Little Things
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]agent_anarchy)

As you can see, Kierstin has been single handedly keeping this comm going. You are a trooper and we salute you!

We're still here, just slow as hell.

The pb list is COMPLETELY out of date. I don't know if I want to fix it or just throw it out altogether. Opinions?

ALSO: I'd like to do a character listing something akin to this. This would be a way to get rid of the pb listing too, since the icons would be a part of the new listing. I'd want from you: name (and PB), residence, DOB (if they have one), and any other pertinent little details like job or education stuff (do they attend one of the colleges, do they work at the PMHF?). I dunno if this would be a ridiculously huge undertaking, but it would really streamline the community and help us remember who's playing what and maybe generate some new plot ideas.

I know I'm getting rid of some characters I never play (and Joey deleted the christos: you can update you flist HERE.) Also, I'm thinking of redoing the layout again (since some of the functionality is not what I'd like it to be). Questions? Comments? Concerns?

(Thread) Thursday. Unexpected Trans Atlantic Calls [Breton / Takuma]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

Four o'clock in the morning found Takuma laying awake in bed. He'd been trying for the past couple of hours to fall asleep but sleep wouldn't come. He blamed this solely on the fact that he had to be up, showered, dressed and out the door in less than five hours.

Turning over, he gave a sigh in frustration.

On the pillow next to him, Mister Kitty was tucked into bed, sleeping soundly. She half purred, half snored in her sleep. Takuma couldn't help but think 'aww' but he was still jealous that Mister Kitty wasn't have issues with insomnia.

Climbing out of bed, he made his way to the kitchen to get something to drink. Some hot tea, herbal of course, would help calm his nerves and help Takuma to sleep he decided and set to boil some water.

As he reached into the cupboard for a box of sleepy time tea, Takuma knocked his cell phone to the floor. He had no idea how it wound up in with the tea but he assumed it had everything to do with Mister Kitty.

Shrugging at the thought, he reached down and picked up the small black flip phone. It was too early in the morning to give anyone in the city a call and ask to chat, however there was a six hour time difference between New York and London, and he was sure it was late enough in the morning over there to give Breton a call. It had been a long time since he spoke to his friend and thought what better time to give him a ring than now.

(Thread) Thursday. Late evening. Local Bar.[Open]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

" 'Go out', he says." There was a pause, and Alex pulled a sickened face in the mirror and closed his eyes.

" 'Go out, you're growing into the couch, he says. Why do I bloody listen to him? I should have stayed home." He turned around and paced a small circle in the empty men's rest room of a small bar he had wandered into.

He was talking to himself originally trying to talk himself down from a panic attack. He'd left his medication at home, besides, he didn't really want to be taking it while he was out drinking.

It was Wednesday, exactly one week from the DQ New Year's Eve / One Year Anniversary party he'd attended only to find his pseudo-girl friend banging the DJ. It hadn't been a good week for Alexander. Only one week in and already he despised 2009.

Elle sat in her chair with her elbows leaning on her desk, her head in her hands. She sighed deeply and shook her head. "I still can't believe you made me come here Temperance, I fucking hate this place."

Temperance shifted in her chair, feeling uncomfortable. "You know this was for the best."

"You've been telling me that for months and nothing has felt like it's for the best," her temper flared.

(Thread) Chance Meeting in the Rain & Strange Introductions [Angie / Alex / Ben]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

The door slammed shut in the wind and it made Angie jump a bit. The door was lighter than she expected and much looser on it's hinges than she expected. She shivered a little at the sudden loss of cold and wetness. She had just stepped into a small tea shop.

Angie had never been in this place before but stopped in while passing by. She was far from her place, clear across town and it had started to rain harder. She ducked into the shop to avoid getting soaked and to try and warm up a bit.

There was a small crowd of people inside. Not enough to say the place was busy but there were enough people to make the assumption this shop did serve quality drinks. It was a small shop but didn't seem too cluttered and the smell of herbal teas and various mix-ins filled the air. A dull chatter mixed with soft music playing set the tone.

She made her way up to the counter to order a green tea flavored with blueberries. She wasn't all that thirsty but looked forward to the tea warming her up.

(Thread) Not So Typical Saturday Night [Alex& Angie with an early appearence of Ben]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

It was a Saturday night; a cold and rainy Saturday night in the middle of November. The time was just about ten thirty and Alexander Williams was laying in the dark. He was shut up inside his room and was curled up in bed. His head was against one of the many pillows. He had the covers pulled up around him, tucked tightly under his chin. His eyes were closed but he was most definitely not asleep. He couldn't sleep. Not this early in the night and not when he had all sorts of things on his mind. He didn't want to think about any of the things but they were there, pecking away at his brain cells and final strings of sanity. He could feel the start of a migraine coming along.

Slowly he opened his eyes and the glowing blue light of his clock radio burning the time into his retinas. He shut his eyes again and cursed. He'd picked a blue colored light on his radio in hopes it wouldn't be as bright as the green ones were and the blue was easier to see than the red. Either way, the blue was just as bright as the green and Alexander did not like that. He noted that he'd stop off to buy a new one Monday after work.

He was jolted from thought when there came a knock on the door.

What do you want? )

Oh Baby. For Real.
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Tilly couldn't wait to take the pregnancy test. She'd missed her period, which came like clockwork every month. She rushed home from work a full two hours early and stopped at a pharmacy on the way. Her hands were shaking as she ripped through the plastic surrounding the box. She was practically bounding out of her skin as she tore the stick out of the box and retired into the bathroom to pee on it.

Travis heard the raucous from his bedroom where he'd been working on his next comic. It was due up in a few hours, but he was almost done. He moved toward the bathroom and knocked on the door. "You okay Tilly?" he asked.

She almost peed on her hand when he knocked and sighed relief when she realized it was just Travis checking up on her. "I'm fine. I'm fabulous," she called. "Well, maybe. We'll find out in 30 seconds."

He closed his eyes and shook his head. Dear God, he thought. She's already knocked up? He waited outside, pacing in the hall while Tilly sat on the toilet, the stick never leaving her hand for a moment. She waited until the little monitor gave her a reading, pants around her ankles.

"TRAVIS!" she screamed excitedly, leaping off the toilet, taking only enough time to half-assedly pull her pants back up. "Travis I'm having a BABY!"

He wanted to slap himself awake. He loved his sister. He loved that she was so happy. But Travis was terrified of being Uncle Travis and babysitting and all night crying sessions with a new baby. He hitched a grin up as Tilly burst from the bathroom and hugged him tightly. "Congratulations," he said, making it sound as genuine as he could manage.

(Thread) Opening Up About Secrets [open to Kevin]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

Emily had been locked away in her room all morning. It was a dreary Sunday afternoon and the weather outside strongly reflected all she was feeling inside.

Aleera was with a friend for the weekend, staying with Hedwig Friday night through Monday morning. It was the weekly routine since Emily felt so disconnected from the world. She was happy her dear friend loved kids and never minded taking Emily's mini-me (as so many people called little Aleera, who was very much a little clone of her mother) for the weekends.

Emily hadn't noticed how much her down and out, almost sour mood was affecting Kevin, her roommate, her fiance, the love of her life. It wasn't until a comment was left in her online journal that she realized how much of her life had been cut off from the world around her. She realized then, how much she'd been keeping from him and it made her even sadder. She had unintentionally hurt the only person, save her daughter, whom Emily loved more than anything else in the world. She didn't mean to hurt Kevin, and she would do anything to take it all back. She decided, finally, it was time to talk.

She was sitting in her room on the foot of the bed, absently fingering a small computer print out of a photograph, the edges of the shiny paper worn and frayed. She gripped the photo in her hands and stood, walking towards the door. She glanced down at the picture and did her best to hold back tears.

She walked down the hall, to Kevin's room. Yes, they still kept separate rooms despite spending most nights with one another in either room. Lately, however, they'd been sleeping alone.

Emily raised her hand to the wood and gave a quiet knock. "Kev," she started slowly. "Can I come in?" she asked, choking back tears.

Confessions
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

He paced in the hallway, the sound of his boots echoing down the empty space. He'd been pretending to mop about fifteen minutes ago, but he gave up pretense in favor of nervous pacing. Tonight was the night he was going to tell her.

He waited until she snuck out of the women's dorm. She stood before him, unbelievably enticing in her pajamas, which happened to include one of his shirts. He wasn't even sure how she'd managed to swipe it out of his locker, but it was definitely his. "Kylie," he said, a little admonishing as she inserted herself into his arms. "If they catch you in my clothes I'll get the boot."

"How are they going to know it's yours?" she challenged, leaning up the half an inch in their height difference to plant a kiss on his lips.

He picked her up and swept her around. )

Oh Baby.
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

"You sure about this Tilly?" Travis asked nervously.

She rolled her eyes as she turned her head to look at him. "I'm not getting any younger Travis. Do you see men falling out of the sky for me?"

He replied with a frown. It wasn't like men were falling out of the sky for him either. "So you freeze some eggs and wait a bit."

"I'm not waiting Travis. I have the money and the means. I'm just going to get myself knocked up now."

Travis might have choked if he'd been drinking something. As it was the nice looking couple sitting on the couch near Tilly's chair made a little "harumphing" sound. It didn't much make a difference to Tilly. She was doing this. She was going to have a baby, even if it meant hijacking sperm from a fertility clinic.

(Thread) At home in Pleastentview [Wynn / Dylan]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

Arriving home from a trip to the store, Wynn Dowell stood outside the front door to the house he shared with his younger brother. Balancing his shopping bags, filled with a couple groceries he knew they'd need for the week, he fumbled with the keys to unlock the door. He struggled a couple times, trying his hardest to get the key he needed free from the mass of keys on his chain and into the lock. He was having more than a difficult time and after a few failed attempts, the keys slipped from his grip and fell with a clang to the porch.

Muttering to himself, he knocked loudly on the door.

"Dylan!" he called through the thick wooden door, wrapping loudly at the glass window. He only hoped that his brother was there to let him inside.

Only More Trouble To Come...
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]tookawrongturn)

"She's here," he said quietly, wincing a bit in the bright morning light. He would have preferred it if they could come at night, but the visiting hours wouldn't allow it. They had to come now.

"How do you know?" his companion asked with a frown. She didn't mind the light as much as he did, though she had learned over their years of traveling together that it was one of his weaknesses.

"I know a lot of things I'm not supposed to," he replied with a little grin, shaking his head. These were things that she should know by now, but continued to ask anyway.

She sighed heavily. "I'm not confident about this," she said suddenly. "I just have a weird feeling."

"There's no need for your worry," he replied smoothly. "I am a master of all things subterfuge and you have a gift for achieving any endeavor you set out toward."

"My gift hasn't been tested in a long time."

"Nor has mine," he replied, eyes bright with trouble. "This should prove fun." They entered the tall building called Pleasantview Mental Health Facility, smiling at a well dressed woman sitting behind the desk in the front hall. "We'd like to visit a patient," Aragon said easily.

The woman, Valerie looked at him as she would any other. "Which patient?" she asked in a crisp, business tone.

"Adelle Wyndham," he replied smartly. "She's my cousin," he added for good measure, thinking if necessary he could whip out the fake ID he had worked up for Adelle and himself.

Evangeline and Adelle speak in the PMHF
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]tookawrongturn)

Evangeline sat at her desk, reading the case file on patient 1563. It wasn't terribly thick; she'd only woken from the coma days ago and the preliminary report on the woman was spotty at best.

She claimed that her name was Adelle Wyndham, though no such name could be found on record in the state. It was clear that she was foreign, maybe British, but she had no passport or supporting identification when she turned up, taken to the mental health unit at the local hospital by the police officer that picked her up.

She was confused and rambling, almost hit by a car. She shied away from anyone who tried to take a statement, only repeating her name and that she didn't belong here. After a few days at the MHU she was transferred to Pleasantview Mental Health. Her condition did not improve; it only deteriorated until she was in a catatonic state and shortly after, a coma. She remained at Pleasantview in a private room, given the best care that the facility had to offer.

After a few days she awoke again. )

Party Time! (Open to literally anyone who saw the posters)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]mccalliganclan)

Jasper had told her she was crazy for doing it, but Ethne never really listened to her little brother when he made those claims. He told her not to put posters up all over the cities letting people know about her party. She asked him how was she supposed to meet people if she didn't throw a party? He couldn't answer, but she took his silence as answer enough.

Either way, she put up the posters letting everyone know that there was a party at her and Temperance's apartment. The front door was open, it was BYOB, and Ethne was wearing one of her favorite outfits. Her hair was curled, and Declan had already arrived. The siblings were in the kitchen, working on some Irish Car Bombs and chatting back and forth about general things; the city, moving, their family and the like while waiting for people to show up for the party.

Narrative - Adelle Wakes Up
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]tookawrongturn)

Adelle woke, startled and shivering. Her head was still throbbing, threatening to crash into her stomach which was already churning in angry waves.

Something wasn't right here.

She moved slowly, afraid to upset the delicate balance of pain in the wrong direction. It was strangely bright here, brighter than it had been in the tower. She remembered sleeping in agony as her head threatened to burst open from all of the terrible visions pent up there.

This was place was different. For a moment she thought she'd been moved, or perhaps released by her captors, but that wasn't the case, she could sense it. Something was distinctly off about this place, the very air smelled unique to her homelands among the house Arcane.

This was a new world, held together by very thin fabric. It had stretched and bent in some inexplicable way and now she was here, chilled to the very core. Panic was sweeping up from the floor to claim her and she narrowly missed it, breathing deep to calm herself.

She looked around the plain room where she was kept. A bed and nightstand, the bed made of metal which was a novel concept for Adelle. The lighting came from above, some kind of magic called electricity that she hadn't yet discovered. There was a window with a metal grate covering it from the outside, and this was something Adelle was used to. It was dark outside, perhaps late night or early morning. She was disoriented enough that it didn't matter. She stepped gingerly from the bed and moved toward the door that kept her imprisoned. She tried the handle but it wouldn't work, only jiggled and refused to let her out.

She was a captive again, but her keepers were very different in this world.

She called out, quietly at first. Her voice was hoarse and didn't sound right to her own ears. It was as if centuries had passed since the last time she had used it and she couldn't recognize the sound. "Hello?" she called. "Please, can someone help me?"

No one came for a very long time and Adelle didn't want to bother if no one could hear her. She crawled back into the metal framed bed which so amazed her and waited until the sun rose before trying again to garner someone's attention.

All night cafe, late Monday night (Aina/Stuart)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]tookawrongturn)

Aina wasn't looking for a victim tonight. She'd already left a corpse down a back alley two towns over. No, tonight she was looking for someone to talk to over a cup of coffee that tasted like bricks in her stomach. She wanted companionship, the kind she couldn't get from West. She was hanging around the city a little longer tonight, lingering in an all night cafe and hoping someone around here was as lonely as she was.

(Thread) Open to Harper
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

"Viktor! Stop! Just go lay down!" Jon yelled to the dog, who folded his ears back and whimpered. The three year old husky had been pestering Jon while he was trying to work.  Jon stood up from the chair at his desk and looked down at the dog. "I'm sorry." he said for raising his voice. He didn't do it often he was just quite stressed. He'd been working for weeks on a project for work and only hours before he needed to submit the file to his boss, his computer crashed and he'd lost everything.

Looking at the dog once more and smiling apologetically as if the dog would understand his frustrations, he reached out and pet the dog gently on the top of his head. He made sure the dog left the office the same time he did, unable to trust the devious animal in his work space.

He wandered down the hall in search of Harper, the dog had run off to hide in the bathroom, likely curling up on the bath mat next to the shower.

"Liefste?" he called, a name that he'd been calling the other man for as long as he could remember. He wondered where Harper had gone, if he was home at all.

[Thread] Pleasantview Community College (Open)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]wickedcharacter)

After getting off of work Star realized that she needed two more books before fall session started up. She knew that it was insanely early to be worried about her books, but she always liked getting a head start on her studies. So, after a bit of a bus ride, she walked across the campus and headed into the bookstore.

Twenty minutes later she was sitting on a bench in the quad, reading the introduction to her psychology book. After getting through the introduction, she paused her reading and looked up, glancing around to see if she recognized anyone from her classes the semester before. She had debated on taking classes during the summer, but she had never done so before. She figured that if she saw someone she had seen in class before, she could pick their brains about summer classes.
