Raffle Dates!
It was hard to say that the raffle was a bad idea when it raised so much money for W.Q.W., and while there wasn't an official number yet, even Henry seem pleased with the result. But standing outside the Montrose Pitch, Seth was having a hard time remembering why he thought a raffle would be more fun than a traditional auction, where you couldn't bid on someone's behalf without their knowledge, or at least being able to find out who did it.

Seth was all for just not going since he was pretty sure that neither of them would be heartbroken if the 'date' actually didn't happen but with the amount of press that was at the event, just skipping out on it altogether wasn't an option. Especially since Seth was on of the co-founders of the charity the whole event was held to support. After a thirty minute lecture from Henry, which was mostly a list of things he was under no circumstances allowed to do, even if she provoked it, he was allowed to leave. So here he was waiting on Odette MacFarlan to show.

He shoved his hands in his pockets trying not to think of all the other time Odette and he did stuff for the sake of publicity that ended in complete and utter disaster. He had changed since he was Captain of the Magpies, and he could certainly handle one perfectly cordial lunch with her.

OOC: Heyyy everyone, feel free to use this post to put up threads for your quidditch raffle dates! Bound to lots of potential drama lurking about with this so, have fun! :D

Kendall was actually looking forward to his raffle date this evening. He didn't get a chance to interact with fans all that often, so the fact that he got such an enthusiastic fan made him quite happy that he signed up for the raffle. That and the fact that she was quite pregnant (and he assumed married) save him from any potential awkward 'this is just dinner' conversations.

He knocked on her door, adjusting the collar of his shirt while he waited. He smiled brightly when door opened. "Mrs. Sloper." he said pleasantly, handing over the small bouquet of pink carnations. "I hope you don't mind that I brought you flowers."

Oh, she and her husband were going to get into such a fight. Brianna honestly could not see the reasons behind Zach's absolute hatred of the idea; he had to pose with beautiful models all the time and while---yes, she didn't particularly enjoy it, she trusted him enough to only tear out the pictures of the girls in the mag and leave his section in tact. Brianna had been a Kestrels fan since she'd learned how to fly, and with the hot streak her team was on it was only right to donate to her boys!

Twisting both her engagement and wedding band around her finger to get rid of the nerves she had, Brianna entered the restaurant. Though she felt like a whale, she really was not as huge as her notoriously low-pregnancy-self-esteem led her to believe. Her dress had just enough stretch to feel comfortable and fall naturally, and she had one less thing to be nervous about.

Except that was Kendall Broadmoor and he was giving her flowers. Brianna immediately turned as pink as the carnations and tried not to sound too squeaky, "Thank you so much! You didn't have to!"

"You are quite welcome. You look lovely by the way." Kendall said pulling out a chair for Brianna. Once she seated he took the settled in the seat across from her.

"So originally planned to take you to stalk Axe and Charlie on their date, but figured that would inappropriate." Kendall joked shrugging a shoulder. "That and you certainly deserve a proper date, filled with subtle hints as to why Kendall is by far a better name than Axebanger. Starting with the fact that it's an actual name."

She flushed even deeper; she almost got to meet Axebanger and Spinnet too? Merlin's beard, she would've gone into labor that very instant. Maybe it was good then, and she figured that Kendall was the seemingly most relaxed out of the Kestrel flock. He was also the handsomest, she was sure, but she would never say that out loud or mention to Zach because he already was pissy at her about this whole thing. She deserved some fun too, okay? And she was just going to look on at him in awe, and nothing else!

"Kendall's a very nice name," Brianna admitted, playing with her fingernails, "but I'm afraid it's not Irish enough for this Dubliner."

She grinned, sitting up straight and feeling the baby kick; he must feel how fast her heart was racing in excitement. Not only did Kendall bring her flowers and promise a nice evening, but he'd remembered the short journal conversation they'd had. Brianna was often disgusted by those awestruck girls that stood outside the stadium; she had donated to charity, she was allowed to smile like an idiot.

"My sister's Fiona and her kids are ridiculously Irish too---it would be a travesty." Except she was pretty sure Jack was English, but she could ignore that for the sake of her story..

Kendall blinked once at the mention of Fiona. "Fiona O'Hara?" She wasn't someone he would have forgotten after playing with her for four years as she was just a little bit crazy on the pitch. Which he didn't mind much at all, helped him win games. They got along pretty well, and now he felt just a little guilty that he never bothered to keep in touch.

"You're Fiona O'Hara's little sister?" he said perking up in his seat. "We played together at Hogwarts. She has kids now? Huh. I suppose if she's part of the reason you can't use the name Kendall, that is completely understandable."

Whether or not Seth had opted for a lunch date out of relinquished respect Odette did not want to question, and simply took as a blessing. Lunch dates did not have innuendos, lunch dates were in the sunlight, lunch dates did not require a formal dress code. It was just... lunch. In all honesty the thought made her unbelievably less tense, an occurrence that was quite rare these days, what with the playoffs schedule and her childish teammates.

Odette couldn't help but shake her head as she walked through the long tunnel from inside the stadium to its exterior. For a relatively smart group of players, it surprised her that the team still hadn't caught on to why she borderline crazily insisted they do ridiculous things during playoffs. Though, she supposed, it would be better if they just continued to argue and rant at her... She immediately threw her hand up to her eyes once they hit sunlight, blinking for a moment before putting on sunglasses and spotting her visitor.

Lovely.

Taking a deep breath, Odette closed her eyes to collect herself. This wouldn't be... that bad, right? Seth had shown he took his charity seriously, and that fact she would hold on tightly to for dear life to make it through these next two hours.

"So where are you taking me?" she asked promptly after approaching him, pushing her hair behind her shoulder with the back of her hand.

Seth was surprisingly good mood despite the fact that the Falcons just lost to the Magpies. He got a more than one good shot at MacFarlan on the pitch and hat made up for any left over pent up aggression he had. Next year, the Falcons would definitely make it much farther than first round of play offs. In fact, he was more than ready to be completely pleasant during this lunch.

"I was thinking that quaint restaurant you like just around the block." Seth said with a small shrug of his shoulder. He pulled his hand out of his pocket, holding out a single flower to her. He was completely capable of being cordial. W.Q.W. was far to important for him to be making a spectacle of this. "But if you have somewhere else in mind, I'm open to suggestions."

She couldn't help it, a suspicious look appeared on Odette's face when Seth produced a flower from within his coat. At least it wasn't a rose--- but still apart of the flora family nonetheless, and in her experience, that never meant a good thing when it came attached to the extended hand of Seth Wadcock. What did he expect her to do, take it? That would hardly be appropriate. At the same time, she knew he would positively throw a fit if she didn't take it.

Frustrated for a second (just like old times), Odette bit the insides of her mouth before snatching the flower out of his hands to bury it into her bag. She could give it to Terry later, or Anna, she supposed. Shaking her head to let out her hair, Odette continued the shake through her body. "That's fine," she said calmly, choosing to ignore his word choices.

Well. She knew where they were going, no need to waste any time about it. After briefly looking at Seth, Odette began to walk forward toward their destination. "Was the raffle successful?" she asked over her shoulder, finding that walking in silence with Seth had always been more uncomfortable that anything else.

Seth rolled his eyes as the flower was snatched out of his hand. He really honestly didn't mean anything at all by it, just picked it from his garden on his way out of the house. Thought it would be a nice gesture, certainly wasn't like he bought her a bouquet of roses. It was at the very least amusing to know somethings would never change.

He smiled lazily as he started following after her, not really bothering to make the effort to catch up with her. If she wanted to lead the way, he would let her. "Extremely." he said shoving his hands back into his pockets. "Haven't had the chance to sit down with Henry and go over the exact numbers, but from just skimming over everything, it looks like we have enough to supply quite a few camps for the summer. I don't think we'll have to hold another event until the fall, which is nice. I'd much rather spend my time with the kids than in some office orchestrating some party." Which was true. Kids were so much easier than adults. They weren't spending time trying to find hidden meanings behind his words. "I'm still amazed at the number of players that volunteered. I should get something for everyone to thank them, because its certainly not something I could have done on my own." He said shrugging a shoulder.

"Anyways, what about you? You have the Magpies ready to take out those hooligans from Kenmare?" Seth said changing the subject. He didn't want her to think W.Q.W was something that he did so he would have something to brag about. And talking about himself, or the thing he did, to Odette without bragging was just... odd, so he'd much rather avoid the conversation all together if he could. "Who knows you might even pull out back to back championships like United." Seth commented with a surprising lack of bitterness.

Rose was quite content with herself, despite the increasingly annoying nagging feeling forming in the back of her mind. When Thomas had quite bitterly mentioned his imposed diet for playoffs, the dessert restaurant her brother had brought her to once before quickly became the only appropriate place to go for this charity raffle date. How would she know that things like this were normally imposed? Griff had made no indication of changing their routine, only mentioning briefly that practice would be longer and to continue to uphold the traditional Catapult reputation during this time. It seemed rather simple, and she wasn't about to put herself in bad graces with anyone, her captain or her friend.

The restaurant was not wizard run, meaning the wait for their food would be a bit longer than they were use to--- but that created more time to catch up, right? Rose would be lying if she didn't admit she was beginning to feel incredibly guilty for evading Thomas since getting back together with Octavius. It had seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but now it just felt like she was lying to him. He was one of her closest friends, comparable only to Danielle who she had gleefully told weeks ago. Her only hope rested in that in that time, some life developments had happened of his own, therefore making it even between them.

That was horrible, wasn't it? Rose bit the inside of her lip, and hooked her foot tighter into her opposing heel. There would be a right time to bring all that up--- right now, choosing the right meal option was first priority.

"Ohh look, on this crepe you can get raspberry sauce, chocolate, and sprinkles. That's a whole lot of sugar right there," she pressed her lips together in an amused manner, smoothing the menu out on the table. A playful smile formed on Rose's face, and she accompanied this mockery with a couple of knowing nods.

Thomas was quite content with himself, and he smiled honestly back at Rose as she teased him. He had been in quite the chipper mood, and as his eyes scanned the menu all he could think about was how much he really did enjoy chocolate these days and it had nothing to do with irritating his captain. In fact, Odette was getting more hours of training out of him because of current state. He disagreed with her trying to change his season-long habits, but he was putting in the extra effort to prove to her that he would be just as productive with a sweet tooth.

Because if he wanted to keep seeing Samantha, he would have to take her to dinner, and dinner meant dessert, and dessert meant keeping in shape and---it all made sense to him, anyway.

Rose seemed pretty happy these days, too. He wasn't sure if it was from the lack of drama she'd been involved in, or maybe the concussion she suffered knocked some neurosis out of her, but. She definitely looked in better spirits and he was glad for it. Thomas had put his ticket into her bin for support, not expecting to win anything, but. He felt strange at first about it, but his good time with Sam counteracted all that.

"Let's get it all, then," he said, shutting his menu, "With extra sauce and double sprinkles."

Her jaw dropped in mock surprise. All of it? All the toppings! Nodding again, she closed her menu. It was looking like she was going to have to do a bit of extra exercising after this meal. Completely worth it, of course, because anything that was that sweet was worth the physical price you had to pay for it. Chocolate really was worth it.

"Good choice," Rose agreed, and signaled to their waiter to order before either of them changed their minds. "So," Rose started, placing her arms on the table and leaning back in her seat. Baby steps? To catching up, that is. That seemed appropriate.

Maybe he wouldn't even be that upset! She could be overreacting, that tended to happen with Thomas of all more than others. He had his own life of things to do, things to focus on. The more she thought about it, the more that made sense. She scolded herself for thinking so selfishly. There was nothing to worry about! No matter how annoying it was that she seemed to become so anxious about this only in his presence.

"What else is new?" she asked innocently.

She’d opened the conversation up wide with that simple question. Thomas wanted to blab, blurt, and babble what had been going on in his life and was so glad for that prompt. He felt like a third year telling his best friend a super secret. Rose was his best friend. She’d been by his side since the Sorting, and while she definitely could not relate to the things Kendall could, Thomas felt more comfortable with her than anyone. The feelings that had stirred up for her after the big ruckus with Spinnet had been shoved deep down; he could not bear to lose her as a friend over what might just be a fleeting fit of jealousy. They’d reverted back to what they knew, anyway, so there was no reason to not be excited about this development in his life.

“I’ve met someone,” he said, dropping back in the seat as if he’d lifted an elephant off his shoulders. Thomas was grinning from ear to ear, “I haven’t felt like this in years, I’m---” he put his hands up, trying to grasp for the words. His hands motioned to try to find the word. He was at a loss for words. Thomas blurted, “I’m excited! Is that weird? Is it weird that I say I’m excited because of a girl? Her name’s Samantha.”

Thomas nodded quickly a few times, “Cadwallader. She’s Canadian.”

She had not been expecting that! She had not been expecting that at all! When she had asked what was new, there had been the dull expectation of an update about his cat, or something particularly annoying that someone had said or did to him aside from this playoffs captain food regiment thing and--- yes, she had been hoping that something like this exactly would have happened but that had only been for her own selfish gain! This was legitimate news! Why had he waited to tell her!

Rose immediately bit the inside of her cheek, knowing how undeniably hypocritical that last thought had been. She only had herself to blame concerning that, and therefore had no right to be anything but thrilled at what was obviously a very exciting development in his life. Luckily, Thomas appeared to be so wrapped up in his words he hadn't yet noticed her only response so far to his news had been breathing in air, and blinking. So, with that encouragement, Rose pushed down the striking bother growing in her stomach, in which she only assumed to be anxiety from still needing to tell her own news, and smiled.

"Really? That's great!" she clapped, also tilting her head as she spoke. "It's not weird! It's normal!" She smiled wider, genuinely surprised and pleased to see Thomas so... so... like he had been pre-Regina. That was a good sign, wasn't it? It was an understatement to say that everything that had happened between them had led to a rather eventful year for him... with that though, Rose became overwhelmed with the desire to find out more about this Samantha. Or really, just to make sure she wasn't another Regina.

"Is she related to Victoria?" Rose asked, finding it nearly impossible for them not to be with the last name of Cadwallader and lack of Britishness something they both shared. She leaned in back toward the table, knocking her foot up under her legs to sit higher in her seat. "Tell me about her!"

"Yes, of course, she's her older sister and she's a curse breaker for Gringotts---how cool is that?" Thomas looked impressed, yet again, even though he'd known about her occupation since even before he'd met her, Victoria was always talking about her family. "A curse breaker! She's very smart and---she's just..." Thomas put his hands up, shoulders going high, "I'm just struck by her I suppose."

Struck by her. That was the word. Thomas had a quick, faint reminder of being shot with a love-potion dipped arrow at the Halloween party, but it was nothing like this. Maybe it was because it was new, but he felt his blood pump faster just at the anticipation of seeing her and talking about her and---bloody hell, he really hoped this feeling didn't wear off as time went by because it felt ruddy good.

Thomas put his hands over his face, flushing and getting hot. He felt like such a fool, but really! Really, humans were supposed to have these sorts of feelings to keep them alive and motivated, so he shouldn't be thinking that he was acting strange because it was natural, wasn't it? Why was he analyzing this? His normally very logical brain was having a hard time understanding everything that was going on and it was even harder to accept this because was---different and----new and----

He dropped his hands, "I feel ridiculous, please--talk about yourself for a moment or two or three."

It was... heartening to see her friend this happy. Happy! When was the last time that happy and Thomas McCormack could be put together in the same thought without irony? It was good that this Samantha appeared to be pulling him back to normal. In fact, Rose found herself just staring at Thomas as he continued on, struck herself at how different his tone had changed at just the mention of her.

Why couldn't they talk about her more? There was no need to rush! She knew he was just being polite, but...

Rose faltered slightly, then gave a light laugh, wondering how exactly to word her response. Maybe she really was over-thinking this, it honestly wasn't that big of a deal. Octavius was wonderful to her, he always had been, and that wasn't what worried her about Thomas' potential response. Octavius' close relations to one Charlie Spinnet, in addition to her obvious withholding of information for as long as she had was what made her think this might not go over well.

Perhaps Thomas wouldn't even remember that Octavius was close with Charlie! Maybe he wouldn't even remember Octavius! It had been a while, and things had been different, then and... it hadn't been that long, really. Just a little over a month that they had been dating. That really wasn't that bad.

"Well, actually," Rose started, her leg falling as her hands moved from the table to her lap. "I have--- I am seeing someone, too. Do you remember Octavius Pepper?" She felt her cheeks begin to feel hot as she spoke, and she let out small laugh. "We ran into each other at this new year's party and stared talking, and.... yes. Yes."

"Well...look at us."

Thomas smiled at Rose, not having expected her news, but not entirely surprised by it. Their quidditch schedules had them busy, but it was only when there were others involved that they tended to drift away. He should have realized it, but he himself had been so wrapped up in Samantha that he hadn't noticed the lack of communication between he and Rose.

Octavius Pepper...Thomas remembered not particularly hating him when he and Rose were dating the first time. He did recall that Pepper was the best friend of the prat named Spinnet, but it wasn't the same thing as Rose actually messing around with the Kestrel. Pepper was...intelligent, a bit spastic (but so was Rose so maybe this was a match), and he was not a quidditch player which was always a good sign. As he mentally checked off a list of what made an appropriate boyfriend for Rose, he came to the conclusion that Pepper passed with at least a 72%. That was much better than she'd done in ages.

It was sort of a sad feeling, though, even if Pepper was a good bloke. Thomas' feelings for Rose had always been strange, and as much as Kendall liked to say that he was blind, he knew that Rose's feelings towards him weren't completely---well, at least Thomas thought so. It was sad that once again they found themselves going in different directions when they never had the chance to actually do anything themselves.

"We could double date," he said with a nod and another smile, folding his menu shut.
