Sammy was, quite possibly for the first time in months, awake early in a good mood. Coffee was an enhancement rather than a crutch this morning. Her first successful dinner with Qamar had brought up something she hadn't paid much attention to over the summer. She was registered for the fall semester but she hadn't finalized her schedule.

It had to be done. To that end, she was at her favorite coffee shop with her laptop to enjoy the morning and double check her schedule. Funny enough, she was looking forward to going back. The summer off had been just what she needed to give her a boost and refocus her goals.

Just as she asked the waitress for another cup and a second muffin, her cell phone vibrated in pocket. The display was an unfamiliar number. Ordinarily she would have ignored it, but it could be from Mikel at a different number.

She waited for the waitress to leave before answering. "Hello?"

Sammy was, admittedly, a minute late. Not being somebody who took cabs everywhere, she'd taken the subway to 34th and battled the crowded streets to get through.

She spotted Therese outside the main doors and sighed. Bad impression on Mikel's girlfriend to be late. So she paused time to run around the knots of people in her way to get there as quickly as possible.

Time resumed when she was a few yards away. "Therese? Hello," she called.

	Sammy's eyes gleamed. Boots were a weakness. "I once used a pair of spiked heels to discourage an overeager aide at an embassy party Mom and I went attended. But otherwise, I have to agree. Most days it's running shoes for me." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Sammy had just enough time to suggest water balloons for ammo when they were descended upon by a salesclerk. Having enough dress pumps to last her for years, Sammy's attention wasn't on the heels. She checked out a couple of pairs of suede boots. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
