Cordially Invited (set November 14th)
The morning of Saturday, November 14 dawned. With the whole Fantastic Four family there, the chairs and a few minor decorations for the empty 29th floor of the Baxter building were easily set up. The rest of the guests would be arriving soon, Cassandra's friends among the Avengers.

Jennifer Walters had been kind enough to recommend the judge. Their license was in order. The bride was with the maid of honor and there was no word of any problems at the moment.

By noon, Cassandra would be his, officially. Scotty, too, to an extent.
If any outsider prevented that, Kristoff was not absolutely certain he could keep himself from ...a display of excessively bad manners.

The best man, all traditional duties well in hand, was flitting about the main area, checking and reinforcing the various magical wards he'd strewn about the place. Nothing up to his level was getting in, and if anything above his level decided to crash the party (unlikely, as the Fantastics tended to attract the extraterrestrial and the futuristic, more than the mystical), well... there was plenty of muscle to go around.

He was also rather looking forward to seeing Andrea in her own dress.

Of course, the most primary of traditional duties is keeping an eye on the soon-to-be husband. And when Vincent makes his way back to him,
"It is exceptionally convenient that the standard New York civil ceremony does not include a point for the voicing of objections. Far too much of an invitation."

It's not as if he really expects Kristoff to be a flight risk, else he'd have tethered him to the nearest available fixture.

"If there were any objections to be had, I don't think they'd be ones waiting for such an implicit verbal cue." Vincent shrugs, then fixes his brother with a meaningful look. "You're an exceptionally lucky man, phral." He pats the meaningful bulge of the rings' box in his vest pocket. "All will be well."

Kristoff returns the look with a substantial smile. "Yes, I know. And I certainly hope so. Respectively."

Vincent paused, raising both eyebrows. "I'm sorry, did you think I was just giving you a customary empty reassurance? I was informing you. Everything will be well. A room full of Earth's mightiest, and most importantly in this instance, myself, will be seeing to it."

Yes Kristoff, in his high-handed way, your little brother loves you very much.

His expression softens. "Hope is unnecessary, but you are still welcome to it, if you insist." He then grins lightly. "Save your worrying for being a father, and sharing your living space."

Kristoff smiles an sighs slightly.

"That, of course," he says good-naturedly at the last part, "Can be taken as a given." But Kristoff's customary neuroses were still experiencing the extreme mitigating effects of Cassandra's reassurance, weeks ago, that he absolutely was not any sort of back-up option. Devel, that still felt so good.

"Just do me one small favor in return brother... don't particularly throw the garter in my direction. I'm game for the tradition for tradition's sake, but... ah.. well, you know how Andrea can read into things a bit intensely."

For anyone who knew him, this was about as close as Vincent came to blushing and stammering, as it was, he seemed only vaguely unsettled to the untrained eye.

Natasha couldn't believe Cassie was getting married. Cassie. Little Cassie. The Avengers had watched her grow up and now she was getting married. It just proved that they were all getting old.

Natasha was dressed in a simple, yet elegant, mocha colored dress. She was armed of course, but the weapons were well hidden. After all, a super villain attack was almost expected. Natasha had a hundred bucks on Doom showing up at the "I do"s.

"The 'speak now' bit. Bastard never could refuse an entrance," he murmurs. Cassie would kill them if she knew about the pool, but would be foolish to think it's not being done. "I'll also take Kang for $400 sometime at the reception with a double down of having him shoot the wedding cake first. Who else is in?"

"Clint, Bobbi, Hank, Jen, Carol...the usual suspects," Natasha answered. "Both teams along with SHIELD are on standby when something happens."

He nods. He has more security on this party than Cassie would ever want to know about - but this is his goddaughter. The kids never need to know how closely they're monitored at any given time. Where would the fun in that be?

Anya took the train from Boston to New York last night. The three and a half hours it took gave her time to work on her latest computer project. She had about a week to finish it and the workload from school had been brutal lately giving her little time to work on it.

Today she wore a simple fern colored cocktail dress and a pair of matching heels. The dress had been pulled out of her closet instead of a new one. Anya just hadn't been in the mood to go shopping, not to mention not having the time. Her hair was up and she wore a simple gold necklace with the Stark family crest.

She waited impatiently for the ceremony to start. She was ecstatic that Cassie was finally getting married. Cassie and Kristoff deserved to be happy.

Well, at least fellow super-heroes were a lot better to hang out with than Russian nobility.

So it was that Steve was doing the dutiful boyfriend thing by being Anya's date.

Anya looked over at Steve and smiled. She had missed him so much in the past week. Not even the ton of school work she had could keep her mind off of him. Then again he was pretty amazing and Anya didn't think there was anything in the world that could keep her from thinking about him.

She had been kicking herself so much in the past week. If she hadn't fucked up so badly she wouldn't have to live in Boston away from her friends, family and Steve. This was what she got for being so stupid. Not to mention bringing up the suit during her talk with her father. The man was always a few steps ahead of her and Anya hated the way he made her suggest punishments for herself. She always added more than what would have been given if he would have handed something down.

Anya slipped her hand in Steve's and gave his a slight squeeze.

Steve had missed the heck out of Anya too. Thank-god for e-mail, IMs, and cell phones. Even then, though, it had been rough. But he wasn't gonna complain. He was gonna support her 100%.

"Friend of yours?" he asked Anya.

As Andrea understood it, her job was two fold. Her first job was to keep the bride from running off. Failing that, her job was to inform the wedding party that the bride had run off.

Well within her capabilities.

Cassie was trying very hard not to panic, even as she looked at herself in the mirror. The make up was fine, the hair was in place. Everything was going too well.

"Are you sure there aren't any super villains out there?"

"Positive," Andrea assured her. "I am in constant communication with the Baxter Building's security system and both it and HERBIE assure me that there is not even the smallest sign of super-villainy."

"Today will go fine."

"Don't say that you'll jinx it." Cassie paused. "But it's all ready jinxed. We're super heroes and Ka- well, certain people won't exactly be thrilled about this marriage." This was only the billionth time she'd gone over this subject.

Rachel was, technically, here in an official capacity. It didn't hurt, however, that it was a friend's wedding.

Not to mention being tapped for the wedding photographer was going to go a long way to paying some of her bills this month, even with the reduced friends' rate she was offering Cassie.

And some lovely pictures were taken, and the much-discussed disruption still had not happened when everyone was seated who wasn't supposed to be standing and the music started.

Kristoff was between the sets of chairs almost breathless.

Cassie still expected something to happen. Some sort of villain crashing in or Galactus himself. She just knew it was going to happen. But she also knew she wanted to get married.

So when the time came to walk down the aisle, she held onto her father's arm a bit too tightly and started walking.

Prepare to be dazzled.

No one would. And no one was going to break into the building either. It was going like any other wedding- beautifully.

It was still going smoothly when Scott Lang handed his daughter to Kristoff. And it kept going smoothly. Cassie even let herself grin.

Kristoff loves his brother beyond words, and is glad to have him standing with him, but he is definitely not looking at Vincent right now.

He takes his Cassandra's hand, eyes searching, fingers holding on like he's worried she's going to disappear.

And Doom already apparently made the point he felt like making at the moment. And Kang is apparently still sulking.
And a flood of two-bit villains were apparently frightened off by the building's security, and the middleweights may have had some guesses about SHIELD, and Nathaniel Richards has probably forgotten he has children again and the rest of the heavy nuisances don't care.

And the elegantly short ceremony starts, and soon Kristoff's promising to love, honor, and cherish her for the rest of his life.

And reminding himself that he Does Not cry in public.

Anya wiped the tears from her eyes. It finally happened. Cassie and Kristoff were finally married. If two people deserved to be together it was those two and after all that they had been through they deserved to be happy.

She cheered enthusiastically when they were pronounced man and wife.
