Minister's Birthday Gala! Open to Everyone!
Katerina let out a long, bored breath. It seemed like the Ministry had been holding an extravagant event every other weekend, as if they had nothing better to do. Of course there was so much to be done every day of every week, but with You-Know-Who gone and most of the death eaters either dead or behind bars, it seemed like the events committee had way too much time on their hands.

At least she got to go dress shopping. As Katerina declined a dance from a fellow in her department, she wondered if she actually had to wait for the Minister to blow out the candles of her cake before she could leave. It was supposed to be such an honor to be invited to these events, but when everyone was invited it took away the glamor, and then you were expected to sit around for a good two hours so that your department head could make sure you were making him look good.

She really needed a drink, or a hot bloke to start talking to her. On days like this Katerina envied her older sister, whose sole purpose in life was to marry rich, pureblooded men. It only took her a few moments to recall that her sister had seven dead husbands to deal with, and now a son for the rest of her life. Yes---Katerina would much rather be forced to mingle at these events than carry those sort of stories on her shoulders.

But, at the moment, she was bored, and let out a sigh in hopes that some handsome bloke would become concerned.

Archie my love!

Since Ernie had been born, Izzie had felt like her life had finally found its natural state of well-being. Her chakra was clear, she loved her husband and son more than anything she'd ever cared about before in her life, and it seemed like the MacMillans were just making good decision after good decision. Of course, it could be the fact that the war was over that had her thinking so positively, because just months prior to You-Know-Who's demise, Archie had been kidnapped and tortured...

...Izzie was very good at putting all those terrible battle wounds behind her and focus on the positives she had in her life. Like--Archie was still as wonderful as always. Ernie was a spitting image of his father and the sweetest little boy. Her yoga studio was expanding! Everything was going well. And, yet, she wanted a change. The change was still going along with the idea of Izzie adoring her life, but it was big change she wasn't sure her husband would agree with. It didn't help that all her not-so-subtle hints toward Archie were going unnoticed.

Izzie hoped her not-so-subtle 'make you want to have sex with me right now' dress would help Archie realize that she wanted another baby, without bopping him over the head with the idea. She turned to her husband and slapped his thigh,

"We! Should! Dance!" Each word was punctuated with another playful snap, and Izzie smiled brightly.

This was a stupid, stupid idea. Brianna tried desperately not to pull up the front of her dress as that would look so...not chic and sophisticated. Two things that she'd never concerned herself with, as she had always been very fond of her appearance and her figure and her hair and her hips and it was not her fault that pregnancy changed your body forever!

It was Zach Sloper's fault.

Brianna realized as the fourth person got up to give some reminiscent speech about the Minister that the only reason she'd agreed to tag along to this event with one of the other healers from her year of interning was for the chance to see Zach outside of either of their flats. Outside of the hospital where she always looked and felt like a wreck. Outside one of his studios where he looked perfect and happy and surrounded by beautiful women who liked him and thought he was great.

God. She was naturally a jealous person, she was a redhead by birth, but she'd always been able to keep it subdued. Now here she was trying to impress the bloke she'd let get away because she'd been too concerned about herself. And now she was too humiliated to admit to that.

"Thanks," she muttered as a waiter offered her a glass of champagne. If she wanted to make it through the night she'd need a load of these.

Being a celebrity had never been on Zach's list of things he wanted to be. At eighteen, mostly he just wanted to hang out with his friends and do fuck-all. At nineteen, he'd just wanted to be with Brianna and Jack and do whatever it was with them that families did. Life didn't quite work out that way and here he was, a model and a celebrity. It allowed him to do some cool stuff like travel around and bring Jack places he'd never normally get to go (eventually, Zach hadn't thought about bringing that up to Brianna just yet) and it allowed for a comfortable lifestyle.

The downsides were the cameras and attention outside of being just a job. He hated the attention on Jack and Brianna, he honestly would rather be at home watching cartoons with his toddler than at this event. He was wearing just a simple black suit and hiding amongst his friends and hoping to make it an early night, get back to his flat and figure out a way to get some plans with Jack and Brianna, maybe propose an exchange over dinner. It really wasn't that fun at his place when his son wasn't there.

He was coming back from a trip to the loo (in order to avoid some rather interesting witches who wanted to be on his arm) when Zach stopped and spotted his ex. Not someone who would dress up (although looking very beautiful) and come to one of these things alone, Zach looked around immediately looking for another man. When he didn't spot one, Zach approached her quietly, his hands in his pockets so he didn't do something stupid, like touch one of those gorgeous shoulders. He had to be strong, he couldn't let her ignore him though. "Those end up going to your head pretty fast if you drink them too fast."

Brianna tried really hard not to look extremely excited that she'd not only run into Zach, but that he was the one that had approached her. Her attempt to hide this ridiculously childish feeling caused her face to burn a bright red. She laughed at his comment, and tried to add a dismissive gesture with her hand but instead forgot that she was holding the champagne glass in her hand and spilled a bit of it on the floor.

"Well--looks like it already--has," she stammered, feeling like an idiot and knowing she was doing it all to herself. There was no reason to be nervous around Zach. She'd known him for years, they'd dated for years, they'd seen each other naked, she bore his child, so why on earth was she feeling like this? Like she couldn't look him in the eye? It wasn't as if she didn't see him every other day when it came to Jack time, it wasn't as if she hadn't hung out with him or had dinner with him since they'd broken up, so why now, why was she getting so crazed?

She knew it was that stupid Tattler article, which she would not have even seen had it not been for a bratty nurse who Brianna had caught hanging a picture of Zach up in her locker. Now the idea of Zach moving on and finding someone to be with that wasn't her was driving her crazy, but who was she to get upset?

"Right, well I feel stupid," Brianna let out, looking down at the floor, and then around for a napkin. "Better keep me away from your girlfriend's dress when she comes around." Though honestly, if that girl from the Tattler came around, Brianna wouldn't really hesitate in pouring a drink down her dress.

Holly

Normally Theo hated going to such events at the Ministry. Especially now that all he ever did was actually do his work. His job was far less interesting when he wasn't spying.

But old habits died hard and he made sure to get a peek at the Guest list for the Minister's Birthday Gala and found he care just a little bit more once he saw Holly's name on the list.

If he didn't already know and invitation to join him as his date wouldn't just be turned down, he would have done that. But Holly liked to pretend to play hard to get, and she certainly didn't seem to mind when he just happened to show up and join her. And Theo didn't mind pretending that all their 'dates' were planned.

"Hello." he said with a small smile and handing her the rose he had picked out for her. "I'm so glad you could make it. This event would have been so dull without you."

Holly did not know what to call this thing she had with Theo Nott, because it did not even feel right to call it a relationship. She did not feel as if she could, or even if she wanted to, call him her boyfriend. He was a very good looking man, somewhat intelligent and quite mysterious; maybe she just enjoyed that he absolutely did not care at all that she was a famous quidditch player. Holly could not remember the last time she'd been out with a man more than once and had not had to discuss strategies or behind-the-scenes gossip, so...it felt rather good to be treated like a somewhat normal girl.

Of course, she still was quite the diva, so she wasn't allowing him to treat her like she was boring or ordinary, of course. Just not as a beastly, bitchy quidditch star, was all.

"I thought I owed the Minister my presence, to keep the party interesting," she said with a smile, taking the rose and putting it to her nose for a second in a flirty manner.

"I'm sure he, among many others, are more than grateful." He said taking two glasses of champagne from a passing waiter, handing one to Holly.

"But I would assume I top that list, as I would have been devastated to find myself without such a lovely date to such an event." He sipped his champagne glancing around the room to see if there was anyone he cared to introduce her too. There wasn't. He really did work with a dull lot.

"I can show you where our table is if you would like." he said offering his arm out to her.

Holly gladly took his arm, appreciating the graciousness in his manner even if she normally didn't like such flirtatious tactics. She was finding that not being as ridiculously aggressive as she was on the field, in real life, made for much happier evenings. Not that Holly allowed herself to be dragged around or pushed into things she didn't particularly feel like doing, but it was nice to take a break from constantly being on guard and in charge.

She wondered if it was from all her years trying to avoid the tabloids and papers. Sure she loved the spotlight, but she refused to be put out there looking poorly.

"Prime seating, I assume?" she asked with a wink. She wondered if he danced, but Holly wasn't even sure if she did.

Dedalus!

Eliza wasn't one for big gala events like this, but when the healers of St. Mungo's received invitations to the Minister's birthday, she felt a great sort of excitement jump up inside her. She blamed her desire to go to a ball and dress up on the baby girl she was carrying, but really had no qualms about it. She was more than happy to oblige with the extra femininity as she had never been much of a girly-girl herself. This new baby was showing Eliza a side of herself that she'd never tapped into before.

She sat at their table with her hands gently holding her small baby bump. Eliza was much calmer and more energized for this pregnancy than she had been with Eric's, but she supposed that every possible aspect of her and Dedalus' situation was the complete opposite of what it had been their first time around. Eliza's eyes were locked on the dance floor, a wide smile on her face at how happy everyone seemed to be, and didn't see Dedalus return to their seats until he his knees knocked into hers as he sat.

"Everything is so pretty," she said with a sigh.

Victoria wasn't sure what reason she had to come to the Ministry party - the Ministry was much closer to the people in Moose Jaw, mostly because the Wizarding population was just as remote as some of the other Muggle communities. She had mostly wanted to have an excuse to wear the lovely, bright dress that she had picked up and to be seen with Vinny. He'd been making her so happy lately, she wanted to show him off to everyone else.

She grinned widely, taking Vinny's hand and drawing him into the main room. "Do you think they're going to have cake? I think that if it's the Minister, they ought to have a really large one." Victoria had to admit that she'd always had large birthday cakes by virtue of having a large family and a mother who stayed home to take care of the livestock, but she meant a cake as tall as herself. There were wedding cakes like that, of course, but how cool would it be to have a cake that size for a birthday?

Vinny completely reciprocated Victoria's excitement. He'd gone literal years feeling as if he'd never be able to experience true happiness again, and then a whirlwind of a blonde named Victoria came back into his life. Vinny had always felt guilty for thinking she was so pretty and sexy back when he was on the Meteorites, but when Victoria came to England, something inside of him told him it was okay to pursue the feelings.

It also helped that they behaved like two kids in a all-you-can-eat candy store nearly 24/7. There were some days during this offseason where they didn't leave his bed, but that was because they'd built tents or were telling stories to each other for hours----and there of course was sex, but.

"It'll probably be a big production," he said, looking around for the cake, "Bringing out the giant thing, candles going all bonkers and whirly."

They were still young no matter how old Vinny had felt in the last few years - acting their age at least privately was something they should be allowed to do. She smirked, letting herself glance around to try and find the cake for herself. She also scanned for anyone that she might've been able to speak to later. Not that Vinny bored her, she just didn't want to smother him with her attention.

"I wonder if a naked bloke will jump out of it. That's probably too risque for a Ministry event, though." She snorted, shaking her head. "I still can't get over how huge your Ministry is here. I mean, I know that you're the centre of most of the Wizarding world...but still." She laughed. "I still don't know why you'd leave this place for Moose Jaw. I'd at least have gone somewhere warm. Like Brazil, maybe."
