The sun was starting to sink on the Western horizon and into the Pacific Ocean as another day was ending. A few miles south of 1800 Palos Verdes Drive the ground erupted in a spray of dirt. One by one soldiers came forth from the ground. Some were Spartans, some were Roman legionnaires, and some were Norsemen. A total of three thousand eventually stood in the dying light. They moved into formation and started marching.

Thou'rt responsible for it... thou must needs see to its feeding, watering, exercise and cleaning, just as Svalin cleans her horse, or t'will be just as our mother told Svalin - if thou proves't thou'rt not ready for the responsibility of a horse, we canst always take it back until thou'rt ready. Dost thou understand?"

	Asleif's smile was a small one (tiny, really. Few would probably even notice it) as she watched the pleasure of the small mortal. ...It was preferable to having her be unhappy. That was all.
