Moving Chess Pieces
Ophois had plans. Those plans required very careful maneuvering and he didn't want those whelps of Thor to interfere. It was time to put some things into motion that should provide a big enough distraction to allow him to do what he needed to do.

He had a few people to visit to set things in motion.

The first stop was the Defenders' compound. They had a few items in their vault he wanted.

Roxie had been outside the Defenders' mansion when the strange bald man came up to her and offered her a chance to get next to the male members, specifically Hal, like she wanted to. She wanted nothing more than to get near the object of her desire.

He teleported her to some strange place with a large ivory idol in it. He told her to touch it and when she did she could feel the power coursing through her.

She had been transformed into Bedlam.

Malik Davenport was sitting on the bunk in his jail cell when a bald man suddenly appeared in his cell. Malik jumped up and went to smash the man into a bloody pulp, but the man grabbed Malik's fist and squeezed. Malik went to his knees a moment later.

Then the man said why he was there and Malik quickly agreed to the deal. A second later they disappeared from the cell and appeared in a temple. The man, Ophois, urged him to take the gauntlet from the altar and put it on.

Malik was transformed into Carnivore the exemplar of Farallah.

Ophois gave Malik instructions and then disappeared.

Omar Muhammad al-Tikriti sat outside the opening to the cave in a remote region of Afghanistan. His weapon was sitting on a nearby rock as he smoked his cigarette. The surrounding area was quiet and nothing movied.

Omar reached for his weapon when the bald man appeared out of thin air. He fired and the bullets ricocheted off of him. The weapon was ripped out of Omar's hands and Omar stared at the bald man.

Ophois just laughed at Omar and then told him why he was here.

Omar eagerly accepted the deal and was handed the Kestral Key of Krakkan. A moment later he became Conquest.

Jaya Indrajit Sharma stared at her reflection in the mirror. She would say that she became more beautiful each day. Movement in the mirror caught her attention and for a second she thought it was that worthless servant that had folded her towels wrong, but she was surprised to see a man standing there.

"How dare you!" she yelled.

Ophois smiled and explained who he was and what he was doing there. A moment later Jaya accepted the Verdant Vial of Valtorr from him and became Decay.

Rory Cameron stood outside the warehouse down by the docks and pulled a lighter from a pants pocket. A can of gasoline sat on the ground next to him. He was getting paid a lot of money to torch this place.

He watched a car drive away from the warehouse and Rory picked up the can. It was time to get to work.

A bald man suddenly blocked his path. Rory tried to move around him, but the bald man moved with him.

Ophois introduced himself and offered Rory his dream. A moment later thousands of miles away the two stood in front of the Blinding Brazier of Balthakk to become Inferno.

Jean Peterson sat in the small cafe and drank a cup of coffee. Her mind worked to find a way to get into the Defenders' compound to regain the Crimson Ruby of Cyttorak. She had been strong, invulnerable and unstoppable when she had it in her possession. Never again did she want to feel powerless like her ex-husband did on a daily basis.

The waitress set a wrapped gift on the table in front of her. Jean looked at it for a moment and then removed the card from the top. She read it and smiled before tearing the gift open.

Jean was transformed back into the Juggernaut when she removed the crimson gem inside.

Haruki Kurou Wakahisa sat in the cubicle of his father's company's offices. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to be at home building machines instead of doing this menial job. He looked at the clock and stood up. It was time for lunch.

He grabbed his lunch and headed for the elevator. When it opened he stepped inside and stood next to the bald man.

When the elevator reached the ground floor Stonecutter stepped out of the elevator.

	Ekua Thandiwe carried the clay vessel of water up from the stream to the small hut she lived in. She paused and looked to the west. One she would return to her village and the warlord ruling over it would be ousted. The man appeared out of the air and offered her a deal. She eagerly accepted it. She was teleported to the Wondrous Waterfall of Watoomb and became Tempest. (Reply to this)
