A Strange Quest
Quinn had been thinking about the leprechaun incident and had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time he saw the little annoy creatures. Quinn's magic hadn't been effective and he had to know what to do the next time they came around. Maybe there was a spell or something that would work against them and their magic.

Quinn had to go to the one person who would know about this kind of stuff.

He teleported to 177A Bleecker Street in New York only to find it empty. He wondered where Dr. Strange was.

There was one person who may know. Quinn teleported out to the West Coast and arrived at the front gate of the Defenders.

	"Shelly, I have no defense for my actions. I...was caught up in the moment and I screwed up big time. Maybe we can walk back together and take some time to sort this out. "Matt!" In her singleminded impulse, Marlow missed the cues signifying an /adult/ conversation was going on between the two standing away from the others and approached Shelly and Matt with an easy assurance. She touched Matt's arm in Welcome.

"Excuse me, Dr. Drumm," cue bright smile in Shelly's direction before the smile was turned on Matt. "Can I take Whisper for a turn around the stones? I bet he could use a stretch."

Shelly had opened her mouth to speak (really, Matt, bringing up work when the situation being discussed was more intimate?) when Marlow bounded over and all of her willingness to discuss things with Matt escaped. It took her a moment to actually close her mouth and when she did her jaw set. And she may have glared at Marlow, something slightly jealous in her face.

Matt's head turns at Marlow's call and he almost wants to signal that she Stay Away, but it was sort of hard to deny Marlow. She was a good person and friendly. He could use a little bit of friendly at this moment, because Shelly wasn't exactly radiating warmth.

"Oh yeah, go for it, Marlow. I'm sure he won't mind hanging out with you. It's the whole reason he even agreed to go in the first place." Matt laughs, looking to Shelly.

Oh shit.

The look on Shelly's face was never a good one coming from a magician of any kind.

"Uh, Shelly, have you met Marlow? Marlow, Shelly. Shelly, Marlow. Marlow helped me on a case before. In fact, both of you have, so we all kind of know each other through happenstance." Matt says, trying to get everyone smiling.

This was going to end badly, wasn't it?

Now, Matt has never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but something is /off/ about this whole encounter. He's a detective for a living, but he is faced with two women here, so maybe he gets a pass for Not Quite Getting It.

"Marlow, you should take his lead. He can get kind of excitable. Don't let him run you ragged. Whisper, you be a good boy and obey Marlow. No Mac's if you bite anyone...including the creepy demon chick in red." Matt tells him.

Whisper whines in protest, but goes with Marlow.

Now, Matt turns back to Shelly.

"Okay, so where were we?" he asks with a smile.

Finally.

Matt Walker achieves understanding once he sees Shelly glance after Marlow. And Marlow mentioned they'd met beforehand...

"Oh crap." he says aloud. "Look, you have the wrong idea about me, Shelly. Marlow is just a friend of mine. She and I worked on a case together out in California, the same case that ended up bringing me to Chicago when I ran across you and the others.

We're not dating, though. She's seeing the Hulk! Or...they're just friends. Or something." Matt says, not exactly clear on Marlow's Titan, which he really hoped was not an actual Titan and was really just the Hulk.

"Marlow and I are not doing any connecting." Matt says.

"I have to go pry my dog away from Marlow, because otherwise, he'll run off with her and she doesn't need the hassle. But I think he'll like you.
