“We’re here outside the Four Seasons Hotel in New York where the who’s who is gathered tonight. Celebrities, royals and superheroes have all turned out for the annual Maria Stark Foundation Winter Charity event benefiting Toys for Tots.

It’s truly an all-star gala here tonight.

New York’s own princess, Anya Stark, was seen being escorted by what appears to be her new flame, actor Austin Cain. Her brother and currently second in line to the Russian throne, Mikhail Romanov, was seen entering the party with Lyta Worthington, heiress to Worthington Industries. Tony and Natasha Stark, parents of a new baby, are making their first public appearance since the birth of their son.

Mackenzie Rider, a prince of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is escorting Ms. Andrea Denker of the Fantastic Four tonight. Kristoff Vernard, leader of the Fantastic Four, was seen in attendance with his wife Cassandra and their son Scotty. Vincent Amorason, heir to Latveria, arrived alongside his brother and was seen escorting a member of the Defenders, Asleif Thorsdottir. The rest of the Fantastic Four are here too with their dates, though Miss Valeria Richards is not in attendance. Franklin Richards is in attendance and is escorting one Miss Gill.

Los Angeles’ own superhero team, the Defenders are in attendance as well. Arriving with her team is Grace Danvers, daughter of Hollywood hunk Simon Williams and she is being escorted by teammate, Eiltin. The two Asgardian princesses and daughters of Thor, Asleif and Aridis, are also attending the festivities with their team.
Akilah Munore, the crown princess of Wakanda, is here tonight with her steady flame, Daniel Sherwood a member of the Young Avengers. The other Young Avengers are in attendance tonight with their dates, alongside the adult Avengers.

Donald Trump arrived with his wife and is one of many other famous faces to arrive. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, Jack Nicholson, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift are just a few celebrities who have made an appearance here tonight.

It’s truly a party of the who’s who and it’s all for a great cause.”

"You have not given Prince Harun a chance to show you his quality, Akilah. How can you be so certain?" he asks.

"A man's character is not is measured by words, Daniel. Anyone can find words to speak of what a valiant or worthwhile person they are, but their actions will either support or put the lie to those words. Your actions thus far do not encourage me regarding your intentions toward my daughter." T'Challa says, his tone growing frosty. The more Daniel speaks, the less T'Challa likes him.

"She will return home for as long as her duties require, and that is all you need be aware of."

And then Daniel mentions his parents.

"Akilah, you have met Daniel's parents?" he asks.

She was glad that Daniel took the time to make sure she was alright. She glances back at him, and smiles briefly. She was sure her father would see it, and would not approve of it. But some people were worth the risk.

"He did not display himself with much quality for his first impression, Father. It was the opposite for Daniel, whom I took interest in before I even knew his name."

Then she paused.

"I...have met Daniel's father, yes. His father was captured by a faerie, and Daniel sough after this faerie himself. I was among the few Avengers that rescued them from this faerie."

She left out any other time she'd met with his father. Her father did not need to know that she had become friendly with Mr. Sherwood. At least she was not lying.

Daniel clears his throat wanting to say it wasn't his finest moment. That he should have gotten their help.

Steve had been mad at him too. And Akilah? Oh he never wanted her that angry or upset with him again. "The Green Man would have likely killed both my father and myself had the others not found where we were being held. My father was... Grateful. And happy to meet her."

He felt suddenly very subdued. He didn't like thinking about how close he had been to loosing his father, or loosing his magic to the Green Man. Even worse, being forced into a form of magical slavery.

It also reminded him of his mother and the pain he still felt at her loss. He barely remembered her anymore, just how she died. And he thinks it's bad to suddenly feel so subdued but he doesn't think he can please T'Challa so for him it's perfectly fine to silently brood over the past.

The circumstances of the meeting are less important to T'Challa than the fact that, in ten months, she has met this boy's family while he and Ororo knew nothing of Daniel.

Had he offended or shamed Akilah in some manner that caused her to be embarrassed to introduce them Daniel? Conflicting thoughts play across T'Challa's mind, but he will not give Daniel the satisfaction of seeing him rattled. He is a king and a warrior; he will not show weakness to anyone.

"I see." T'Challa says simply, staring a hole into Daniel. If nothing else, the man doesn't scare easily. He also sees that Akilah is willing to defend him, where others who have sought her attentions were usually put off by her demeanor. He knew that it was easy for many to label her a "bitch" simply because she was strong-willed and did not suffer fools, though he'd would spill the entrails of any man who dared call his daughter such within earshot of him without a second thought.

Still, it hurt to know that Akilah did not judge her parents worthy of knowing this man, or that she was ashamed to tell them of him.

"Akilah, I have taken up enough of your time this evening. I will see you upon your return to Wakanda." T'Challa says evenly.

He looks to Daniel.

"Daniel." is all he says before turning to leave.

"Father, I..."

She paused, and then finally looked down. Her father did not give up easily. Something was bothering him, and Akilah could smell it.

"I will see you upon my return to Wakanda. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your time this evening. Please, send mother my love."

She stayed silent after that. She had not expected such a meeting, at all. She felt bad about the situation.
