Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

	"If I didn't trust you enough I'd have sent Walker to drive for you," Sammy said. The sun felt good on her skin. She had the urge to stretch and curl up for a nap. "You're my back up and Ah'm yours, Sam. You're my first call, day or night." Jason repeats, taking Sammy's hand.

"Ah'm gonna ask you to back me up. Gran...she says there are some things Ah need to learn tonight, some things that may hurt or scare me. Ah'm not gonna run away from this, because she wouldn't do that. Jake wouldn't. /You/ wouldn't, so Ah won't. But Ah'm gonna need some help." he says quietly.

"Okay, Sam. Ah trust you." he says, just sitting there with her for a bit. This was nice, even for all the bombshells they'd dropped on each other. They were still standing and they had...something.

He would take an undefinable something over a concrete nothing any day.

"How funny is it that we're both so keyed into time that we both have clock tattoos?" he asks, after a long period of silence.

A definite something. Something she could hold on to felt good.

The conversation turn caught her a little by surprise, but she rolled with it. "I thought that earlier when I saw yours. I knew why I was obsessed, but your obsession makes me wonder. Though your questions make more sense now. There's a lot I don't know about temporal manipulation and not a whole lot of people to discuss it."

"Ah drive Gran crazy when Ah fix the clocks in the house. Ah can look at one and know if it's runnin' too slow or too fast. The geared ones, Ah mean. Ah did that to my escort the day we met. He had a nice, shiny new Rolex and Ah could see it was going two seconds slow." Jason says, recounting that day.

"So Ah asked him if Ah could see it and Ah fixed it for him right then and there." Jason says. "Ah always wish there was more time because Ah spend so much of mine creatin' stuff, and it doesn't leave time for anythin' else.

Someday, Ah'll get a hold on what Ah can do, and maybe Ah'll find that extra time Ah'm lookin' for." he says.
