Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"Alice and I grew up in S.H.I.E.L.D. and we've seen it almost every year that I can remember. We used to leave him cookies but we soon learned that he liked a nip of whiskey in hot coffee and a cigar. That's when I learned that people don't realize how much S.H.I.E.L.D. affects every day lives."

She sighed and looked at him. "You should be off your feet. C'mon, I'll walk you back inside."

	Tech smiles sadly. "I envy you, Fury. You grew up with a father that loved and cared for you from he day you were born." He nods as she asks to escort him back to his room. 	"I suppose you're right," she agreed. "I'm lucky to have my parents. If we didn't have my mother, Dad and I wouldn't get along so well." She slowed her steps to match his with the crutches. 	Tech hears the ice and steel in Fury's voice and blinks at her for a moment. For a moment, she reminded him of Jake. Tech realized that, no matter how nice Fury seems, she is an agent and killer first and foremost. "Your conviction is apparent, Fury." he says as they reach his room. "You would guess correctly, Tech."

She paused outside of his room and tried for a smile. The earlier mood was gone, but it wasn't his fault. She'd actually enjoyed a conversation for a little while. "I'll arrange transportation for you when you want to see your brother. Just let me know when you're up for a visit. We don't want your grandmother or brother to think we're not taking good care of you."

Tech felt like a moron. Before he'd asked about her brother and upset her, he'd been enjoying the brief glimpse of the real Fury.

"Oh, Gran makes certain I'm eating enough each day, though don't be surprised if I return with a batch of cookies or brownies after my next trip home." he smiles.

He's about to let her walk away when he decides, mybe against his better judgment, to speak again.

"Fury, if you'd ever like to talk about it...or anything, the first two rounds are on me." Tech says.
