Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"It helped that Stevie Ray wasn't expecting me to do anything. He was waiting for Jason to move and like most big men, he didn't expect it come from me."

Mmmm...bacon. She didn't dip her bacon in her coffee like she had with Jason the last two mornings. She loved the flavor, but that had mainly been to get a reaction out of him.

"Jason...well, he surprises me a lot. In a good way. We're supposed to leave today."

"Well, he and Jake are good people. They take care of the people they love and they don't let anyone keep them from doin' that, which I admire." Jessica says, making herself a plate.

"Aside from that, they love each other. Most brothers are either rivals or just drinkin' buddies...but Jake and Jason were always thick as thieves, since they were all the family they had. I know that Gran took care of them, but...they had to get used to her and their grandfather, too." she says, sitting down to eat.

"I only hope my little baby ends up with a brother he can count on like that." Jess says.

	"I'm sure he will." Sammy could not comment on Jacob Landon. She still thought he needed to be put down. "I know brothers and sisters like that. They will tease and fight between themselves, but outsiders get a solid front." She wondered if either Jason or Evelyn talked to her about coming to New York for awhile. Jessica smiles at the information on boyfriends, though she hopes that this girl isn't leading Jason on. Gran thinks Jason and Sammy would be wonderful together, but Jessica's a little doubtful. FBI agents didn't get involved with criminals unless they were working on a case.

She'd seen that on Law & Order. Or was it CSI? It didn't matter.

"Jason mentioned the other day that you're lookin' to, uh, bring me into custody as well. I need to ask some questions about that." she says.

	"Protective custody," Sammy corrected her with a smile. "Mrs. Landon is worried after what happened at the house, they might come back and she doesn't want you or the baby under stress. "I can try, but I don't know that I'll have any more luck with her than Jason. She's a stubborn woman, Gran is." Jess says. "But she can't stay here all alone."

"But you've got to make sure you give Jason a lot of work to do, or he'll hover all over us until we beg you to let us go come home. He's a worry wart that way. Be warned, in case you get sick or somethin'." she laughs.

	"I hardly ever get sick, but I'll keep that in mind. Don't worry, I can make sure that he has plenty to do." Sammy hoped she said that without a trace of anything that could be misconstrued. Jessica doesn't seem to pick up on anything could have a double meaning.

"Okay, good. I mean, Jason's a sweet boy and everything, but he can get a little controlling when people around him get injured. But let /him/ get hurt and see how much he tries to play it off like he's A-OK and refuse help." Jess says, shaking her head.

"Does he answer your questions with questions, too?" she asks.
