The Perils of Knowing Stuff (open to Kelly and Melissa)
Not long after her arrival in New York, Beatrice Dayspring was walking down the street to her hotel after handling some business at the local SSI office.

Sometimes she hated 'conveniently' knowing all kinds of things about the people who passed through her Personal Space. That cutie over there had some unfortunate medical conditions, for instance. And the guy who just passed was on heroin, and -- and the two women over there were carrying a total of seven guns, four knives, and not a single permit.

Beatrice couldn't help but slow down to give them a second look.

"I work more with the Wildpack."

Beatrice notes as Kelly skips over every sidewalk crack, every loose rock, every bit of uneven ground.

"Depends on the type of criminal. All our information is good, but anything related to war criminals or the remotely Nazi-esque is better than the rest.... you've got a luck trick." Beatrice's voice goes a little soft at the realization.

	Kelly does a hand-stand, then shifts to walking on her hands, backwards so she can face the slowpokes. C'mon, seriously, there's sugar and coffee waiting. "I get lucky all the time, yep. 	"Well, a vacation couldn't hurt. And if these people are as good as you say they are, then I don't wanna waste them on garbage like King. There's a couple of other people I'd rather know about first." Melissa says, walking alongside Bea. Kelly flips back onto her feet, and drapes her arms around her girlfriend. "Don't go, sweetie. I think its time for..." she pauses dramatically, "Dun dun dun!" she intones, building up the drama... "... dramatic exposition! See, I think Bea here is a mutant with powers that help fill her in on the storyline. Our mother... this is assuming that Nathan, aka Cable... which is a really, really weird codename unless his cybernetic attachments also get reception of all the porn channels... is still banging Neena Thuman, nee Dayspring, aka Domino, a-aka Mommy-with-guns-and-luck-powers. If Nathan, aka Cable, is, indeed, still plugging his electrically powered tab A into her slot B, then Bea would be my half-sister, and I have the tricky decision now of deciding to stop hitting on her, or deciding that my very limited moral compunctions don't include an incest taboo, especially since we're extremely unlikely to produce any three-eyed mutants unless she's packing a secondary mutation we don't know about."

"So wait. You're saying that Bea, here, might be your /sister/? And you've never met said sister before now, and she just /happens/ to find you walking down a street in one of the most random places ever? That's just so wild!" Melissa says, the tone in her voice indicating that it is not, in fact, wild at all.

This sounds like a set up and Melissa is trying to determine which exit is the closest.

"Dad claims the codename was trying to be poetic somehow; it didn't really work," Bea mutters in an attempt to keep her jaw off the sidewalk.

"It's hard to argue with what I'm, getting, but.. well, parents have their times on the outs, but they're not the kind that generally cause one to end up with sisters." Especially sisters with the last name 'Wilson.'

Her parents also didn't raise an idiot. The appearance of the situation is clear. "I live a charmed life," Beatrice sighs. "One to which anyone with half a brain would have certain reasonable reactions. Part ways while we're still not shooting at each other?"

"Hold on, sweetie." Kelly adds, still draped on Melissa. "Remember, I ran into my dad fighting pirates, and there was a lot less chance of that than me and my mutant half-sister both being in New York. And as you'll recall, he and I get on fine... though he's still bugging me about picking him up from the bowling alley. So anyway, I've never met our mother, but she's a probability manipulator. More or less impossible things start getting a lot more probable when she's involved... so this might just be one of those things. Besides, I've always wanted to meet some of the family I've never had... they've missed all my birthdays so far, after all, and I figure they owe me." She nods sagaciously, apparently quite certain on that last part.
"So now that I've discovered that my half-sister is on a Silver Sable paygrade, has a gorgeous ASP and knows how to use it, and I'm on a roll with the dramatic exposition, I think we'd best find a table."

She pauses, glancing around. "Besides, the hazelnut blend here is out of this world."

Melissa still isn't sure Bea doesn't have some kind of set up waiting in the wings, but...if she really is Kelly's sister, does she have a right to take that away from her?

Melissa thinks of her own sister just now, and what she'd do if it was Bree who'd found them instead of Bea. Short of Bree trying to kill her, she'd make any allowance for being able to see her again.

"My bad, Bea. Sorry, I come in two modes most days: moderately suspicious and homicidally paranoid. It's not you, really. It's me." Melissa says, following Kelly to a table.

"I'm just protective of my partner here. I don't want her gettin' hurt or anything." Melissa says.

	"Perfectly understandable," Bea assures her, following with particular care not to get freaked out. "It's a messed up world, and there's plenty to be paranoid about. For the record, I'm not interested in hurting anyone except as an occasionally necessary part of an honest living.... I don't suppose you can get it black with bourbon here?" She could use it. "Pft, no." Kelly replies, before leaving the other two to chat while she goes to get coffee for the three of them.
There's no spiked coffee, but they do have the Turkish blend, aka coffee soup, aka 'could use this as roofing tar' coffee for Bea. She wanted something strong, after all. She has some idea by now of how Mel takes her coffee, and makes sure to get something she guesses her girl will like. Kelly then gets herself something as caffinated as possible, then adds way, way too much sugar and cream to something that would already rival Jolt cola.

"After we've sorted out how in the name of my occasionally deified Aunt Rachel this came to pass? She takes good care of her gear. She was, from a certain point of view, thoughtful and empathetic. I don't know what Mom knows about this, but whatever she knows, she'll get pessimistic the moment the subject comes up. Better to start with the positive than the what-the-%^%^%," she cursed in Askani, pretty much phonetically untranscribable. "And I will admit, she comes across as pretty what-the-%^%^%."

"Oh, she's definitely...what-the-whatever-you-just-squawked." Melissa says with a smile, looking over at Kelly.

"Thing is, she and I are a team in a lot of ways, Bea. So, if your Wild Pack or your mother, or Satellite-Cable-Direct TV-Whatever his name is interested in her, I intend to be there to watch her back." Melissa tells her.

"Besides, we've already lost three of the Golden Girls and I'm not liking Betty White's chances to make it through the end of the year, especially if she and Kelly's dad keep up their little fling. I really don't wanna have to explain to him that Kelly got attacked by crazy people or some such." Melissa tells her.

"But Kelly's one of the best people I know, despite the fact that most people think she's criminally insane. I know different." Melissa says, in a strange way trying to talk her girlfriend up to her sister.

She's already met two members of the family and both of them like guns. This is okay. Mostly.

Bea nods. "Mom's not the kind to try to smother anyone, if such time comes as they'd want to meet. I don't think she and Dad would be interested in each other, and the possibility of looking for work with SSI is just as open to both of you as it was before."

A strange not-quite-twitch crosses Bea's face at the discussion of Kelly's father and Betty White, but she manages to keep it down.

"Not a lot of people like us walking around with a clean bill of psychological health." Although Bea's regularly scheduled psych checks apparently turned up 'refreshingly normal, in light of the circumstances' occasionally.

"Eh, sanity is okay when necessary. The rest of the time, all it is is problematic, especially when dealing with demons." Melissa says offhandedly.

"So, suppose Kelly and I are interested in working with SSI, which we probably are if they pay well. How does this work? A random phone call with a place to meet? Do we work through you or do you recommend us to someone higher up on the chain and they come see us?" Melissa asks.
