To Callaway
Parker didn't have any injuries to speak of. He was very clear that he wanted to get out of the fucking hospital as soon as he possibly could. As the members of the team questioned him, he was short with his answers, sullen at best and belligerent at worst. They reassured him that they'd called Callaway and that the man would be there soon, but Parker had almost told them not to call because he didn't know if he was ready to see the man. Sure, Reagan had mentioned that the man had been waiting for him, but could he really trust to hope for something so amazing? In Parker's experience, he didn't get such a good thing twice, especially after he'd treated it so poorly the first time around.

Everyone had left him alone, moving on to the next victim, the next little headline or piece of the puzzle depending on how you looked at it. The silence of the little exam room was almost too much to bear and before he knew it, he found himself on the floor with his knees up to his chest, sobbing as quietly as he could.

Elijah closed his eyes as his arms slipped around Parker in return, and he held onto him for a long moment before he finally let go so that Parker could pull away.

"I haven't," he said softly, "I think he's with his family, though. Or that they're on their way. He probably wants to see you, though."

Ahaha, 'have you seen Parker.' Woops! Also, I'm going to get Trace to pull Murphy up

Parker nodded and made sure Callaway had given Shay the number before he led the man back out into the hall. It was easy to figure out where Murphy was because agents were milling around outside of his room just like they had been with Elijah and Shay.

He pushed past any resistance and went inside, finding Murphy by himself. "Hey," he said, feeling guilty about how he'd snapped at him when they'd been rescued. "Everything okay?"

They had put Murphy in a hospital bed and they'd given him medication for his asthma. His parents were on the way. His brother. Seth. They were all coming to see him and he honestly had no idea what he was going to do with himself now that he was going home. Leaving Adam and the basement and all the other boys. He'd been slowly falling apart and when the agents left him alone in the room he slipped off of the bed and went to sit in the corner near the wall. It was where he'd always gone to sit in the cage when he was feeling like he needed to be safe. Tucked away in the corner out of sight of the other boys. Murphy had pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped one arm around them. His other hand was up next to his head and he was twirling his fingers in his hair. It had gotten so long. Adam had cut it for him every now and again, when they were having good days. It had been a while because he'd been so caught up in Reagan. When the door opened he kept his head down, fingers tightening in his own hair. Parker's voice made him glance up and he looked over at him. The boy looked ready to go home, he looked happy. Murphy wasn't even close to it. To being ready to go back to his life. It wasn't even his life anymore.

"Hi." He said softly, lowering his head back down.

Callaway wrote down his number on an old receipt from his wallet and handed it over to Shay with a tired smile before he took Parker's hand to follow him out of the room and down the hall to Murphy's room. He slipped inside with Parker, but when he saw how upset the boy looked, he put a hand on Parker's shoulder.

"I'll be right by the door," he said softly, figuring that the two could use a moment alone.

Parker felt a flicker of panic when Callaway said that. He reached for his hand, not wanting to let him go. But the sight of Murphy on the floor made his gut twist and gave him some courage to go forward.

Getting down on the floor, Parker slipped his arms around the boy. "Murphy, it's okay. You'll feel better when your family gets here. I didn't think I'd be able to handle it, but Callaway's here now. I want you to meet him. You'll be okay once they get here." As if his family and boyfriend would snap back into place that last piece that was needed to get back to his real life and not the hell they'd been living in the basement.

When Parker sat down next to him he wanted to pull away but there was no where else to go. He just tugged at his hair a little more and kept his eyes on his knees. "It's not okay." It wasn't going to be okay for him, not the way it was for everyone else was. "It's not going to be okay. I'm never going to see you again." He wasn't going to see any of the other boys or Adam. And he wasn't going to admit that because he knew that Parker would just snap at him or get angry and he didn't want the last time they talked to be weighed down by anger. "I don't want to meet Callaway." He didn't want to go home, he just wanted to go back down to the little cage. "It's not going to be the same, my brother will be different, Seth won't be there. He wouldn't wait for me."

Standing in the hall, just outside the doorway, Callaway spotted Liam down the way and waved him over. The man looked just as much of a wreck as Callaway did, and Callaway hadn't realized that Liam's husband had been one of the missing men.

"Thank you," he said softly once Liam was in earshot. "He's worried about his writings... His notebooks and laptop, do you guys have that? He'd really like it back."

Parker glanced over at Callaway, nervous that he might wander off even though he'd said he would stay right there. Or that if he was away from him for too long, he'd wake up from the dream. When he was assured that Callaway was still close by, he hugged Murphy more tightly. Pressing his face in against his neck, trying to force him to open up a little, Parker sighed a warm breath against him. "Vegas won't be different. And you will see me again. I was scared too. Elijah and Shay are going all the way back to New Jersey, but you're closer, right? West Virginia is closer. I'll visit you. You can visit me. Please don't be so sad, Murphy." He smoothed his hand through Murphy's hair.

Liam glanced in on the two, frowning at the aftermath of all of this. "We'll be using them as evidence. It's important that we keep them for now, but I assure you we have them and we'll return them as soon as we can." He rubbed his hand over his face. "I'm sorry it took 5 years."

Murphy was falling apart, but he tried to stay calm because he knew that completely losing it wasn't going to make this easier on Parker. Putting his hand up against his face, he just held it there while he tried to settle himself down. He didn't want to go back to the way things were. Not now, not after three years. But he knew he was the only one that felt that way and he wasn't going to keep Parker from Callaway. "You should really go. Callaway is waiting for you and you probably just need to go." He couldn't keep him there any longer.

"As long as it's safe and he'll get it back, and don't apologize. Thank you so much for bringing them all back," Callaway said with a nod as he reached out to squeeze Liam's shoulder. "Are you all right?" he asked with a worried expression, his brow knitting together in show of concern. "I know that it's... troublesome that the man who took them all is still out there, but at least you got everyone back where they belong."

Liam really did look haggard, utterly frazzled. He seemed to be able to focus more on Callaway when he came out with the insight to ask him if he was all right. "It's very important that we catch him. But I'm very glad they're all back."

"I want you to meet him," he said firmly. Murphy was important to him now and he wanted Callaway to know him. "Please?" He tugged a little at Murphy's arm, wanting him to get up. He wondered if this was what his family had felt like when he'd needed to go to the mental hospital. As if something so simple as standing up would snap Murphy out of his depression and panic.

Murphy had always had trouble telling anyone no. Parker especially. He started twirling his hair again but he let Parker pull him up to his feet and out of the corner of the room. None of the nurses had managed it, but he couldn't deny Parker anything. He followed him over near the door and he stopped there, not wanting to go any further because he really didn't want to meet Callaway. The man was going to be taking Parker for him and it didn't seem fair. It didn't seem right. They'd been side by side everyday for three years and now he didn't think he was ever going to get to see him again because of this Callaway person.

Callaway nodded his head at Liam and he turned to let the man go as Parker came towards the door with Murphy in tow. Murphy was smaller than Parker, and much thinner, and he looked like a mess. Callaway's heart went out to the boy, and he offered a sad smile of understanding.

"Hello," he said softly.

Parker held onto Murphy, making sure that he would walk all right. He was clearly protective of the boy. "This is Murphy. I wrote about him a lot." And he'd been the most angry with him at times, but only because Murphy reminded him of his darkest parts, his depression and his fears sometimes.

Seeing the two of them close together was surreal for Parker. Those two worlds combined were mind boggling but he knew he'd have to work to integrate them. He wrote down Callaway's number on another piece of paper. "You're going to call me, right?"

Murphy said nothing to Callaway. Instead he just eyed him, feeling a little bit like this man was taking away what was his. But to be fair, Callaway had had Parker first and Parker hadn't ever been his. He was aware that Parker was only his friend out of necessity and that if it hadn't been for being locked in cages side by side, Parker probably never would have even looked at him on the street or anywhere else. Murphy chewed on his bottom lip and when Parker handed him Callaway's number he just looked down at it. He wasn't sure. He didn't know if he could deal with that. But he knew if he told Parker no the boy would insist so he just nodded and folded the piece of paper up. He was wearing a pair of hospital scrubs so he didn't have anywhere to put it, so he just kept it in his hand. "Bye." he whispered, his voice full of defeat.

Callaway frowned, his brow furrowing in concern to see just how emotionally broken this boy was. He couldn't help but wonder if Murphy had always been that way, or if it had been what Adam had done to him. How he'd kept him locked away from the world. He really hoped that this young man had family on their way to help him and to be there for him.

Parker's eyes were watering and he knew he was going to cry again. The hollowness in Murphy was far too much for him to bear. "G'bye," Parker said quickly, trying to back out of the room before the embarrassment of tears came. The idea that Murphy was so unhappy was killing Parker because he didn't know what to do about it and he knew the way the depths of despair felt. He wanted to rescue his friend, but he knew he couldn't.

Once they were back out in the hall, Parker pushed his face against Callaway's chest and cried as quietly as he could.

Callaway wrapped Parker up in his arms with ease, and he held onto the younger man tightly as he dipped his head down to press a kiss to the top of his head.

"He needs time to heal," he murmured softly. "You all do, I imagine, but it looks as if he does most of all. He has family, right? I'm sure they love him very much, and they'll do all that they can for him."

At the very least, Parker knew about Vegas and how close the two of them were. If Murphy had nothing else, Parker knew he had Vegas. "Yeah, he has family. And a boyfriend he doesn't think is coming back. I didn't think you were coming back--I know how horrible that feels."

It just felt good to have Callaway calming him. He couldn't believe how much he'd taken it for granted the years that he'd known him. When Callaway used to try to calm him, sometimes it would only make him more upset and he'd fly off the handle. Now, he felt more appreciative of it.

Callaway kept a solid hold of Parker, only pulling away once he was sure that the younger man was all right. He pressed a kiss to Parker's mouth and smoothed a gentle hand through his hair.

"I'll always be here," he said softly. "Always."

Wallowing in that for a few moments, Parker let the words sink deep inside. He was going to hold Callaway to that this go around. He was going to try not to push him away, or at least that was his goal.

"I'd love to go home now. Is the dog huge now? We can keep calling him Dog if you want." He kind of liked that name with the story behind it.

"He's pretty big now," Callaway said softly as he gave Parker a squeeze, and he pulled back to look at Parker with a tired but very content smile. "Lets go home and see him," he added as he lifted a hand to smooth Parker's hair back.

The thought of taking Parker home was like a dream, one of the best Callaway had ever had.

He was going to have to just trust that Murphy would call him if he needed him. The boy hadn't offered him his number and he'd been afraid to ask. Maybe he could get it from one of the agents later. He interlocked his hands with Callaway's and let him lead the way out. He'd been discharged with the promise that the agents would be in touch if they needed anything else from him.

Getting into Callaway's car was surreal, being out in the open was mind boggling. He held onto the door handle quite tightly, staring wide-eyed out at the street as it passed.

Callaway put some mellow music on low as he drove. He was quiet, but the silence was oddly comfortable, and he reached over with his free hand to take a hold of Parker's while he drove.

"You can talk to me you know," he said softly. "Whenever you want, whenever you're ready. If you want. I'm here, all right?"

Parker's attention was drawn from the window and his lips curled up in the slightest of sardonic smiles. "You had to say it, didn't you." He wasn't mad, more just amused. It made him feel like a psych case, damaged goods. But maybe he was and he knew Callaway was just being nice.

There was a small silence and then he squeezed Callaway's hand, not letting him pull away if he'd wanted to. "Do you really want to know? I mean all of it?"
