A Discussion (Force Works)
Tony waited in his office for Justin, Toni and Harvey to arrive and went over the pitch with them. He hoped Rhodey would show as well; he wanted everyone to start off on the right foot with this whole thing.

When Justin arrived, Tony nodded.

"Good to see you. How are you feeling?" he asks.

"I'm good, sir. I feel like a million bucks." Justin says.

Okay, it's not totally true, but he was going to fake until he could make it, because anything else wouldn't go over well. Next thing he knew, they'd be trying to get him to go back to the hospital or something.

Toni arrived not long after her brother. She did a quick check of her gauntlets. Her energy levels were normal. Good.

"Hey, Uncle Tony. Dad said to say he's on his way."

This was a little weird. Hannah still wasn't sure why she'd been called for a meeting with Tony Stark, just that she'd gotten the message when she went to have a little tweak done to some of her software. She wasn't afraid per se, but she was very concerned.

"Hello," Hannah said quietly and perhaps a bit awkwardly after she was shown to the meeting.

Harvey was the last to arrive to the meeting. "Good afternoon, Mr. Stark."

He glanced at Justin and Hannah respectively and smiled/nodded to them. (He hoped Hannah wouldn't be mad when she found out Harvey told Tony about her). Toni... he didn't know Toni other than what Justin had said about her.

"Hey, relax everyone! You all look like you're headed to a funeral." Tony says, chuckling a bit.

"I'm sure you're all wondering why I called you here. Well, it's because of an opportunity that I want to extend to all of you, regarding a new division of Stark Inc. that will be opening up.

We're re-working the Kansas City branch into a new subsidiary to pursue cutting edge leads in several fields. I've asked you all here today because I think you each have the necessary tools to help with this." Tony says.

"The other part of why I asked you here is a bit more...covert, but it ties into the new job offer. Are we all interested?" he asks.

"Mr. Stark doesn't make mistakes on something like this. If he invited you, he thinks you can contribute." Justin tells Hannah.

"I'm listening as well. What would we be doing? Would we actually need to move to Kansas City?" he asks.

That might be a little problematic for him.

The idea of moving to Kansas City, even though she was certain that she shouldn't be in this meeting, was weird for Hannah. Certainly she couldn't go; who would repair her when she inevitbly broke down? DId Kansas City have 4G networks? Did they have the technological infrastructure to support her functions? Absently she connected to the public wi-fi two buildings away and started doing research on the midwestern metropolis.

"They appear to have very good BBQ there," she offered quietly.

Toni toyed with her armbands, idly looking at the energy levels. Still normal. She wouldn't need to discharge any for a while yet.

"The Midwest is pretty neglected, as far as super-folk go."

"That it is, Toni. There have been some attempts to get some things done out there, but none of them have ever really panned out, which is why this new group is being formed." Tony says.

"Miss Jensen, Harvey's filled me about your...condition, and that's why I've called you here. Your situation is playing itself out in a many parts of the world today, and not necessarily with the consent of the people receiving the 'upgrade', so to speak.

Over the last few months, I've seen and heard of humans and others being used as test subjects for unscrupulous medical experiments and being turned into weapons for petty dictators. I, personally, believe that technology should be used to /help/ humanity overcome its issues, not create new ones.

I'm inviting all of you to help me get that back on track." Tony says.

"It wasn't Harvey's place to fill anyone in about my 'condition,'" Jensen says coolly. If she had lasers for eyes, Harvey would be in serious trouble right now.

She was putting that on her upgrade list.

For a moment she considers running from the room. And she considers crying, but tears aren't something she's really capable of anymore. And though the situation that Stark is describing is different than her own the truth was that she didn't consent to being made machine either. It was done entirely without her opinion or consent and she knew too well the pain of having to suddenly be part metal, part wire.

It doesn't matter how much of you is left alive; when you become part machine all of you dies.

She folds her hands in her lap.

"Okay."

Harvey makes sure he can't make eye contact with Jensen for awhile after that. He knew it was wrong to have told Mr. Stark about what happened to her, but he also knew there was something right about telling him. Harvey just hoped she would understand someday.

"I can help," Harvey replied.

Lack of eye contact or not Jensen's irritation would be well communicated. Even as he spoke, his cell phone would vibrate in his pocket with a new text message.

There will be a conversation about this betrayal of my trust, Mr. Hogan.

She turned her glare away from him and tried to stay calm. Anger never went well with her circuitry.

Justin makes a mental note to check on his brother after this, because he doesn't want him getting wailed on by this woman. Though, he can also understand Hannah's irritation. He's pretty sure he can help smooth it over though.

"Do we get any time to think about this, sir? I'll be up front; my parents and my girlfriend live here in New York and, while this is a great opportunity, I'd be leaving the only home I've known since I...got here." Justin says, changing his sentence at the last moment.

"I just need get a few things understood." he says.

Toni realized she'd have to talk things over with Charlie too. But hell, if they survived being separated by time and dimensions, a few hundred miles would be fine.

"Miss Jensen, don't blame Harvey. He didn't meant to give up further information about you after his initial slip, but I pressed him for details. If OsCorp is violating people's human rights to do things like this, we need to address it.

Same with anyone using their technology." Tony says.

"I'd like you all to take forty-eight hours to think about this. We'll meet up again and make a decision. How does that sound? Tony asks the group.

"I can agree with that, sir," Harvey replied. He had to talk to his boss about leaving. Two days was really... bad timing. But they had a good friendship, so Harvey was sure he could get away with leaving sooner.

She wanted to tell Mr. Stark that an initial slip was all that it would take to have ended her life had it been to the wrong person. She didn't, however. Her processes were too busy sorting the options she now had.
