Sparring Session
Svalin had seen to Tryggvi and Snowflake as she always did in the mornings around sunrise. She put the two horses out to graze after feeding them. Once she was done she grabbed her Bat'let and went outside on the lawn to practice before the sun got too hot.

The blade felt as comfortable in her hands as Vigfrior did. Svalin could use it with as much proficiency and ease as she did the weapons she grew up with. The air whooshed as the blade moved through the air.

"Aye," she said and moved to stand behind him. She put a hand on each of his, though to do so she had to get really close since her expanding middle got in the way.

"To block an o'erhand blow and a slash," she said and brought the bat'leth horizontal and put his other hand on it and then raised it up. Then she brought it down diagonally where it would stop a strike coming in from the right. "A thrust," she said as she turned the bat'leth and his hands in a sweeping motion.

	Sigurdur follows the moves that Svalin shows him slowly, then repeats them again and once more after that. "This weapon ist more and more comfortable with every movement." he says, turning for a moment to face her, keeping the blade pointing at the ground. He looks at her and smiles. 	Svalin drew her sword and went back into a fighting stance. She could feel that she was a bit off balance and she didn't like it. Thankfully this was only light sparring. "I art ready." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Sigurdur watches Svalin's form carefully, noting that she is not wholly on-balance, but also considering that a warrior of her caliber has learned to account for this. 	Svalin easily brought her sword around to block the thrust. Normally she would have put some strength behind her sword to force the bat'leth down and put an elbow into his face, but now she just took a step back and waited for his next move. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Sigurdur nods as she blocks him, noting that she is still quick, despite her pregnancy. He would need to be careful of that. He tries another attack, a high slash that she would also be able to deflect with ease. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin did deflect it, but not with her sword. She now held a staff. The strike was blocked and she used the lower end of the staff to swipe at his legs. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Sigurdur should have expected this maneuver, but he did not and he was caught off-guard.

He was swept off his feet and landed hard upon his back, the Bat-leth flying from his fingers. If it had been his own sword, that would not have happened so easily, but the weapon was still new to him and he hadn't fallen down with it yet.

He looked up Svalin with a grin.

"Thou hast me cornered, milday. What wilt thou do with me?" he asks.

	Svalin turned the staff and it was at his throat. "Thou doth yield then?" she asked. A smile tugged at her mouth. "Mayhap a walk on the beach?" She removed the staff and sheathed her sword. Then she offered him a hand up. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"I wilt yield." Sigurdur smiles. She had him in this instance, though he could not wait to challenge her when she was not with child. He looked forward to a true sparring match on these ground.

"Yes, a walk on the beach wouldst be most welcome." Sigurdur says, accepting the and getting to his feet.

"The water here ist very beautiful. One could stare upon it for hours without end not tire." he says.

"Not now. I art here to protect thee, Svalin. I nearly failed in that task several nights ago and I wilt not make that mistake again." he says.

After he'd found out that she'd been attacked by Dracula, Sigurdur seemed to stick a bit closer to Svalin than he had previously. He took little time for himself and he often kept watch outside her door or nearby, even when she was doing something mundane.

"Hast thou tried surfing?" he asks.

"I remember a young lady who liked to hunt things that wert up to no good." Sigurdur says, looking meaningfully at Svalin.

"She oft dragged companions off on her journeys, journeys that often led to stern words from her lord father and the fathers of her companions.

Such journeys started out much like this one." he grins, taking the board from Svalin and walking her to the beach.

"Mayhap she ist taking me on such a journey now?" he asks.

"Aye. I wast on an adventure through time with the Avengers in search of Kang. We wert in the time of King Arthur and we hadst to help him retake Camelot from Mordred and Morgan Le Fay. A dragon wast summoned and I fought him. He swallowed me and I cut my way out from the inside."

The same adventure that crossed her life with Jon's. She put a hand on her stomach. I art sorry thou wilt ne'er know thine father.

	Sigurdur listened to story intently and marveled again at Svalin's cunning. Few would have thought to allow the dragon to eat them and cut their way out from inside. However, when she put her hand to her stomach, Sigurdur became concerned. "Is all well with thine child, Svalin? Or...didst I ask something too person with that story?" he asks.
