Leaving On A JetPlane (Is just arriving somewhere else on one)
Chris smiled to herself as she watched the tarmac approach, feeling the familiar grinding and bumping of wheels as they met the ground, her flight finally setting down at LAX. Mom living on the other side of the country may make it a bit of a jaunt to visit, but she loves coast-hopping. Mom and Dad's separation wasn't easy for her to deal with, but she'd never held it against either of them. She'd made it blatantly clear, even with how young she was, that she wasn't going to be bounced back and forth in whatever custody agreement. It was why she'd wound up with the X-Men; Avengers-Hank had talked to X-Hank, who talked to the Professor. So, Xavier's; best place in the world for a kid to grow up learning how to master their freakish ways.

No need for baggage claim, since everything she needed was at Mom's, and there would be shopping. Chris was still struggling with resisting the urge to bolt down the hallway on all fours when she spotted the familiar face.

"Mom!" She waved, but didn't bother sprinting the rest of the way down the hallway to the welcome area. Last time she did that she accidentally clocked someone with her carry-on.

Chris chuckles deep in her throat, flexing her fingers before she shifts into her catgirl state. "Tigra's my mom. The cat stuff seems to run in the family."

She grins. "Hi, I'm Chris. We... ah.. met at Avengers Mansion briefly."

Tryggvi caught wind of the new scent and starting pawing the ground with a hoof and eventually reared.

"Tryggvi! Hold!" Svalin ordered. The winged-horse put all four hooves on the ground, but snorted. The tiger cub stood under Svalin's mount, but he sniffed the air curiously.

"Well met, Chris Tigrasdottir. I art Svallin Thorsdottir."

After stepping forward again, having given the horse some space when it seemed upset, Chris smiled and extended her hand. "Nice to really meet you. Sorry about the classic misunderstanding with my friends." She watched the cub with some amusement.

"Cute pets."

Svalin took the offered hand and shook it once before releasing it. "Tryggvi ist not a pet," she corrected. "There ist no need to apologize. Both sides were in the wrong."

"Oh, sorry. He...." She tilted her head to be sure. "He's a beautiful horse, even without the wings. Who's the little guy?" She crouched down on her toes, beckoning to the cub cautiously, her ears twitching.

"Glad it's not an issue then. You and your sibs were impressive."

"He ist Eyhvatr. His name means 'Always Brave' and he ist my brother's. I hast started his training."

She snapped her fingers. "Eyhvatr, come," she said to the cub.

The cub stared at her for a moment and then trotted over. Svalin smiled and rewarded the cub with a piece of meat she carried in a small pouch.

"Tryggvi means 'faithful one'."

She nodded at the compliment. "Thank thee. The Avengers art good warriors."

"What are you training him for?" Chris watched as the cub moved over to Svalin, then smiled.

"Damn right they're good warriors." She chuckled imperiously. "The X-Men are even better though."

"Animals in the house must be useful and earn their keep," she said. "They art to guard and hunt vermin."

Svalin gave Eyhvatr a scritch behind the ears.

"I hath not heard many tales of the X-Men. Tales of the Avengers art oft told in Asgard."

Chris frowned. "That's... surprising. One of ours alums actually married some wolf-god of yours, I think. Thought we'd get better press." She draws herself up.

"Well, the X-Men fight just as well if not better, without the government and good public image to help them along."

Svalin nodded. "Aye. The Lady Rahne and Hrimhari. We knowest them well. Moira, Danielle and their siblings were oft companions of ours. Lady Rahne oft told tales of the X-Men. More in Asgard hast hath more contact with Earth's Mightiest Heroes than the X-Men."

Chris smirks. "Yeah, I'd bet you've heard more than a little about Dad, and a thing or two about Mom as well. Hank Pym, who's had more costumes than I have whiskers, and Greer Grant, Tigra."

She grins. "And we've all heard plenty about Thor and Lady Sif."

Chris pauses. "Simple version, I'm an X-Man. The whole story's a bit more complicated." She shrugs, cautiously approaching the animals.

"Nah, complicated is just complicated. The X-Men are home though, for better or for worse. Home that I don't need to feel like there's someone waiting for me to be somewhere else anyway." She frowns momentarily, then goes back to trying to get the cub's attention.

Svalin was not sure what 'slumming it' was, but she answered the question anyways. "I art liking it so far. There art many interesting things to see and do. We went to a place called Disneyland."

Chris crept forward slowly, avoiding direct eye contact with the cub, but still trying to get closer.

"Oh that's great! Haven't been there in a few years. Need to get Mom and Dad together for a family vacation, if they can tolerate each other that long..."

Chris practically purred as she finally reached out and gave the cub a tentative scritch behind the ears. Yeah yeah, it may seem stupid, but she'd never gotten to approach a 'real' tiger before.

Then her head snapped towards Svalin again. "....what were you fighting at Disneyland?"

Chris seems thoughtful. "Yeah... but... some of our people got hurt real bad, not just from the fight. Hard to really feel like a win when people close to you suffer."
