Down Is Up, and Up Is Down
The Stark/Romanov Family Dinner. It was a study and exercise in insanity. They were usually loud, chaotic and entertaining to say the least. Natasha wasn't quite sure if she was up for this one or not. Her back was hurting and her ankles and feet were uncomfortably swollen. The good feeling of the second trimester was gone and the uncomfortable third was here. Though she wouldn't back out or tell Tony she didn't want to do it. They would have dinner and be entertained by the kids. Or so she hoped.

Picking a place was key, but this time she opted for Tony to get a private room at Delmonico's. Steak for the carnivores and private so that if things got loud they wouldn't embarrass themselves. And Natasha felt like dressing up a bit.

She had a new dress from Jan, a new pair of shoes and the earrings Tony gave her when she proposed to him.

When she and Tony were ready, he drove them to the restaurant. They even managed to beat the kids there.

"I'm seriously going to hurt you," Anya said to James and may have kicked him under the table. "I'm with Mom. Don't give Dad any ideas. I don't need a babysitter. I'm kind of glad I spilled something on Austin Caine. I may be doing some consulting work for his next movie. Computer stuff."

For the newcomer, Stevie was following this remarkably well. It was... fascinating, to use one of her mom's words. Like watching a trainwreck in progress.

She shrugged. "When I was thirteen, Mom used to show my guy friends what a repulsor blast could do to a watermellon. And then reminded them mellons were a lot like heads. You could always do that. Granted, all it really taught me was never to bring any guys home..."

"To answer your question, I don't sleep much. I get a few hours here and there, but not much at a time."

"Don't give him ideas," Anya warned. "Geez. You guys are just not helping."

"Misha, Stephanie, you two are brilliant! Why didn't I think of either of those before? Thank you, both." Tony smiles.

Of course, Tony doesn't mention that now he'll have to make an LMD to follow Stephanie around, too, but that's okay.

"Speaking of, Anya, is everything going okay down in Boston? Aside from the fact that it's, you know, Boston?" he asks.

Stevie looked at Anya like she had grown two heads. "Now me, I'm pretty much useless without at least eight hours straight."

"...What's wrong with Boston, Not-the-Mama?"

"The Caribbean is nice this time of the year when there isn't a hurricane, though I would recommend Fiji or Tahiti," she told Misha.

"Boston is perfectly fine city," Natasha pointed out. "Tony has issues with it."

"Well, Stephanie, the first problem is that it's Boston. I mean, the crime rate there is atrocious and Anya and M.I.T. are the only things giving that city legitimacy." Tony says, happy to explain his issues with Boston in detail.

"I'd be happy to give you a bit-by-bit of why Boston is terrible, but I have something to ask you first, Stephanie. I happen to have a '65 Chevy Impala frame that I've been meaning to work on a little. By 'a little', I mean build an engine block and things for.

Turns out it's a more than a one-man job, though, and with your sister busy in Boston, it won't get done before the end of the year unless I ignore everything, which isn't going to happen.

Tasha might run off without leaving a note where I can see it. Yes, I'm harping on that, dear." Tony grins at Tasha.

"So maybe, if you've got some time, we can do some work on it together and see if we've got the same ideas when it comes to cars. What do you say?" Tony asks Stephanie.

"According to Dad, the Red Sox are agents of the Devil. Though they were really nice when Steve and I had batting practice with them."

"Boston is fine as always," she said. "Nothing major happening except that Weapon X stuff."

"Nothing wrong with the Red Sox," Stevie said. "For an American League team, anyway. Cubs fan, personally."

Her eyes lit up, however, at the mention of an Impala. Even with her hope that MC or someone would be along soon to take her home, an Impala was an Impala.

Doesn't stop the Stephanie thing from rankling her a bit though.

"I... that sounds awesome," she said. "I'd love to."

"I'm glad to hear that." Tony says, favoring Stephanie with a genuine smile. "Now, to clarify what Anya said.

I do not believe the Red Sox are the agents of the Devil. I don't think Satan, Mephisto or any demonic entity would be fool enough to hire those guys to do anything /important/." Tony says.

"And if they /did/...well, a deal with the Devil might be the only way the Red Sox get a shot at the World Series."
