Xavier's BBQ (open)
The air was warm and the sun was bright making it a perfect day for a cookout to celebrate Labor Day. Classes would start on the 8th (for those going to college they started a week ago) and it was the last chance to kick back and cut loose before hitting the books.

At Xavier's Institute For Higher Learning tables had been placed out around the pool and the large grill fired up. Burgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, corn on the cob, pasta salad, salad and fruit salad were just some of the food available to eat. Soda, water, fruit juice and other beverages were on ice.

Cait had even gone as far as going into the woods yesterday and made some garum. It was a surprise for her brother, the twerp liked the stuff, and making it near the mansion was not an option. It was currently in a small container on the table.

She stood on the edge of the pool and made different water sculptures unpon request. Yes, once and awhile a sphere of water would "just happen" to get out of her control and soak someone.

	Lucas has staked out a spot out on the lawns, not too far from the food and people, but where he shouldn't be too much in anyone's way either, and not at the tables. He's got a plate heaped with the various foods from the grill, and seems to currently be praying over it, eyes turned up to the sky. (Reply to this)(Thread)

"Well, I don't want to guarantee anything or get your hopes up, but if you and your family are willing to possibly consider alternate routes of study, shapeshifting magic is one of the more common shamanic paths. Granted, that's usually for human forms taking on animal bodies, but I might be able to see if ancestor spirits might know anything useful. It can't hurt to ask. Meanwhile, if the spirits will accept you, I can start helping you learn to work with spirits of healing."

"/If/ it worked, which would be a big if, it wouldn't really be a permanent fix, just let you change shape, probably for a few hours at a time at very most. Sorcery, from the little bit I understand, focuses on a true transformation - this is more a matter of asking a spirit to trade forms with you for a little bit. Like I said, I make no guarantees, but I'm willing to try if you're willing to let me. Though we'd have to go somewhere with more ancestor spirits, and, uhm, even if it worked, you'd end up looking native American when you shifted, not like yourself, since it'd be trading spirit skins, not forced transmutation."

	Joe (wearing an apron that said "Kiss the Cook") had taken over the grilling duties. Another year, another batch of new students, another whole mess of repairs to make when their powers went haywire, another batch of being borrowed by Logan and Mister Summers for "try and knock down the big guy" classes in the Danger Room. Chris had a pile of burgers at her side, rapidly vanishing, as she sat cross-legged on a bench. Meat just always tasted better when eaten with one's hands for her, and the same went for while she was in her catgirl form. It was a relief to have everyone home again, even with the parting of some of the graduating students recently. She was supposed to sit down with Mom and Dad sometime soon to look at colleges. Excuse to go hopping around the country for a week or two eventually. She was vaguely considering England or somewhere else in Europe as well.

But for now, there was meat.
