Taking Flight pt. 3, Earning Their Wings
In the process of spending a ton of time getting everyone's new computer equipment set up, Jordan does some reading. If this is going to be Alpha Flight, he wants to make sure they're not missing anything important. He's read the contracts several times, but the government and Alpha Flight's history may include something he's missed.

While skimming, something makes him stop in the Weapon X Project. Sure, its officially disbanded, but it was still another government run organization - if something like that started up again, where would they fall?

"The hell? Why did they move all the equipment to the states? That doesn't make any sense." He does some more digging, including a little hacking. Just a little, really. Every step he takes makes him more and more confused. Especially when some cross checking turns up the news regarding Logan's sons.

"This is really not good."

He pokes the coms. "Folks, I think we have a problem."

	"I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think Weapon X ever shut down. They've moved all their facilities to the states, including some pretty high end equipment. "Not Canadian anymore. They moved millions of dollars worth of stuff to the northeast in the U.S. So... in theory, we can do something. I know, roughly, where it was moved to. But we'd have to violate national borders and quite possibly our charter... which didn't stop the previous team. Personally, I think we kind of owe Wolverine... well, Alpha Flight we, not us we... but close enough. Anyone with me, so we can start our careers off quite possibly getting fired and arrested?"

	Jordan heads outside without hesitation, responding as he goes. "I doubt the Canadian government would approve of this. We may well get in trouble. But it is the right thing to do, and if something does happen, I'll take the heat for it if I can. We don't currently have an assigned leader, and I've been nominated, and it was my idea." Jordan swings aboard as well. "Alex does quick recon, make sure they're actually there. Mel, if you think you can inhabit something without drawing too much attention, you could probably help there too. If they're there and prisoners or something, we hit them hard. I'll have Alex drop me from a mile high or something into the middle of the place, that ought to get some attention. Then you guys create confusion, take down any targets of opportunity. Alex and Mel, hopefully, can get to the prisoners and get them out - Alex is our best transport if they need to be carried, Mel can calm things down, help prevent confusion, not to mention scout areas ahead a little with relative safety. Sound like a workable plan?"

He's noticed the expressions and general hesitance. Not surprising, this is not exactly a veteran team, and he hasn't yet proven much as a leader, even a tenuously elected one.
"Ok, once we get there, both scouting, and if it turns out we do this - don't take any unnecessary risks. The infiltrators and the people creating a distraction, look after each other, and if it gets too heavy, get out. I'll be in the middle and take as much heat off you as I can - its more or less what I'm made for. Don't hesitate to fall back - I don't want to risk losing anyone, and no one should be working alone."
Well, except him, but hopefully that'll make sure everyone gets out of this ok.

Eventually, Alex got them to a forested area not far from the facility.

It was only a bit of a walk to the edge of cover.

Consulting and confirming that she'd get in touch as soon as she'd found somewhere and new something, Mel carefully melted into the dirt. Various flowers got a slight more tinge of violet, but mostly she confined any stains to the dirt beneath the grass. A slight sense of apprehension filled the air.
Once she was inhabiting the dirt, Melanie gradually started to habit the adjacent ground, once more keeping the stains from being obvious to anyone who might be watching. After a few minutes to move over, she started phasemorphing way down deep.

The first wall...well, more of a ceiling, she hits, she really doesn't like. At all. It's not a nice ceiling.

	Once everyone was on the ground Alex shifted to something a little less conspicuous but still possessing wings. When they got closer and inside, he'd switch to something more effective for dealing with any resistance. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Various scientists, technicians, and paramilitary personel might feel the slightest odd feeling, and thankfully avoid looking at the the shading of shadowed electrical sockets and other unobtrusive spots. Mel did unobtrusive well. It often worked well for anxiety purposes.

And she gradually is one room after the other, listening all the while.

Finally, she finds herself a completely uninhabited, unwired storage closet, and comes out of the wall enough to properly use the coms and whisper. "it's...kind of like st. michael's hospital and jail at the same time. heard names... romanov and roberts."

	/Right,/ he said as he's dropped near an air vent. The panic at being a spider and being picked up by a bird was subsiding. One thing he learned very early on is not to assume the shape of an animal that is seen at prey. Alex crawled down the air vent and listened for voices. They would be his guide.
