There was nothing about the healing process that was easy for Murphy. The first few days at his parents house had been good. Cramped in a bed with Seth and sometimes Vegas and Mika too. Enough support that he felt like maybe it was going to be all right. And then he and Seth went back to Seth's new apartment. Seth started drinking again and Murphy spent most of his afternoons alone, thinking about the other boys and thinking about Adam. Some afternoons he thought about calling the other boys but he hadn't worked up the courage to talk to any of them. He knew they were better off without him. Part of him had thought things were looking up but that was until the first time he and Seth had sex after he got home and things had rapidly deteriorated from there. Murphy had stopped calling Vegas and his parents, only talking to them when they called him instead and that was only sometimes. Sometimes he let his phone go straight to voicemail because it was just easier not having to hear their questions. Some nights he wouldn't even look at Seth when he got home. He could still smell the booze on him more often than not and on those nights Murphy just closed his eyes and he'd pretend he could hear the scratching of Parker's pen against his paper or the melancholy music of Elijah's violin. When he was really desperate he'd think of the shutter clicks of Shay taking pictures of them. He hadn't ever really had the chance to bond with him, not the way he had with Elijah and certainly not with Parker. One morning after he'd been home for a few weeks, Murphy woke and felt particularly alone and hopeless. Seth was at work and he was sure that his parents and Vegas would be the same. He'd thought long and hard about returning to work but he had freak outs regularly enough still that he knew it wasn't an option. So he got up and showered and got dressed and grabbed his messenger bag from the desk. With his inhaler, his cell phone and his iPod tucked away in various pockets, he headed down to the train station. A ticket to quantico cost sixteen dollars and he didn't buy a return ticket mostly because he didn't know what time he'd be ready to head back. For most of the ride he listened to his headphones, just trying to block out all of his thoughts with music. By the time he got there it was early afternoon and he had to take a cab from the train station to fbi headquarters. Honestly, he wasn't sure what he thought this little trip was going to do for him, but he knew that he wanted to see the agents that had been responsible for saving his life. He wanted to tell them thank you because he hadn't ever gotten the chance. It was one door he intended to close, the easiest of all of them he supposed. In the lobby they put him through the metal detectors and then he asked specifically for the BAU. The woman told him to wait and that she'd have someone come down to meet him. They weren't just going to let anyone run around in the offices unattended.

"Murphy," Mick said again, this time reaching out to gently take the boy by the shoulders. She had to lean down a little so that she could meet his eyes, and a soft sigh escaped her. "It's not your job to do this. It's not your job to make sure that he's okay. The legal system is in place for a reason, and if he is deemed incompetent, or psychology unbalanced, then they will deal with him in a different way. All right? He'll get a fair trial."

"What if he doesn't?" Murphy looked up at her, his eyes a little wide. He was scared, and he didn't even know why. Twisting his fingers into the sleeves of his hoodie he kept his eyes on hers. "Can I testify in court? On his behalf?" Because Murphy knew that the other boys would testify against him. That they would say he was violent and horrible. But Murphy could see the truth. He had talked to Adam enough, knew enough about his history to know why he was the way he was. That most people wouldn't turn out that way but he had and it wasn't entirely his fault.

"I don't know, that would be up to his attorney," Mick said softly. She lifted a hand to smooth it over Murphy's hair as a quiet sigh escaped her. "Come on, lets get you some water."

It worried her just how obviously attached Murphy had gotten to Adam, and she really felt that the boy should see someone. A therapist, or something. Anything.

"Have you considered talking to someone about everything?" she asked as they slipped into the break room and she got a bottle of water out of fridge for him. "A professional, I mean?"

"Yeah. I don't know." Murphy walked with her and he took the bottle of water when she handed it to him. Twisting the cap off, he just twisted it right back on, on and off a few times until he sighed. "I don't know what to think about all of it. I feel a lot of things that I know I shouldn't feel and I just... how do you tell someone that sort of thing? And if I do, how is anyone supposed to understand? How can therapy even work, people are so individual and unique." He shook his head a little bit and then he took a sip of the water. It was hard not to pull away from her when she touched him, but he didn't. He'd long since trained himself to stand perfectly still in such moments.

For some reason, there was a lot about Murphy that reminded her of Iggy, and that made her feel strangely protective of the boy. She leaned against the counter as she listened to him.

"There's nothing saying you should or shouldn't feel a certain way, you feel how you feel. And therapy is good for us because we are all so different and unique," she told him honestly. "Therapists don't judge, you know. I know a good one I can put you in contact with, if you wanted."

"Yeah?" Licking over his lips, he took another drink and then wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand. "Maybe. I really don't have the money for it. I haven't even gone back to work yet and my mom lost her job while I was gone so she and my dad are kind of working out a lot of their own financial difficulties. And I mean, I'm living with my boyfriend and he's paying for stuff right now but he can't forever, so I can't really pay to go to the therapist. And I don't think I have insurance anymore, I don't really know."

"I'm sure he'll work something out with you," Mick said as she ruffled a hand through her hair. "Do you want me to give him a call for you? I can have him get a hold of you. Given all that you've been through, and the fact that he's not exactly hurting on money, I'm sure he'd want to help you and do what he can."

Murphy just nodded. "Do you think that he'd be able to do sessions over the phone? Because I am about six hours away from here. I had to take the train to get here and I can't afford to do it all the time." He couldn't even really afford to do it this once but his mother had given him some money in case he had an emergency and maybe this was an emergency. "i didn't tell anyone that I was coming here today."

"He can probably arrange that," Mick said with a nod of her head. "Sometimes it feels good to just do something without having to explain it to anyone." It was part of being free, which Murphy hadn't been for a very long time.

Murphy nodded a little bit and he twisted the cap of his water bottle back on. There were other BAU agents out and about and he could feel them looking at him. He glanced over in their direction and then back at Mick. "I have a cell phone. It is one of those prepaid things. With the minutes and the cards. But I can get calls on it and texts and stuff. If you wanted to give him my number." He wasn't sure how well it would work with needing to do long calls over a long distance. "I am going to get a new phone when I get back to work."

"Here," Mick said as she pulled a small notepad out of her pocket along with a pen so that she could hand it over to him. "Write the number down, that way I can give it to him." Once he was finished and handed the notepad back, she tucked it away, and the pen as well. "Would you like to talk to some of the other agents?"

"Yeah, I would, I think." He nodded. "There was the guy who gave me the peppers." That was someone that he wanted to talk to if he had the chance to. "I would like to talk to him. He probably saved my life. My inhalers were all empty and I was about to have an attack." So he wanted to talk to him, ask him where he learned about the asthma and stuff like that. Murphy just wanted to meet the agents, wanted to talk to them.

"Wyatt, he is a plethora of knowledge," Mick said with a half grin as she pushed away from the counter and led the way. "He might be out to lunch with his crush, another agent, the one with the really crazy blue eyes. Dark hair. Agent Bishop," she said. "But they'll be back pretty soon, Wyatt is very punctual."

Murphy walked along with her, feeling sort of nervous and fluttery over all of this. "Have any of the other boys called or come here to see you?" Because he missed them, he really did. "I haven't talked to any of them but i have their phone numbers." he didn't think he was going to end up calling any of them because he was pretty sure that he was the only one who still felt so connected and who still needed to be here around these people and around the memories.

"Elijah called for himself and Shay, Parker called too, they wanted to know if we had a number for you. That was yesterday, we gave them your parent's number, they may have called there," Mick said as she glanced over her shoulder at him. "Reagan asks about all of you."

That made him frown a little bit and he rubbed the back of his neck. He had told them he would call them but he hadn't gotten there yet. It was just going to be a little while before he felt like he could, before he felt right enough for it, maybe. Or maybe he'd never call, he didn't know. Seeing the BAU agents was safe, they weren't going to be traumatized by his presence.

Sensing Murphy's apprehension, Mick stopped and reached out to put a gentle hand to his shoulder. "They miss you," she assured him, giving his shoulder a squeeze. "They'd really like to know how you are doing," she added before she let go and turned to lead him down to where Emma was sitting. "This is Agent Parker," she said with a wave.

When Emma saw Murphy, she got to her feet and smiled warmly as she held out her hand to him. "Hello, Murphy, it's good to see you."

How he was doing was miserable but he wasn't going to tell her that. Maybe the shrink she set him up with but he really didn't want to make her feel obligated beyond him today. When he got to Emma he took her hand and gave it a shake. He didn't really remember her at all from the night, but he mostly only remember Wyatt for the peppers, Chancellor for picking the locks, and Liam because of the way he'd clung to Reagan.

When Murphy didn't answer, she withdrew her hand and Mick stepped back in to ease the awkward silence.

"He just wanted to come say hello to all of us and thank us," she said, and Emma nodded.

"That's very sweet," Emma said with a soft smile as she let go of Murphy's hand. "It's very good to see you." Especially outside of a cage.

Murphy had totally blanked it and he nodded. "Thanks, thanks. It's good to see you too. I just wanted to say thank you." He felt sort of like an idiot but he'd just lost track of other things in his mind and now he was trying to make up for it. "For all the hardwork and for finding us, thank you."

When Wyatt got back from lunch, he was surprised to see Murphy there with Mick and Emma. He paused, hesitating to move forward because he was busy calculating the statistics for something like this. "Captives very rarely come back on their own accord, even to the law enforcement agency that found them. Did we ask him back? Was Agent Montgomery able to get them to reopen the case?" He looked at Micah, concerned. Healthy, happy people moved on as quickly as they could. This might mean that Murphy wasn't one of those people.

Heading right in their direction, a curious, determined set to his jaw, Wyatt was intent on finding out exactly what was going on. "Hello," he said, eyes scrutinizing Murphy's behavior.

"I don't think so, no," Micah said quietly as he shed his coat and draped it over the back of his chair before he followed after Wyatt.

When Mick saw them approaching, she smiled and lifted a hand in their direction.

"Murphy, here's Agent Bishop and Agent Winston, the pepper kid," she said as she nodded at them. "Murphy wanted to stop in and say thank you."

Murphy turned his attention to Wyatt and Micah and he smiled a little bit. It was good to see Wyatt, though he wasn't sure what to even say to him . Honestly he hadn't thought this through very well. Instead he just kept his hands in his pockets and waited until they were right on them. He had shaken hands with Emma and Mick but he wasn't offering. He would shake hands if they wanted but for now he just wanted to keep his to himself.

"I wanted to see you especially. To say thanks. Not just for finding me but for saving my life too. I would have had an attack and my inhalers were gone."

Far from a big hand-shaker himself, Wyatt didn't offer either. But he did note how Murphy kept his hands in his pockets almost protectively. "It's very uncommon for the victim of this particular kind of crime to return to law enforcement to pay gratitude. It tends to remind them of the experience itself, which is generally perceived to be a negative. Not that your thanks isn't very kind, but one has to wonder as to how you arrived upon the decision to come here."

Wyatt never pulled any punches, and even though he was a very kind young man at heart, he could treat people more like statistics and test subjects rather than humans.

Micah very discreetly pinched Wyatt in the back of his arm as he gave Murphy a smile.

"What he means is that this is the first time this has ever happened, he's sort of statistic oriented, trust me," Micah said to Murphy as he wet his lips. "What he means is how are you doing?"

Well, in a way Wyatt was saying that.
