Dark Reflections: Battle In New York
Morning came to New York and with it a brisk wind making it seem colder than it was. The weak winter sun did little to warm things up and a layer of frost covered cars and other objects left out in the cold winter air over night. The city that never slept was becoming more alive with activity as her residents started their daily routines.

High above the city the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier flew, keeping an eye on the city below.

It seemed like any other winter's morning in New York, but today would prove to be far from ordinary.

Svalin charged down the hall to what she assumed is the secure vault. She took a brief moment to study the door and the lock. Electronics were definitely not her thing and she wasn't even going to attempt to figure out the lock.

Instead she drew her sword and ran the lock through. Then she kicked the door bending the metal inward. Another kick and the door buckled more. Svalin kicked a third time and the door gave way.

She stepped inside and stopped.

Mjolnir sat in the middle of the room on a rather large pile of Earth. Of course one couldn't move the hammer unless they were worthy, but they could move the ground on which it rested.

Svalin took a deep breath and approached the hammer. A pit formed in her stomach and if she had to admit it, she was nervous. Going into battle was less difficult than this.

She took another deep breath. "All-Father, I pray to thee that I art worthy of wielding Mjolnir," she said softly.

Her hand slowly wrapped around the handle and she tried to lift it.

It did not move.

Svalin bowed her head and released Mjolnir. "I art not worthy," she whispered. "I hath failed."
