Kalypso would admit that she wasn't the best hand to hand combatant. She relied more on her Eternal abilities to get her through a situation. As it were she was learning that she needed to not rely on her illusions and abilities so much. She had been spending more time in the training room and when schedule and time permitted taking lessons from any of the adult Avengers who would teach her.

Today she was in the training room practicing against some artificial opponents. She was holding her own against them for the time being. She landed a punch on one of the robots and it crumpled into a heap.

	"Don't be sorry, sweetheart," Jack reassured her. "It's one of your powers. You use everything you have in a fight." He twirled the clubs in his hands once before tossing them aside. "I think you'll be able to use it to block strikes once you're more accustomed to fighting hand-to-hand." He smiled again. "I'll work at ambushing you more often. Ready now?" 	Jack smiled again. If he loved her less, it might have bothered him how short his life would be compared to hers. Living in the moment was better than a life without her. He circled slowly again, drawing out the waiting time, then leaped again. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The strike had been pulled to swat rather than a punch. He shifted behind her to spin her around and aim several more soft blows at her face, shoulder and midsection. "Not bad," he said encouragingly. "Don't think, just react." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	She let the thoughts slip from her mind and just reacted like he said. She blocked two shots, but two connected. While he was in close she took the opportunity to try landing a hit on him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Jack took the shot, his smile never wavering at the sting against his shoulder. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles before jerking her forward to twist her around.

"You are a quick learner, Kal. Dad once told me that hand to hand combat was like dancing to music that could change at any second."

Letting go, he again aimed a soft blow to her chin and swept out with his foot to catch hers.

	Kal managed to avoid the blow to the chin, but she didn't expect the foot sweep. It caught her at the ankle and she went backwards. She landed ungracefully on her ass. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He was quick enough to avoid both, but didn't. Rather than flinch away, he stepped into her reach and ducked to let the head blow graze him. His midsection tensed and a soft 'ooof' escaped him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	With her hesitation, Jack had his arms around her for a dip and a quick kiss. Just as quickly, he spun her around, pushed her forward, and back flipped away, landing several yards away out of her reach. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
