sure.

But her dreams have not been peaceful. She remembers the pale man with the red jewel in his forehead. She remembers the blue and gray man.

She remembers the blood. The slaughter. Slashing and cutting. Hunting and killing.

And, worst of all, she remembers enjoying it.

The glass shards flash. The blood flows. The blue man laughs, a deep, booming laugh...

Abruptly, she sits up, screaming, tears running down her face, her sheets soaked in sweat. She doesn't know where she is. Strangers are all around her.

She looks at the people nearby, and screams again, terrified.

[info]nextgen_deviant:

The cursed Eternals had been defeated. The cities of Olympia and Polaria were now occupied by deviants. Scientists and engineers were going through the city and studying every piece of technology they could fine. They still had to access the computers, but they would in time. Their victory over their ancient enemy was almost complete.

Almost.

The Eternals had escaped to Titan with their brethren. The deviants had no means of travel available to them to get to the accursed Eternals, but they had a plan. If they could not go themselves, they could send others in their place. Others who would be welcomed with open arms and who would be the downfall of the Eternals.

The priests had been conducting a ritual for the past day. There had been a shake up in Hell and they would resurrect the Eternals that had been killed in Thanos' attack on Titan. The ritual would corrupt their souls and the Eternals would serve the deviants and wipe out their brethren.

It was the perfect plan.

The chanting of the priests rose. In another few hours the ritual would be done and the resurrected Eternals would be on their way to destroy the others.

The Deal @ 08:54 pm

[info]word_of_law:

Thus far, Avery Crittenden had enjoyed spending time with his newfound little girl. Zoey was bright, talented and outright amazing, and it made Avery proud to be able to say that she was his daughter. He called every other night, work permitting,  to speak with her and tell her good night and that he hoped she slept well. He still hadn't told his parents about her yet, wanting to ease Zoey into getting to know her extended family, but he hoped that she'd come to call them family in time as well.

Today, he was meeting with Sydney to hammer out and finalize the terms of their custody arrangement. Sydney was indeed with the time Zoey could spend with him, but Avery had in mind to ask for a small something extra. He didn't think it was anything Sydney would mind too much, and their previous discussions on where she would go for different holidays helped him come up with a few other ideas on how to set up a good time with Zoey.

Avery and his lawyer/best female friend,Claire Walsh, would arrive at the office of Sydney's lawyer with their papers and requests to be added to the custody agreement. He didn't think he was asking for very much, about sixteen days each apiece, give or take when one of them had work to attend to. Sydney's schedule appeared more flexible than his, though, so his idea might benefit her more.

"Avery, you're being extremely charitable about this whole thing. Honestly, you've got ground to demand join custody and set some of your own terms regarding this situation where your daughter is concerned. Are you sure you don't want me to file that motion for you?" Alexis asks as they enter the building.

"No, Alexis, I don't want you to. It would only hurt Zoey in the long run, and Sydney and I agreed that we can be adults about this. She could have told me to go hell at the start, but she didn't, and I'm not trying to make waves. Zoey is my priority; I've missed too much already and I'm not going to waste anymore time by starting a custody battle." he says.

"You're afraid she's going to sic her friends on you, aren't you?" Alexis asks. "They're a pretty handy deterrent for a lot of things, you have to admit."

"No, I'm not. She wouldn't do that." Avery counted.

He hoped.
