Names
They story goes that names -- their meanings, their personal significance in a family -- can end up having influence on a person. What do you think?

Couldn't say, myself. If I'd been a boy, Mom wanted to name me after my grandfather, Vernon Van Dyne. Dad just wanted 'Something French.' So they went with Vernique. French and before that Greek for Bringer of Victory. Same etymology as the name Bernice, so some would say I lucked out in that I didn't end up named Bernie.

I certainly like it.

Dad told me it was because he and Mom like Jerry the mouse of Tom and Jerry but Mom said it was after an old boyfriend of hers and she liked the name. I’m still not sure which to believe.

It's funny when the stories don't add up, isn't it?

Yes it is, and both says the other is lying when I try confronting them on it. I swear it seems like they have no idea where my name came from.
