A Chilly Fall Afternoon (open)
The Ides of October found Cait in the kitchen at Xavier's baking various types of cookies and even a few pies. The Ides weren't something they celebrated here in the States, but back home they still kept a few of the traditions alive by celebrating. The Ides of October were always her least favorite. The chariot race was always fun, but the slaughtering of the October Horse was not and Cait hated it.

This year instead of watching a horse get killed, she was in the kitchen baking.

"I'm sure neither one won't ever be caught roughing it in the suburbs." He got the milk and returned to his seat to enjoy the treats. "I think those exact words are on Jarvis' business cards."

Corey snickers. "Spoils all the Avenging types, by most accounts."

"Having someone do it for you takes all the fun out of it," Cait said as she grabbed another cookie.

"They live a cushy life, that's for sure." If Brat heard that, she'd have whacked him into next week. He picked up a cookie from his plate. "There was a bakery near Mom's place that she'd let me go to on weekend visits to get cookies and stuff. These are better."

Cait smiled and her cheeks turned red at the compliment. "Thank you."
