There was nothing about the healing process that was easy for Murphy. The first few days at his parents house had been good. Cramped in a bed with Seth and sometimes Vegas and Mika too. Enough support that he felt like maybe it was going to be all right. And then he and Seth went back to Seth's new apartment. Seth started drinking again and Murphy spent most of his afternoons alone, thinking about the other boys and thinking about Adam. Some afternoons he thought about calling the other boys but he hadn't worked up the courage to talk to any of them. He knew they were better off without him. Part of him had thought things were looking up but that was until the first time he and Seth had sex after he got home and things had rapidly deteriorated from there. Murphy had stopped calling Vegas and his parents, only talking to them when they called him instead and that was only sometimes. Sometimes he let his phone go straight to voicemail because it was just easier not having to hear their questions. Some nights he wouldn't even look at Seth when he got home. He could still smell the booze on him more often than not and on those nights Murphy just closed his eyes and he'd pretend he could hear the scratching of Parker's pen against his paper or the melancholy music of Elijah's violin. When he was really desperate he'd think of the shutter clicks of Shay taking pictures of them. He hadn't ever really had the chance to bond with him, not the way he had with Elijah and certainly not with Parker. One morning after he'd been home for a few weeks, Murphy woke and felt particularly alone and hopeless. Seth was at work and he was sure that his parents and Vegas would be the same. He'd thought long and hard about returning to work but he had freak outs regularly enough still that he knew it wasn't an option. So he got up and showered and got dressed and grabbed his messenger bag from the desk. With his inhaler, his cell phone and his iPod tucked away in various pockets, he headed down to the train station. A ticket to quantico cost sixteen dollars and he didn't buy a return ticket mostly because he didn't know what time he'd be ready to head back. For most of the ride he listened to his headphones, just trying to block out all of his thoughts with music. By the time he got there it was early afternoon and he had to take a cab from the train station to fbi headquarters. Honestly, he wasn't sure what he thought this little trip was going to do for him, but he knew that he wanted to see the agents that had been responsible for saving his life. He wanted to tell them thank you because he hadn't ever gotten the chance. It was one door he intended to close, the easiest of all of them he supposed. In the lobby they put him through the metal detectors and then he asked specifically for the BAU. The woman told him to wait and that she'd have someone come down to meet him. They weren't just going to let anyone run around in the offices unattended.

It was Mick who'd gotten the call, and though she wasn't sure who to be expecting, she headed right on down. When she saw Murphy, she knew that he was definitely the one waiting. She'd recognize his face anywhere, and to her, though he and Vegas were twins she could see differences. Maybe because she'd spent so much time studying the boy's life before she found him.

"Murphy," she greeted as she headed over and held out a hand. "I'm Agent James, you can call me Mick, though. What can I do for you?"

Murphy had moved to the edge of the lobby, standing near the wall where he wasn't in anyone's way. He toyed with the edge of his messenger bag, his fingers running over the frayed edges as he tried to distract himself while he waited. He was looking around, just looking hopelessly lost as he stood there waiting for someone to come and get him. He felt lost. When he heard his name he looked up and over at Mick, remembering her just barely from the night that they had come to find them all. It took him a second to get his body moving but he took her hand, giving it a tentative shake.

"I'm not really sure." He admitted, never one who was very good at lying. "I just woke up this morning and knew if I stayed in the apartment that I was going to turn into a mess and I thought maybe I'd come down here and say thank you to everyone. Just, spend a little time out of the apartment and meet all the people who were responsible for bringing me back home."

It was easy to see that Murphy was feeling anxious. It was a long recovery process, to get back to your old life after being taken away and held captive for so long. Mick wasn't even entirely sure that Parker, Murphy, Elijah, or Shay would ever be quite the way they were. Reagan, too. But especially the ones who'd been Adam's captives for the longest.

"Sounds like you have a bit of cabin fever," she said as she let go of his hand and motioned him over to the desk so that she could sign him in and get him a visitor's badge. "It's nice of you to come say hello, we've al been wondering how you and the others were doing."

"I haven't really gotten the chance to talk to anyone else." He had had the chance, though he just hadn't taken it because he hadn't wanted to bring up bad memories for the others or anything like that. Sure, they had all traded phone numbers, but he hadn't given anyone his and he doubted very much that they really even wanted him to call. "I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. And then I can be out of your hair."

"Murphy," Mick said as she turned to clip a visitor's badge to the collar of his shirt. "You didn't come all this way just to say thank you. Maybe you want to ask questions about Adam, maybe you just want to talk to people who don't know you, maybe you don't even know what you want just yet. You've been through a lot, and you're not going to be able to just pretend that nothing ever happened. Would you like to go upstairs and talk, or go grab something to eat and talk, just me and you?"

Murphy wasn't even sure what to say to her about that. He bit his bottom lip and just looked down as she clipped the name badge onto his collar. He'd eaten a little bit on the train here but just a few chips and a few sips of a soda. Really, his appetite was shit and he didn't think that putting anything in his stomach at the moment would make him feel any better.

"I think that if I eat something I am just going to feel sick but I could use a glass of water." he said softly, biting at his bottom lip again. He'd bitten it so often that it was swollen and a little raw, red on the inside where there wasn't anymore skin. Really, he did want to talk to her about Adam. About if they were going to find him and what would happen to him if he did get caught.

"Come on upstairs, I'll get you a bottle of water from the breakroom fridge," Mick said as she led the way and waved him over towards security.

She went through the metal detector first, and once Murphy had made it through she led the way over towards the elevator. Once they were inside, she hit the floor for the BAU and leaned against the wall.

"Adam Banks seems to have disappeared off of the grid, he probably had money stashed away and a back up place just in case he was found out. We don't know where he is, but chances are he's probably doing his best to keep some sort of an eye on you and the others," she said after a moment.

"Oh." Murphy wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Honestly, part of him just wanted to run outside and look around, to see if he could find Adam and maybe talk to him. "What's going to happen to him?" he asked, his hands tucking into the pockets of his hoodie. The hoodie was really too big for hi, bigger than it should have been. "If he gets caught, I mean. What will happen to him?" He went back to chewing on his bottom lip, just keeping his attention on it as he looked down at the floor of the elevator.

"Well," Mick said as she lifted a hand to rub at her lower lip in thought while the elevator took them up. "He hasn't committed murder, but kidnapping is a federal offense. And rape, and there was the attemtped kidnapping of another boy," she said quietly. "He'll get sentenced and go to prison, probably for a very long time, if not life."

Murphy went quiet thinking about what would happen to Adam in prison. He didn't seem like the type of person that could easily go to jail and handle that sort of thing.

"He'll die in prison." Murphy said softly, genuinely concerned for Adam's well being, which said a lot about the way he felt about him. Of course, he was the type of person who cared about everyone he got to know, one way or another. "He's sick. He's a very sick person, he just needs help."

"Murphy," Mick said softly as the elevator opened up and she stepped out onto the floor. She waited for him before she continued, "I know that you are a very empathetic person." Vegas had told her as much. "But what he did was wrong, sick or not, he needs to be somewhere where he can't take people away from their lives and their families. Don't worry, if we find him, he'll have a lawyer who will do a psych eval for him, I'm sure. And I'm sure his lawyer will do what he can to help him if he's sick."

"I'm not saying just let him go free but... he can't go to prison, he'll never make it in there." And he couldn't imagine what would happen to him if he went. What the other prisoners would do to him. "He's like two different people and he's... he's so delusional." Mostly delusional. Thinking that he was in love with the boys and that they loved him back. But really, in some ways, Murphy did love him. as fucked up as it sounded. "He needs to be somewhere where they can medicate him or he can talk to someone... prison is just going to make it worse or kill him."

"Murphy," Mick said again, this time reaching out to gently take the boy by the shoulders. She had to lean down a little so that she could meet his eyes, and a soft sigh escaped her. "It's not your job to do this. It's not your job to make sure that he's okay. The legal system is in place for a reason, and if he is deemed incompetent, or psychology unbalanced, then they will deal with him in a different way. All right? He'll get a fair trial."

"What if he doesn't?" Murphy looked up at her, his eyes a little wide. He was scared, and he didn't even know why. Twisting his fingers into the sleeves of his hoodie he kept his eyes on hers. "Can I testify in court? On his behalf?" Because Murphy knew that the other boys would testify against him. That they would say he was violent and horrible. But Murphy could see the truth. He had talked to Adam enough, knew enough about his history to know why he was the way he was. That most people wouldn't turn out that way but he had and it wasn't entirely his fault.

"I don't know, that would be up to his attorney," Mick said softly. She lifted a hand to smooth it over Murphy's hair as a quiet sigh escaped her. "Come on, lets get you some water."

It worried her just how obviously attached Murphy had gotten to Adam, and she really felt that the boy should see someone. A therapist, or something. Anything.

"Have you considered talking to someone about everything?" she asked as they slipped into the break room and she got a bottle of water out of fridge for him. "A professional, I mean?"

"Yeah. I don't know." Murphy walked with her and he took the bottle of water when she handed it to him. Twisting the cap off, he just twisted it right back on, on and off a few times until he sighed. "I don't know what to think about all of it. I feel a lot of things that I know I shouldn't feel and I just... how do you tell someone that sort of thing? And if I do, how is anyone supposed to understand? How can therapy even work, people are so individual and unique." He shook his head a little bit and then he took a sip of the water. It was hard not to pull away from her when she touched him, but he didn't. He'd long since trained himself to stand perfectly still in such moments.

For some reason, there was a lot about Murphy that reminded her of Iggy, and that made her feel strangely protective of the boy. She leaned against the counter as she listened to him.

"There's nothing saying you should or shouldn't feel a certain way, you feel how you feel. And therapy is good for us because we are all so different and unique," she told him honestly. "Therapists don't judge, you know. I know a good one I can put you in contact with, if you wanted."

"Yeah?" Licking over his lips, he took another drink and then wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand. "Maybe. I really don't have the money for it. I haven't even gone back to work yet and my mom lost her job while I was gone so she and my dad are kind of working out a lot of their own financial difficulties. And I mean, I'm living with my boyfriend and he's paying for stuff right now but he can't forever, so I can't really pay to go to the therapist. And I don't think I have insurance anymore, I don't really know."

"I'm sure he'll work something out with you," Mick said as she ruffled a hand through her hair. "Do you want me to give him a call for you? I can have him get a hold of you. Given all that you've been through, and the fact that he's not exactly hurting on money, I'm sure he'd want to help you and do what he can."

Murphy just nodded. "Do you think that he'd be able to do sessions over the phone? Because I am about six hours away from here. I had to take the train to get here and I can't afford to do it all the time." He couldn't even really afford to do it this once but his mother had given him some money in case he had an emergency and maybe this was an emergency. "i didn't tell anyone that I was coming here today."

"He can probably arrange that," Mick said with a nod of her head. "Sometimes it feels good to just do something without having to explain it to anyone." It was part of being free, which Murphy hadn't been for a very long time.

Murphy nodded a little bit and he twisted the cap of his water bottle back on. There were other BAU agents out and about and he could feel them looking at him. He glanced over in their direction and then back at Mick. "I have a cell phone. It is one of those prepaid things. With the minutes and the cards. But I can get calls on it and texts and stuff. If you wanted to give him my number." He wasn't sure how well it would work with needing to do long calls over a long distance. "I am going to get a new phone when I get back to work."

"Here," Mick said as she pulled a small notepad out of her pocket along with a pen so that she could hand it over to him. "Write the number down, that way I can give it to him." Once he was finished and handed the notepad back, she tucked it away, and the pen as well. "Would you like to talk to some of the other agents?"

"Yeah, I would, I think." He nodded. "There was the guy who gave me the peppers." That was someone that he wanted to talk to if he had the chance to. "I would like to talk to him. He probably saved my life. My inhalers were all empty and I was about to have an attack." So he wanted to talk to him, ask him where he learned about the asthma and stuff like that. Murphy just wanted to meet the agents, wanted to talk to them.

"Wyatt, he is a plethora of knowledge," Mick said with a half grin as she pushed away from the counter and led the way. "He might be out to lunch with his crush, another agent, the one with the really crazy blue eyes. Dark hair. Agent Bishop," she said. "But they'll be back pretty soon, Wyatt is very punctual."
