Halloween Haunted Castle Event! Open to Everyone!
While she wasn't particularly keen on parties, she was set on saving wildlife. Everyone else seemed to rake in the galleons by throwing large events, no matter the scandals that erupted from them, so why couldn't they? Nora had conservatory's committee for quite some time now, and being the youngest by a good forty years, had devised this plan as a new and fresh way of funding. It helped greatly that she had friends that had access to some of the best party planners (or that she could twist Charlie Spinnet's ear until he helped her out), and things seemed to have turned out well. So far.

For the brave at heart, there was a grand maze that made its way throughout the haunted castle. Guests would be offered clues to get themselves to the ballroom, and if they were truly lost (as Nora was sure was to occur), for just a small donation (it's for charity), any money dropped into a clue box would light up a blue path down the correct route to lead the way out. With all the Gryffindors that Nora had put on the guest list, she was sure they were going to triple their goal.

There was a simpler route than the maze, which was simply to walk through the double doors to the dance floor. Nora was currently wavering between the two, having run out of pamphlets to give out at the front entrance therefore giving her no excuse to join the festivities. She felt rather exposed, as Delilah had stolen her cloak, and when someone tapped her shoulder she jumped nearly a foot in the air.

"Bloody hell!" she let out, spinning around. "You scared the life out of me!"

Seth grinned at the mention of Wendy. Larkin was deflecting, using his relationships was always a favorite tactic of hers. "Sadly, I don't believe I can compete with the Librarian," he freely admitted with a shrug of his shoulder. "I've moved onto trying for the pretty new WWN witch, but that neither here nor there."

He leaned against a tree watching Larkin as she studied the fork in the road. He could care less whether or not she won this race she had going on with her fellow cursebreaker. In fact he quite liked that he found her here alone in the maze. Made cornering her much easier.

"No no, I was much more interested in whom you have recently given out privileges too. Oh and then the fact that you fled the country immediately afterwards with another man. I find these all to be interesting topics of discussion." Seth studied his nails idly while he spoke, not looking up to his former housemate until after he was finished.

"Do you have feelings for Nico? Is that why you ran off with him?"

She couldn't control herself; Larkin immediately burst into laughter at Seth's dramatic inquiry. That was his big pull? That she had feelings for Nico? And had run away with him? Galloping gargoyles, what a story Seth had created for himself there. The fact that only one tiny insignificant part of it was remotely true was irrelevant. He thought she had feelings for Nico.

Choosing to address this instead of the other topic Seth was quickly circling, Larkin turned fully to face Seth. Leaning back on the hedges, she pressed her behind her as support and balanced her weight on her heels.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Larkin responded in a flippant way, shrugging her shoulders as she spoke. "Penrose and I went to Brazil on a job. Cursebreaking only works when you're away on site."

The fact that the timing had been all wrong was also irrelevant. They had journeyed across the pond a bit earlier than scheduled, but that had only been because... because. Things. Had happened. Unexpected things. Events that apparently had been shared, because if Seth Wadcock knew about it, Merlin knew who else Lynch had spilled to. She knew she should have responded to one of his letters.

"Though I am going to tell him you think we're passionately in love. He'll get a right stitch out of that." Larkin snickered this time, her hair falling over her shoulders as she laughed.

"Right, well---" she began again, taking opportunity of a split second of down time before Seth could speak again. "Anything else, then? No? Alright." And without much else time for a response, she quickly plowed toward the left fork, marching (hopefully) with purpose busy enough to shake Seth Wadcock from his mission.

Seth hummed as he followed at a much lazier pace. Larkin could stomp off all she wanted, but that wasn't going to make him forget what he wanted to talk about. He caught up with her at the next obstacle and leaned against a tree offering no help what so ever.

"I suppose that's fair, though I can't say that I wasn't hoping. I mean, why else would you sleep with Michal as soon as he wakes from a coma and then run off without a word for weeks. Surely it couldn't have been just for work." Seth said casually. He heaved a heavy sigh as he pushed off the tree. "Disappointing, really. Michal can be a prick, but don't really think he deserved that."

He examined the bubbling pool of mud before them and decided he didn't really want to deal with that. "Well," Seth clapped his hands together. "I don't think this is the way, I'm going to go back. I'll leave you to your race. I'm sure it is just as important as your work."

If there had been anything in her hands, she would have snapped it in half. "Excuse me!" Larkin squawked indignantly. She, again, stopped dead in her tracks, and twirled to face Seth with an entirely rigid spine. Where in the world did he get off talking to her like that?

Larkin moved to grab the front of his robes (with the intent of shaking Seth silly), but then realized there wasn't anything to grab except for his bare chest. So instead she let out a frustrated noise, and threw her hands up into the air.

"I did not--" Well that wasn't exactly true. "I don't know what---" That wasn't true either. Larkin's face contorted as she jammed her hands onto her hips, now having completely forgotten about everything else besides Seth Wadcock and his offensive manner of speech. "It just--- happened!" she let out exasperated, the truth finally slipping out.

Which! Had been true! Was true. In the heat of the moment, it had just... well... it was difficult to explain! It was complicated. She didn't know why she had... well maybe she did a little, sometimes she just initiated things without thinking--- she shook her head.

"And he hadn't just woken up, he'd been---" Larkin stopped herself, and looked at Seth incredulously. What in the---

"-- I am not talking to you of all people about this!" She waved her hands in a shooing manner at him, but it was to no real effect. As Seth retreated back, Larkin had now taken to trailing behind him, spewing as she went.

"I am a cursebreaker Wadcock! Unlike other select occupations that include just flying about for no real purpose, I have to go places, places that are far away, and then stay there until the job is done. I can't just flit about wherever I like, and you---" Larkin pointed her finger at Seth now, a flustered and aggravated frown on her face. "I should have left you in Turkish prison!"

Seth had to admit that he was pleased to hear Larkin following after him stuttering out her excuses and tripping over her words as she confirmed that he was right on so many counts. It wasn't until she started attacking him that he stopped an turned, a line being crossed.

"Me of all people," he repeated incredulously. "You're not talking to me of all people about this. And what the hell is that suppose to mean." He spat, his temper at the whole situation reaching a tipping point. Did their friendship mean nothing. Obviously not as she went on to degrade his profession on top of everything else.

"Oh excuse me, I was unaware retrieving gold was such a noble life changing pursuit. Does your high and mighty profession prevent you from writing letters? Do you use all of your good judgement in your work that you have none left to apply to your personal life?" Seth seethed unable to hold back. It wasn't as if Larkin didn't know. She had to know that Michal had been practically in love with her since their days at Hogwarts.

"He loves you, Larkin. He has for years and you go and do this? Does he even know you're back in the country?" He shook his head so disappointed in everything. "Maybe you should have left me in the Turkish Prison. Then again, maybe Michal should have left you in Jordan." He bit out the words before he could stop himself. After everything Michal had done for the witch standing in front of him, and this is what he gets in repayment.

"Yes you of all people!" she snapped, her hands retracting to her sides. Not wanting to ball them into fists, Larkin quickly crossed her arms over her shoulders. What exactly was Seth thinking? Had he forgotten their numerous broom closet rendezvous all those years ago?

"It means I'm not sure I feel like talking about my most recent sexcapade with a former one!" Her face had turned hot, not out of embarrassment, but out of anger. It really wasn't--- everything she uttered, every move she made here, it would make it back to Michal, wouldn't it?

"And of course you're bloody best friends, not like that makes anything awkward at all!" Best bloody mates, practically attached at the hip for how many years now? A cool wind rustled up behind her, and Larkin then remembered where she was; in some halloween-themed maze with who knew what lurking at every corner and here she was, being forced to talk about something she had properly avoided for many months. What had she been thinking coming home? Acting as if nothing had happened?

Larkin dug her face into her hands as Seth revved up, seething on and on about her poor judgement and mistakes. She found it quite absurd that Seth though Michal was capable of loving anything that lived and breathed, and frankly hypocritical that he thought he had the right to be nosing his way into a delicate extraction situation. Apparently it hadn't occurred to Seth Wadcock that perhaps Larkin was ignoring Michal in an effort to not give him false hope, to at least help in the smallest of ways to-- Seth's final words shot Larkin out of her own thoughts, and quickly she jumped to react.

"He should have!" Larkin let out suddenly, her hands falling from her face to look at Seth fiercely. "He had no right doing what he did! I was perfectly happy in Jordan, certainly didn't need him mucking everything up with his ridiculous feelings for m---" She caught herself, eyes widening slightly. No, she couldn't admit to Seth that she recognized Michal's affection for her, that would tear apart so much more that had already been torn---

Pulling out her wand, Larkin sprung to close the distance between the two of them. "Don't you mention a word of me to him, Seth." She pressed her wand dangerously close enough in a way that could very well be perceived as a threatening matter. "It's better if he doesn't, to help him get over.... do you understand me!"
