Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

Tech chuckles to himself as she smoothed his his hair down. It had a will of it's own, Gran had said.

"Thank you, Sam. Ah appreciate it. You have a good night." he says, gently tracing along the curve of her jaw with his finger as his courage starts gathering within him.

Finally, he leans in and kisses her gently, but with a definite heat behind it. When the kiss ended, Tech would smile and turn to go.

It was nice having the last word sometimes.

Bemused, Sammy watched him turn away and go to the door across the hall. In her head she had Alice pushing her forward to grab him and draw him back to the bed, but she didn't. It wasn't her. She needed an emotional connection for intimacy. While she liked Tech and felt there was something, it wasn't enough. Yet.

She let him have the last word and left the door ajar so she could hear him in case he needed her in the middle night. The sheets were cool as she climbed in, and the pillows soft when she fluffed them into position. With the TV remote, she was set for several hours of mindless surfing.
