Happy Birthday Josh (Backdated to Aug 5th)(open)
Tim was horrible with dates unless they were a deadline and it was normal for him to miss things. Thankfully he set up reminders for important things like birthdays. The only one he ever remembered without a reminder was Sammy's.

When the notification came in for Josh's birthday Tim took some time in the morning to head into New York and get him a gift. Tim wasn't exactly sure what to get him, but he did find a few things. He left a wrapped copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War and a gift card to Barnes and Noble on Josh's desk in HQ.

Well, the word went around. Even the regular paper jockey of the team heard that Josh's birthday was coming up. So He got him a $50 dollar gift card to a movie theater as well, as $25 cash for food.

Because it was New York and the stuff there is expensive.

Okay, he did not give his birthday information out for the whole staff to know, so how the hell was this possible? Somehow he suspected Lena was involved.

The copy of Sun Tzu was interesting and money not out of his pocket was always a good thing.

Thank God no one was singing Happy Birthday.

Yes she was fully aware Josh was not a 'birthday' sort of guy. So perhaps she had decided to put his birthday as a notification on the database, and perhaps she had gotten an intern to accidentally-on purpose mess up some files so she'd have the chance to change his ringtone to the happy birthday song, and maybe, just maybe she had also arranged for some paper jockeys to come sing Happy Birthday at his meeting. Evil? What evil?

She'd left a wrapped package on his desk with a card attached. Inside was an encyclopedia on all the publicly known superheroes and villains. It was an edition hard to come by in most bookstores and rarely printed for some reason. You can nitpick and tell me all the things they got wrong in there. I owe you a non-work night out of my lab. If you collect today you get cake. Be smart, pick cake.

And his cell goes off, cheerfully singing out Happy Birthday to him. What? She wanted to make sure her meddling had worked.

And Josh does his best to compose himself in front of the agents nearby. The book almost, ALMOST, calmed him down. He read the card..and wouldn't admit he was actually touched.

He calmly, outwardly, and stiffly answers the phone.

"Yes?"

"That doesn't sound too cheerful. Didn't you get my reminders? They were subtle I know but... Anyway. What'll it be? Cake or no cake?"

He resists the urge to grumble.

"Fine Dr. Jessen, there may be cake."

"Knew you were a smart man Agent. Stop by my lab after you're done, no later than eight, and we'll have a birthday night out with cake. My treat of course. We really need to fix that grouchy attitude you have today Birthday Boy."

He smiles, in spite of himself.

"Okay, I'll be there." A slight frown. "I can't stand that song."

A sigh and unseen roll of her eyes. "I'm aware. I promise to change it tomorrow for you. Now think of what you want to do. You must have fun Agent, understand?"

He follows with a sigh and unseen roll of his eyes as well. "Yes, I understand the mission parameters as they've been given to me."

"Perfect. Be punctual at the meeting place and we will address your hypoglycemic issues en route."

"Since the moment I decided you needed cake and that giving you a valid medical reason might speed it along?"

"Since when do you have a medical license, Lena?" he asked teasingly.

"Since people can't distinguish types of doctors and I've got more bio knowledge than most, I'd say I can pull medical doctor off pretty well. And really, you're not going to argue with a prescription of cake are you Josh?"

"See you later, Agent. And since I didn't get to say it before: Happy Birthday Josh," she smiled.

Given everything she knew about Agent Hoskins, including the fact that they were both compiling files (but not for the same reasons), she guessed that he could probably use ten pounds of the world's best coffee beans. The same coffee that came out of the deputy director's office with its own line item in the office budget.

Not only was it excellent coffee, but it was also handy for bribes when one needed things from other agents addicted to the good stuff.

Since Everyone else seemed to be getting Josh birthday presents he figured it would probably be nice of him to get something for him as well. I took him some time to figure out something to get for him but he did find a t-shirt that he thought he would like.
