Names
They story goes that names -- their meanings, their personal significance in a family -- can end up having influence on a person. What do you think?

Couldn't say, myself. If I'd been a boy, Mom wanted to name me after my grandfather, Vernon Van Dyne. Dad just wanted 'Something French.' So they went with Vernique. French and before that Greek for Bringer of Victory. Same etymology as the name Bernice, so some would say I lucked out in that I didn't end up named Bernie.

I certainly like it.

Mom wanted Dad to name me, and Dad wanted something that wouldn't be too out of place in New Morlaidh. Sir Dinadan was a close friend of Sir Tristan (which is where I got 'Tris' from), and was known for being a witty joker who thought that courtly love was a waste of time.

I'm...not entirely sure what that says about my parents' expectations of me.

Wasn't he the one also known for paying attention to people instead of their clothes or armor? There are worse knights to be named after.

He was, actually. Sir Tristan didn't even recognize King Arthur until Sir Dinadan told him who he was.
