Plan B
"This is humiliating!" Vishin shrieked at Draconia, although still outside of arm's reach from the bars of her cell. "We've lost nearly every candidate to this surface dweller's genetically-aberrant tricks, and Lord Kerouac would already have faced him if he weren't otherwise engaged at present. Our only saving grace is that they've all been too shamed to reveal you as their patron.

Still.... we have Kerouac. His house is the highest ranked of any of the candidates, but still..." He fixes his gaze on Draconia, stroking his beard to calm himself. "..He has an unfortunate habit of insisting on fair fights. I will not risk our pl-- I will not risk the future of the Atlantean ruling family on fair odds."

Mason looks up at Jordan. "So, are my lackeys coming with me?" He looks up at Marrina. "Pretty sure you have to be there like usual."

"Can't." Jordan explains. "Its at the same time as proceedings regarding issuing a formal complaint from Canada to Atlantis over all of this, and they want me to be there to explain, yet again, why exactly Atlantis thinks that its ok for their royalty to interfere with Canadian citizens like this. I'm not sure Atlantis cares, but considering the past interactions, Canada was one of the few nations sort of friendly with them... I think they've pretty much blown that, at least til someone new takes over."

Mason cringes. "I... I see."

He sits up, rubbing the back of his head, clearly feeling guilty about apparently bringing Canadian-Atlantean relations into a tailspin. "So... boy, this is a big thing... I... I mean this has really been a pain, but it doesn't need to turn into a crisis."

He's not about to tell his older brother, who has a better head for these kind of political situations anyway, not to do it though.

"I'm going to try and mitigate things somewhat, but Atlanteans were the ones who decided to get behind this - most of the world, even those who still have arranged political marriages, don't support attempted kidnapping and duels to the death over them anymore."

Marrina frowned. "Yeah," she agreed quietly. "I'm sorry this has been such a hassle on all you..."

"Hey, it's not your fault... you just couldn't resist my boyish charms." Mason smiles, kissing Marrina on the cheek.

"But seriously, your people be crazy." He nods grimly.

"Yeah, really not your fault. I am totally behind you dating my brother - its Atlantis that I'm having issues with. We'll deal with it. You just take care of your business."

Marrina smiled. "Well, at least this is the last of them. And I know you'll beat him too."

"For you? I'd beat up Galactus." Mason kisses her again, then goes back to resting his head in her lap.

"Thanks for goin' to bat for me, Jordie. It means a lot to know you'll have my back on the political end of things."
