It's all about perception
When the summons came, there was no mistaking the tone. Sammy would either answer it under her own steam, or she would be escorted in. Carried in if necessary. Col. Fury was just that persuasive.

She hadn't spoken to him since her debriefing after Mikel's capture. Hadn't wanted to speak to him. Mom was letting them work it out, no matter how long it took. It wasn't going to take long if Col. Fury was going to throw his weight around.

Sammy presented herself at Dad's office door and waited for her turn in his daily schedule.

Her shoulders sagged a little. At the end of everything, she was still Nick Fury's little girl and he was still her hero. "I love you too, Dad. Just...a little mad at you right now."

Sammy went around the desk to wrap her arms around his waist for a hug.

Whether he realized it or not, Dad was leaving Mikel's disposition to the future, and her. She was going to make Mikel understand that she would not be as lenient when she sat in the top seat.

"I'll see you soon."

Nick returned the hug and dropped a kiss on the top of her head. "I love ya, Sammy. Never forget that."

"I won't." She stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. "You better get back to saving the world. I'll talk to you later."

She released him and headed for the door.
