The Plot Thickens (Karen)
Fifteen hours after the Chicago PD responded to an incident at a warehouse on the pier, Detective Lynch is contacted by Seargeant Griswold, who ended up working overtime and was the first to respond when the call came in.

When she arrives, the police have shut down one of the main roads headed out of town and the reason is quickly apparent; off the side of the road, there is a burned out husk of a vehicle, a black 1967 Chevy Impala. There are scorch and burn marks on the vehicle where it hasn't been smashed or crushed beyond repair. On the ground, two bodies lie underneath sheets, and the Crime Scene Investigators are taking photos of the trunk, where there is a third body.

Sergeant Griswold approaches Lynch when she arrives.

"I'm startin' to think it might be time for me to hang it up, Detective." he says wearily, nodding to the crime scene.

Karen wouldn't figure out what to think of him and made a note of that.

Karen took a quick sniff of the air and could make out the faint scent of rotten eggs. "OK so what does that mean then?"

"And why should I fire him he's always been good for these type of cases in the past and I don't see a conflict of interest or personal issues." Karen didn't like just being told what to do like this.

"I'm sure you're aware of what kind of beings use hellfire, Detective Lynch." Aeron says. "You have some knowledge of the supernatural, don't you? Your family has had a brush with it before, maybe?"

Aeron takes a deep breath and looks at Karen again.

"What you're seeing now is only the the beginning of what's coming, Detective. Imagine scenes like this playing out all over town in greater frequency in the months ahead. You and your friends may have a chance of stopping this...but Matt Walker will make this much harder.

There's a very real chance he's going to die and take you all with him." Aeron says. "Unless you can get him to back off and leave Chicago."

Karen’s eyes narrowed. That kind of information wasn’t really written down anywhere so someone knows it made her very suspicious and on edge especially since she couldn’t really read the guy.

“Or you could stop being such a cryptic son of a bitch and just tell me exactly what’s going on and who you are,” Karen says. She really doesn’t like to play these type of games and generally doesn’t. She keeping Matt involved in this until she knew what the hell was going on.

“And if you’re just going to continue being unhelpful then get out of my crime scene before I arrest you.”

"Jail cells and I don't get along so well. You and Dr. Drum are the only two capable of keeping him under control, yet you seem the least interested in doing so." Aeron observes, a melancholy expression coming over his face.

"Detective, the being that did this is extremely dangerous, but not nearly as dangerous as what it was trying to stop last night. Some creatures can be dealt with in the normal way, but others...others are like forces of nature. You can't stop them or hope to contain them; you simply need to get out of the way.

"I suggest that you and the rest of your friends, as you'd call yourselves, get out of the way of this one until it moves on and focus on finding what it came to stop." Aeron says, turning to leave.

More cryptic nonsense. For someone who seemed like they were trying to help he was doing a rather piss poor job of it. All Karen had wanted was an honest explanation and depending on what it was she probably would have been willing to help.

"I don't want to see you again especially around a crime scene unless you are willing to talk," Karen tells him as he leaves, "If I do I will arrest you for obstruction of justice."

She then turns to get back to work it's going to be a long couple of days most likely without sleep.
