Giving Thanks
“We need to be more grateful. I think there is no true character without gratitude. It is one of the marks of a real strong character to have a feeling of thanksgiving and gratitude for blessings. We need more of that spirit in our homes, in our daily associations, in the church, everywhere. It doesn't cost anything, and it is so easy to cultivate.” - Ezra Taft Benson

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

Cait didn't understand or celebrate half of the surface holidays, but Thanksgiving was one she could understand. It was important to be thankful for the things one had in their life. For her it was her parents, Tyler and the Titans. She couldn't ask for more.

She helped with meal prep where she could.

Corinna once or twice looked in on the work. Then found herself seated with potatoes peeling them.

"Cait. I do not quite understand what this holiday is for. My Mother has spoken of it before but I find it rather puzzling. We sacrifice a bird, right? Well, where is it being kept?"

Iris blinks. She's helping with the cooking, have PROMISING that there wouldn't be any repeats of Great Gravy Incident of '05.

"We don't sacrifice the turkey..." she says, chopping up carrots, "He's already dead."

"It's one of the few surface holidays I understand. It's a day set aside for giving thanks for the things and people we have in our lives. Iris is correct. The turkey is already dead. Humans are weird when it comes to killing and preparing food."

"I do not understand why. It is easy to prepare a bird to roast after it is slaughtered," Corinna says with a puzzled look on her face. She is at least peeling without complaint.

"Though I suppose a holiday like this makes sense. It is a fall festival before winter after all." She glances at Iris. "Do you know why the meb are obsessed with this ... 'football'?"

"Not all of us. Some of us are baseball fans, thank you very muuu-- uuh." Teddy's eyes stop on Corrina. The youngest Knight needs to be around here more often, so he doesn't miss the arrival of hot new babes girls ...colleagues?

Dad seriously needs to school me on the proper lingo, he thinks.

Finding himself with nothing to say, Teddy holds out the casserole dish of sweet potatoes and marshmallows to the girls.
