All Hope Abandon, Ye Who Enter In!
Between Marlow and Dawn the Defenders had managed to track the shadow demons who had abducted Svalin to the gates of Hades. Countless shades wandered on the shores of the river Acheron. These were the paupers and the friendless, those who did not possess an obolus to pay Charon.

A small boat floated on the dark waters of the river and the cloaked figure of Charon stood in the boat waiting to ferry souls across the river. A skeletal hand clutched a pole and the other was outstretched waiting to receive a fare for crossing.

On the other side of the river stood a large three headed dog and a large two headed dog. Cerebus and Orthus guarded the entrance into Pluto's realm.

Halbjorn is nigh unrecognizeable. Bone is exposed in a dozen spots, and his, and others' blood covers him - some of the hound and demon blood still on fire.

With a gurgling roar, he rushes at Pluto, viewing him as the biggest threat still in the room.

Pluto was quite annoyed with these Asgardians and their friends. "Foolish Asgardian," he said and unleashed a godblast at Hal.

Halbjorn isn't dodging. He bought them the way in, he was brought here - and continued the fight. But after it all, he's on last legs, and already pushing himself past what his body should support.

One day, he might be the God of Rage. But Pluto is the God of Death.

Halbjorn falls, momentum carrying him forward, the axe coming down and digging into the stone inches in front of Pluto, with the Asgardian going very still.

"HALBJORN!" Svalin screamed.

Sigurdur sees Halbjorn fall and roars, glaring at Pluto. He's got to keep the Olympian from finishing Halbjorn off so that someone can get him to safety.

"Lady Marlow! Lady Dawn! Get Halbjorn away from him. I wilt give you the distraction needed!" Sigurdur says.

He raises his sword and charges at Pluto with a roar.

"Children are so foolish these days." Hela stepped out of some shadows. "I came for one, but it looks like I'll be taking two with me," she said as she looked down at Hal. "He'll make a fine addition to my realm."

"Such fools," Pluto agreed and sent a blast toward Sigurdur.

"You can't have any of them!" Marlow yelled, running through the carnage to Svalin. A focused release spell worked on what remained of Svalin's bonds. "Everybody cover your eyes! Dawn, get the others out! I got Svalin and Hal!"

She let loose the Seven Suns spell she'd kept ready, filling the throne room with piercing, painful light.

Svalin shut her eyes when Marlow yelled. The moments she waited to open them seemed like forever. Even behind closed eyelids she could tell the light was blinding. When it finally died down, she opened her eyes and ran toward her brother.

"One exit, coming up..." Dawn said, quickly putting her spell together. "Franklin, Ardis, Griff... let's go!"

"Aye," Dawn helps Griffen who looks unsteady on his feet.

"We shalt get everyone home this day."

Griffen is still gasping or breath. The imprint of a demon's hand on his throat is still visible but he won't fuss over the bruise until they're home.

Instead he is just glad Aridis is holding him up.

Sigurdur narrowly dodges the blast, but his job is to give Dawn enough time to get everyone through the portal. Then he'll go, if he's able.

"This trespass wilt not be forgotten Olympian. And you shall answer for your crimes, Hela!" Sigurdur vows.

When they get to him, Halbjorn is very still. There's hints he still draws breath, but barely. But he and his axe can still be dragged, anyway.

She would definitely be smothering Griff with attention and ministrations when they got back.

When. Not if. Huh. Maybe she was getting confident.

Dawn did a quick headcount, do make sure everyone who needed to be was through, then went through herself.

Svalin reached her brother and very carefully picked him and the axe up. She could feel the hint of magic and knew her healing powers were kicking in. They were mild to start with and she knew they would barely do anything for her brother. At the most they would keep him breathing.

She walked over to Marlow and a moment later they were home.
