The Viper's Bite @ 08:54 pm
onearmofhydra:
Things were going according to plan. Viper was quite please by the way things were progressing. Alliances had been made. Plans were laid and the attack against the RenTech factory had been a great decoy. The real attack had been on another RenTech factory where working Zero Point Energy Modules were being stored. Once she had her hands on an energy source powerful enough to power the weapon scientists had develop she could initiate the next part of her plan. The weapon was almost powerful enough to blacken a large city, but Olivia had other plans. More important plans. The ZPEM was put into the weapon and the weapon was on a large cargo ship in the Atlantic a few miles off the coast of New York Habor. The weapon was powered up. A blinding white light shot forth from the weapon and blazed a trail across the sky. The light slammed into the Helicarrier, SHIELD's flying fortress. While the distraction of the impact of the ion pulse slammed into the Helicarrier, a small flying craft came in right behind the blinding white light. It landed on the deck while panic and chaos broke out on the flying fortress.

Tony, for once, was enjoying a quiet afternoon on the couch while Tasha took Eddie out to fill his head with all kinds of craziness under the guise of shopping. When they got back, Tony was gong have to spend time finding out what his wife was telling their son, and slowly explaining to him that Mommy liked to embellish certain things...unless they were compliments about Tony. Those would be treated as gospel, Tony decided. When the knock at the door came, Tony figured it was one of the kids coming to visit Tasha, though she usually kept them informed of her whereabouts. Of course, the moment he opened the door, he really wished it /had/ been one of the kids.

Doing the Job @ 11:28 am
espionage_elite:
The job they had been hired to do sounded simple enough, but doing it would be a lot harder than it sounded. Theresa didn't doubt her team's abilities, but even as good as they were breaking into a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility wasn't easy. Breaking into a S.H.I.E.L.D. detention facility was even harder, but not impossible. It had taken sometime, but Glitch was one of the best hackers in the business and had come up with the blueprints to the facility. S.H.I.E.L.D. probably didn't even realize that they had been hacked into. Once they had the blueprints, they sat down and came up with a plan. With Glitch in the security system and Theresa and FX's powers, it didn't take long to get in and find the person of interest. Getting out was a little trickier, so Spymaster had Glitch cause a diversion. Once chaos broke loose, she got out with Temujin. The man who was once the Mandarin was in a sorry state, but Spymaster didn't care much. She had only been paid to get him out. Which is exactly what she did.

Unexpected Company @ 06:38 pm

To say that she was uncomfortable would be a huge understatement. Natasha was huge, clumsy, and very awkward. With two weeks left in this pregnancy, she just wanted it to be over already. Knowing her luck, this kid would be late prolonging her discomfort. Currently she was stretched out on the couch with her feet up. Her ankles were swollen and achy and her back had been hurting almost non-stop. All of it just helped to make her cranky, which is probably why Tony was down in the lab. There had been a lot of growling and grumbling this morning and her husband had retreated out of the line of fire. Natasha was enjoying the last few moments of quiet she would get in a very long time. That quiet was about to be interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing. Natasha sighed and slid off the edge of the couch, carefully getting to her feet. It had to be someone they knew since not just anyone could get up here. She opened the door was a little surprised to see who was standing there. "Nick?"

Delivering the News @ 06:05 pm

Nick Donnelly entered the gym and saw the man he was looking for across the room working on the speed punching bag. Nick took a deep breath and approached his great-uncle. His grandmother and Nick Fury were siblings and Fury was Nick's godfather, but that's about where things left off. His uncle had always made sure Nick's family was good and safe, but he never really interacted with them. Nick had always wondered why his uncle never came to family functions, but Nick understood why when he joined SHIELD. Fury had kept a distance to protect them. The man had enough enemies to fill a few countries and he had kept them away from the family by staying away from the family. Over Nick's SHIELD career he had gotten to know his uncle better and was glad he did. "Excuse me, sir," Nick said as he approached Nick Fury. "I came to give you the results from the analysis of the drones." Nick Fury stopped his workout and turned around to face his nephew. "Well? What is it?" This had to be bad news. Nick didn't waiver under his uncle's intense gaze. "They're Stark designs, sir."

Containment @ 05:52 pm
nextgen_parent:
Nick Fury stood in the three story high bridge of the Helicarrier. The massive flying ship was stationed just outside the border of Latveria. Metal Face was stirring up trouble, or so they were led to believe. Vernard was considerate enough to keep SHIELD in the loop to what was going on, but Nick had his own intelligence on the situation at hand. He had to keep this from getting out of hand and from spreading. He turned away from the large screens. "Listen up ya yahoos," he said in a booming voice. "I want SHIELD forces all around Latveria, Wakanda, Genosha, and Atlantis. Stay outside the respective borders, but I don't want this spreadin' anywhere else. Get our forces movin'." A chorus of 'Yes sir' echoed in the expansive bridge. It would stretch SHIELD a little thin elsewhere, but containment was a priority.

It's all about perception @ 01:17 am
sammyfury:
When the summons came, there was no mistaking the tone. Sammy would either answer it under her own steam, or she would be escorted in. Carried in if necessary. Col. Fury was just that persuasive. She hadn't spoken to him since her debriefing after Mikel's capture. Hadn't wanted to speak to him. Mom was letting them work it out, no matter how long it took. It wasn't going to take long if Col. Fury was going to throw his weight around. Sammy presented herself at Dad's office door and waited for her turn in his daily schedule.

Night was settling over the city and in S.H.I.E.L.D. Central the night shift was just coming on duty and settling in for the night. It looked like it was going to be a rather quiet night. Just like last night, the one before that, the one before that and so on.

Scorpio's Sting @ 01:40 am
ng_zodiac:
Mikel Fury had held his breath when they passed through the main security checkpoint to S.H.I.E.L.D. Central. He knew Sammy would get through with no problems since she was Daddy’s Little Girl and Golden Child, but he the rest of his team could have been a huge problem. He didn't need the mission failing before they got a foot in the door. Thankfully Aquarius and Sagittarius made getting in a lot easier with the use of their powers. Mikel had selected well when he put his team together. The team entered the elevator and Mikel pushed the button for the top floor. The Old Man was waiting and Mikel was sure that by now he knew Mikel was in the building.

There were times when Nick Fury hated his job. Now was one of them. Stark and Tasha had been brought into S.H.I.E.L.D. medical not long after the bomb went off and had been immediately isolated. It wasn't good. Natasha had some third degree burns, a broken arm and a concussion. She got off lucky compared to her husband. Stark was a lot worse than his wife. Third degree burns over most of his body, shattered ribs, punctured lung, compound fractures in one leg and one arm. It was amazing the man was alive. Though he had to give Stark credit. He had used his body to shield Tasha from most of the blast. Stark was in isolation, the bed surrounded by plastic and only people in sterilized outfits and masks could enter. The worst things about bad burns was the risk of infection. Forensic teams were already going over the what was left of the car. Not that they would find much, but if they did find anything it could lead to the identity of the person trying to kill Stark. It was Stark's car and Nick had to believe he was the target and not Tasha. Now came the hard part. Nick dialed his godson's number.

Trying that outside life thing... @ 01:29 am
sammyfury:
Current Mood: adventurous
With the summer stretching ahead of her, Sammy had to do something other than help clean the hydrobase and train. She told her parents she wanted the summer to relax and suspected relaxing meant a little more than wasting a few thousand rounds at the shooting range. A girl didn't get a life with a pair of noise-canceling headphones on. She found her first outside activity in the paper. Rooftop Films seemed like it might be fun, and it was something she didn't need a date to see. The open bar afterward would be decided on when the time came.

Dinner and Secrets @ 07:09 pm
sammyfury:
After a cold shower (necessary between the hot day and the hot Iason), and a short nap (stress and the lack of sleep for a couple of weeks), Sammy was at her parents' front door ready for dinner and discussions about the past and the future.
