Extended Family!
Derek was someone who liked having a family, even if it were one of the most unusual families out there (although he had heard the Summers family was even crazier, but he didn't know them except through reputation), but even with the weirdness of his family it never seemed to be overwhelming. But it could sometimes be overwhelming for him. So here he was, about to introduce a cousin to another cousin.

Not that technically one cousin was actually an older nephew and the other an adopted demon form limbo who got a soul. But that's just a technicality. So here he was, knocking on Macs door with a good amount of takeout and waiting to hear from Dolemeck as to when he would be arriving.

Dolemeck nearly dropped the egg roll he was about to bite into. His face was a bright red as he gave Derek a look. he then took a bite of his egg roll, sitting in a chair with his back straight and looking as proper as possible.

"Well... I... I am frightened to talk to girls. There, I said it! Are you happy now, Derek?" He gave an almost pouty look as he bit down on more of the eggroll. "I would not know what to say to one who was not my Mother, anyway."

	"I have a 'There Are Girls' voice? Huh." Derek shakes his head out of the aside. "Well, it's not just that, Dole. You have a type you really seem to get scared around. "I shy away from all women, Derek. And I know that you say I would be good in a library, but... " Dolemeck sighed, leaning back against his chair for a moment. "It is hard for mortals to understand. You have this world, with all these beautiful, different places. Staying in a library all the time working is no different than living in Limbo. The scenery does not change, and everything is the same day in and out."

"I want to see things, experience things most people take for granted. And while I am reluctant to fight, I will do so if I must to protect this world." He spoke passionately. He would not fight against those who harmed him, but would fight tooth and nail to protect Earth and his new family. "This place is my home now, after-all. I want nothing bad to happen to it."

"San Francisco was very interesting! Some of the streets were slanted, and it too me awhile to get used to it. I learned that males can be with other males and females can be with other females... which was shocking, as in Limbo we had no real concept "love" and some demons were genderless. I also learned about boats, and the ocean..." he clapped his hands thinking of all the wonders he saw back in San Francisco. "I also was impressed by the Golden Gate Bridge. I had never seen a bridge before! But after a few years, I longed to see more. So Mother and Father said I should go explore New York, and if I got homesick, to come home. Oh... and not to do anything bad."

"It is hard to talk to you sometimes, Brother. You can be headstrong. And despite my age, I have been only a "human" for less time than you have. So I tend to look up to you for help." He began to shovel some rice into his mouth. After chewing and finishing his rice, he looked at both Mac and Derek. "I just feel a bit lost right now. You and Mac are both heroes, and I have yet to figure out my own path. I am most impressed by you both."

"I know I can be a real dunderhead at times, Dole. Mac knows that as well," Derek says, a sad smile on his face. Yes, he certainly was headstrong. It's from his Mom.

"If I need a good whack on the head to keep me from being one, go right ahead. You'll do me a favor that way. But you don't get to say you're not a hero. Nuh-uh."

See, Dole? Now you have to deal with a pouty Derek!

"I thought they used brute force and Khan had many children with many women to increase his army and status." He blinked. Obviously, he did not get that was a joke. Worst of all, he just gave a small history lesson. "But back to speaking of jobs. I have applied to work in a used bookstore. It is temporary of course, but I do need income. It is such an odd concept... this paper money you use."

	Prince MacKenzie is merciful, and tries to interject to keep the conversation on the plants and his Andrea, so Derek doesn't have to answer that. "I think the point is that the plant can do to flies what your mom could to men if she wanted: get their attention and reel them in, whether it's good for them or not. Dolemeck could easily be distracted. He smiled and offered up his bowl for some chow mein. "I would like some chow mein... umm... please? I say please, right?"

His attention was soon turned back to Mac. "I suppose you are right. Father has trouble escaping Mother's beauty, and that is why he married her! And speaking of marriage... Now that you have a girlfriend, Mac, is marriage not the next step for you?"

	Oh, that smile that had food? it is almost predatory now. "Yes. I do hear things are going really well for you, Mac. Are thee wedding bells in your immediate future?" It is often said that people with their mouths open in shock look a little like fish. Perhaps it applies all the more for Atlanteans.

Finally, "Dole, I love Andrea, and when one really loves a girl, making end up stuck being a princess isn't something to do lightly." And Derek has gotten up, thus avoiding the pointed 'wouldn't you agree, Highness' he had earned by supporting this interrogation.
