Something New...
The moment Melissa saw the grenade launcher, she knew she had to get it for Kelly. Her lady love enjoyed guns of all types, but she loved things that exploded even more. There was always a childlike (some would mistake it for /manic/) glee in Kelly's eyes whenever they went to the Wild Pack armory to check out weapons. Kelly's eyes had been undressing a rocket launcher, too, so Mel got in contact with a few old friends and found one much like the apple of Kelly's eye.

Melissa can't think of too many other ways to say I love you that don't involve hot sex, jumper cables and bloodletting, or some comb of the three, so she sits and waits for her baby to wake up, both cases on the floor to either side of the chair she's sitting in within their bedroom at SSI.

Right now, though, she just watches Kelly sleep a bit, just because its the most still that she ever sees her on a daily basis.

Melissa smiles brightly, watching Kelly strip and then squeal happily. She didn't care what anyone told Kelly about her not having "real feelings"; her happiness was all the gratitude that Melissa needed.

"I don't suppose you want to test them out?" she asks.

be-t-shirted, Kelly pounces into Mel's lap again, scattering instruction manual pages everywhere as she goes.
"Ooohh, you got me ammo, too?"

"Yes, yes I did, baby. I thought you'd wanna test 'em out. You don't take anything in the field that you haven't given the seal of approval." she grins.

Some might call it odd, given her personality - but it was true. Explosives and ammo happy as she was, mission time came, and Kelly was surprisingly professional. Plus, of course, excuse to hang out on the firing range.

"Totally! So what do we get to blow up?"

"What do you feel like blowing up. Turns out that I heard about a group of religious extremists in Iran that could use a .45 Caliber injectoion or two, and they've got heavy artillery.

How do you feel about introducing a few people to their favorite deity pro bono?" Melissa asks with a gleam in her eyes.

"Ooohhh, wetworks in the desert, I like it. And free bonus, we can dress scandalously and offend people's religious convictions! I'm down."

"Then let me grab my hood and boots and we're off to sunny Iran for wetworks and dry heat." Melissa says, extending a hand to call her crimson cape and hood to her, followed by her twin guns.

"This is going to be hotter than a tent revival in the ninth circle of hell." Melissa grins, whispering the incantation to take them out of there.

Kelly crowds in close once she makes sure she's properly armed for a trip to the desert. By now, she's used to the teleportation, so as soon as they appear, she's locked, loaded and ready to open fire if the situation calls for it.

The moment they arrive, Melissa weaves a spell around Kelly to make her invisible, then takes a deep breath herself and vanishes from sight.

Running forward, Melissa moves up beside one of the compound's guards.

"Are you ready for Muhammad's return?" Melissa whispers, slowly becoming visible in the guard's peripheral vision. He doesn't get a chance to answer, though.

Melissa pulls the trigger on her silenced gun, blowing the man's brains out before he can cry an alarm.

Kelly is also used to this tactic, and goes bolting the opposite direction for the other guard, putting her gun to the other front entry guards.

"I've come for your daughters, Chuck." she says by way of introduction, before pulling the trigger.

"Okay, we sweep the place real quick and make sure there are no kids or women inside, then you test your toys and blow it sky high with all the bad guys inside." Melissa says, before reciting another spell to hide the bodies.

Kelly nods, working on the lock, the basic electronic security, and the tripwires, disarming everything quietly to open the way for them into the compound.

"Good plan. You handle the sweep for innocents, I'll set some explosives to make sure the big boom sets off enough to take the place out. How long do you need?"

"Five minutes, tops. I'll grab anyone non-coms and get them to a safe zone. I'll give the signal when I'm clear and you can do what you do best, my dear." Melissa says, vanishing from view.

Inside the building, she finds several young children and a three women. Rather than argue about /why/ they need to leave, Melissa simply wraps them all within the a crimson bubble and teleports them to the square several blocks away.

Meanwhile, Kelly can hear the sound of military-grade helicopters getting closer by the moment. With her knowledge of small-unit tactics, she can hear at least three choppers, Apache-class, nearing by the moment.

If she looks, Kelly can see the jet-black choppers coming over the Eastern wall of the compound and beginning to set down. The men hopping out wear jet-black camouflage and wield M-16 rifles. Of course, there are no words between them. Only hand-signals.

"What I do best? Shouldn't we save the violent sex for... oh, blow shit up, right!" she replies cheerily.

She darts into the compound, moving about the perimeter and setting her explosives.

Then the U.S. troops arrive... damn. Now, normally, quite frankly, she wouldn't care. Her actual loyalty to any cause runs about as thick as her paycheck. But there are professional standards to be maintained. If the whole place blows up and takes out technical friendlies, it looks sloppy on mission reports. Ok, time to test her artillery.

Vaulting up to the top of one of the walls opposite the soldiers, she sprints along it until she reaches a good firing point. She aims the rocket launcher at what appears the largest barracks and fires, trying to drive any survivors into the teeth of the U.S. attack.

That ought to clear space and create some distraction so she can hunt down whoever's in charge here.

Once Melissa has the women and children in a safe place, she teleports back to the the compound to find that everything has gone straight to hell. Normally, she'd go in firing until she found Kelly and made she sure was okay. Instead, she takes a deep breath and vanishes from sight, scouting the situation before her.

She doesn't know if the guys in black are another mercenary team or actual military; she's guessing military, but she can't be certain. She /does/ know that the men running from the exploded barracks are the bad guys, so she opts to let the other mercs deal with the clean-up.

She knows Kelly's field-thinking pretty well, and if she'd wanted to kill everyone in the compound itself, she'd have detonated her explosives. She didn't, so that means she hasn't identified the man in charge.

That has to be where she's going.

Melissa runs for the compound, hoping she's not far behind Crosshairs.

As Kelly is a somewhat ahead of the Hood, she's in a perfect position from her wall perch to note that there is action at the back of the compound, even as the compound's defenders come screaming out of the barracks and a few more come surging from inside.

A man in dingy white robes and a white turban is being shuffled toward an SUV in a carport at the back. He's got two guards with him, both heavily armed men who are looking around nervously, waiting for the approach of their attackers.

The soldiers act with lethal efficiency, shooting down the unprepared defenders one after the other, and adjust to keep up the pressure once their enemies begin to mount a sluggish defense.

One solider in particular sees someone on the far wall, and thinks this might be an enemy scout, so he follows her, hoping to get a lead on the man in charge here.

Kelly assesses the situation as she goes, mind racing amidst the chaos. She's not sure if the man in the turban is the guy, or a decoy - local insurgents have been known to use them. Best to be sure, and not just blow these guys up and call it a day.

She drops to a crouch, reloading the rocket launcher as quicly as she can, waiting to fire until one of the bodyguards opens the doors to the SUV - figuring its armored, she tries to fire the rocket in through the door instead of at the body, to make sure there's no hope of using it as an escape, and hopefully getting rid of at least one of the bodyguards without eliminating the target until she can ascertain if he's the local boss or a decoy.

Kelly's shot is a direct hit and all three men are thrown from the exploding vehicle, with the turbaned man thrown back against the wall of the compound. The bodyguards die instantly from the force of the impact, but the man in the turban lies on the ground stunned and trying to get the world to make sense again.

He begins trying to climb unsteadily to his feet.

The rest of the soldiers are gaining ground against the compound's defenders, as they are better armed, better trained and more disciplined. Whoever owns this place paid a fortune for these guys to be ready, but they weren't expecting an attack like this.

Meanwhile, the lone soldier sees and hears the rocket explosion from behind the house and runs in that direction as quickly as he can, still looking for his quarry.

He thinks he sees someone on the wall and aims his rifle, hoping to get a shot in before this person can fire again. His mission is to take this guy alive, and he's not going to let some group of mercs screw this up for his team.

Melissa has to take cover when the compound's defenders notice her, doing her best to avoid the bullets coming her way. She returns fire where she can, aiding the invaders against their enemies, or blinding the leader of the resistance so that he can't effectively give orders.

The explosion in the rear of the compound tells her that Kelly is still in the game, since no one else seems to be using rockets or grenades, so Melissa's heart slows a small bit, but not much.

She pops up again, shooting down another man before starting to move again in Kelly's general direction.

Kelly slings the rocket launcher over her shoulder, and leaps into the air, executing two flips and a twist on her way to the ground, rolling to lessen the impact, coming up as near the turbaned man as she can.
She draws her beloved Eagle in mid-air, steadying the rocket launcher with the other arm as she comes up from the roll, pointing the hand cannon at the turbaned man, either not having noticed, or not caring someone has a rifle pointed her way.

"Don't move or Allah will need a spatula to collect you." she shouts at the downed man in Arabic. Truth be told, her Arabic is terrible. She's just practiced that phrase.

"Your name, now!" she insists loudly, looking for any sign of hesitation while she badgers him. She's going to be damned sure this isn't a decoy.

The turbaned man looks at Kelly with a great deal of confusion as he can barely hear a word she's saying. The sound of the blast at close range has affected his hearing and he's not good with lip-reading.

"Who are you, American Devil?" he shouts above the din of the fighting.

He also attempts, slowly but surely, to draw a knife and jab it into Kelly's guts.

Soon enough, the gunfire dies down at the front of the compound as the strike force seems to have mopped up the last of the resistance. The soldiers round up the compound's defenders and begin assessing damage.

Meanwhile, the soldier following Kelly loses chance to take the shot due to the fluidity of her movements. He follows her, however, and comes upon Crosshairs interrogating the target, Ali Daryaei.

"Freeze!" he says, leveling his gun at the back of Kelly's head.

"Put the gun down and back away from him." the soldier says.
