Looking For Luck I Can't Even Buy
It was a perfect fall afternoon. The thermometer was in the low 60s, the sky was a bright blue and the sun was bright. The trees were vibrant oranges, yellows and reds as they showed off their colors of the season. It was also the time of the year for Dad's birthday and Anya was at a loss of what to get him this year.

It was a great excuse to shop.

Classes finished up early on Fridays and Anya was back in New York by two. Plenty of time to shop, grab dinner and then find something to do for the evening. The first thing she did was grab Toni to drag her along. Anya's free time had been in short supply lately as she got caught up with school and it had been awhile since she had some time with her bestest friend.

The streets and sidewalks were crowded as they made their way down Fifth Avenue.

Jack propelled himself from the crouch into a full leap at the unconscious girl. At best, he'd confuse the situation. Worst, he'd get blasted with something.

Temujin blasts a cutting laser in front of him, getting the lamp post out of his way. Seeing Jack, he snarls. "You cannot have her!" He aims his telekinetic ring towards Jack and Anya.

Dammit. What the hell did it take to stop this guy?

Toni threw a hand out, sending a mailbox hurling toward Temujin.

Jack let the blast carry him into Anya instead of fighting against it. He grabbed at her, using his quick reflexes to pull her into his body and roll farther away from Temujin.

As the mailbox hits him, knocking him several feet, he glances up at Jack and Toni, glaring at them both.

Again, his timing has been poor. He will have to destroy two heroes in order to retrieve her, and more heroes could be on their way.

With a flash of light, Temujin teleports away.
