Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

	"He says he has something he wants to say to you." Tech says. "I don't know what it could be. I didn't tell him anything about the team." Tech says quickly. "If you want to leave right now, we can. it smacked of a threat, and she didn't run from threats. No matter what Jake Landon had to say or who backed him, she called bigger, scarier people Aunt and Uncle.

It could be as simple as an older brother asking that she look out for Tech. In any case, she would hear it.

She dug through her bag and came up with the rental keys. "Why don't you go relax in the SUV and I'll be out soon."

	Tech does not like this idea one bit. He loves Jake, but Fury is his friend. However...he also knows that they're both very dangerous people. Jake isn't crazy or stupid, but he still doesn't understand his brother's reasoning. "All right, Fury. I'll wait in the car, but if you're not out in half and hour, I'm coming back in." Tech says. 	"It'll take that long to get through. I wasn't on the schedule." She handed Tech her bag and began a weapon strip. She didn't have the credentials to see a prisoner while armed and was smart enough not to try it. "Take these back with you and leave them in the car, okay? 	It was nearly thirty minutes later that she came face to face through security plexiglass with Jake Landon. She waited for him to pick up the receiver on his side before lifting the one on hers. 	Jake Landon looks Sam Fury in the eyes, and she'll see that his are utterly devoid of emotion or feeling as he watches her. One minute goes by, then two, three and four, before he finally speaks up. "Now that I see you, we're not so different." Jacob says. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"You're using him the way I used him." Jake continues as if she hadn't spoken.

"He trusts you. Jason's not good at telling the good people from the bad ones, but he thinks you're one of the good ones. He'd listen if you told him do something." the elder Landon says, keeping his eyes firmly fixed upon Samantha.

"Keep him from coming back here." Jake says finally. "And don't abuse that trust."

There certainly seems to be an "or else" attached to the end of that.

"You need to do more research on someone before you start issuing orders," she said, still in the same polite tone, meeting his stare. "You don't know me. If you wanted me to keep an eye on your brother, that's all you had to say."

She moved to put the receiver back before changing her mind for one last comment. "I won't stop him from coming here. He's a grown man. He makes his choices, and you provide a good example of where the wrong choices will take him."

	Small minds only saw the small picture. Sammy hung up the receiver and left without a backward glance. By the time she was through security, he was niched into a mental file of small time annoyances. She walked up to the SUV's driver side and tapped on the window. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Landon watches Fury leave and makes a decision. He turns to the guard who is escorting him back to his cell. "Tell your employer I accept his offer." Landon says. The guard nods once, then takes him back to his cell. (Reply to this)(Parent)
