The Follow-Up Visit
Vincent knocks at the door to Shanna's apartment. The conversation he needed to have with her could have been done over the phone, but he had an armful of dvds he wanted to loan her anyway. A mix of nature specials and social documentaries, along with the pop culture. It was rather refreshing to watch her take in the world at large. He remembered what it had been like for him when he escaped-- ...when someone helped him escape Latveria.

"I don't think it does. My people see it as a bad omen o have the couch this way. It is a sign that you do not place faith in your guests." She thought he was being cute. He really liked helping people.

He had also been quite understanding of her need to acquire what she called 'wall cloths' to provide a sense of home to the apartment. They were still arguing over color. She wanted to use the burnt orange and violet of her cast.

"Hm. Very well..." He notated a change in the intended floor plan, then went back to debating the colors.

"I still say that something with cool tones is going to be more comfortable in the long run. Bright colors can be energizing in small doses, but they fade more easily as well. Soft blues or greens are a very strong option. Or you can always go minimalist and do things up in black and white."

I must honor that. And hope that I can have the same pride and honor in who I will grow to be," she explains. It's a difficult thing to explain to someone who is a Yak'Kelsvar. An alien. Just like it's hard to accept out here she has no cast. That is worse than being from the Blue.

"I'm deeply sorry if I offended you in any way. In truth, you've acclimated yourself so well for the most part that you merely seem like you're from another country, rather than another planet." Vincent bows his head, then goes to further smooth things over by offering a shoulder massage. They had already moved quite a bit after all.

"I had some similar difficulties when I came to Earth when I was five, and again when I came to America."

Vincent stops, but starts up again, pursing his lips as he lets the amusement pass.

It takes him a minute, and there's some twitching and suppressed laughter, but he maintains composure.

"No, those are not mafia members. They're simply in costume. It's a portrayal of 'Santa Claus', a figure in various cultural folk-tales, along with having some religious significance. The places you saw them were most likely involved in raising funds for charities."

She reads through it. The small amused giggle lets Vincent know that she finds some of this 'cute'.

"Earth children are cute. I can't believe that parents haven't stopped this tradition but it's lovely. We don't celebrate our winters. Our springs are much more important as are the.... aura borialis. We believe it is the dance of the three goddesses. The Matron dies, the Mother becomes the Matron, and the Daughter becomes heavy with child," she explains.

He nods. "I was asking more about if they appear and act with any regularity outside of their domains. For example, Lord Thor and Hercules appear fairly regularly on Earth. They're members of the Asgardian and Olympian pantheons, respectively. They're also prominent members of the Avengers."

He can't help but smile with a little bit of smugness. "My mother and I are actually of Asgard as well."
