Extended Family!
Derek was someone who liked having a family, even if it were one of the most unusual families out there (although he had heard the Summers family was even crazier, but he didn't know them except through reputation), but even with the weirdness of his family it never seemed to be overwhelming. But it could sometimes be overwhelming for him. So here he was, about to introduce a cousin to another cousin.

Not that technically one cousin was actually an older nephew and the other an adopted demon form limbo who got a soul. But that's just a technicality. So here he was, knocking on Macs door with a good amount of takeout and waiting to hear from Dolemeck as to when he would be arriving.

Dolemeck was still getting used to the customs of mortals and humans. Handshaking to him was odd, hugs where something he would flail about from, and personal space was... something he never had as a demon in Limbo (along with privacy). Because of this, he did not come through the front door of Mac's apartment. He just shadow ported by a bookshelf and started to read what books Mac had.

He had to be reminded time and time again to use front doors to people's homes, and not just libraries or stores. Dolemeck also had to be reminded not to spoil the endings of books. For not all beings read as much as he did... or as quickly.

"Oh! You have a copy of "Great Expectations"! Such a sad and wonderful book! I certainly enjoyed when Pip..."

"Oh, but I already have two editions of the book, I do not need anymore." he smiled, though he honestly did not understand why someone would have a book and not read it. The spine was not even broken in on this one, or any others on this bookshelf. "You should read it sometime. It is a very good story!"

His attention soon turned to Derek, smiling nervously as he was scolded a little by the man he considered to be more of a brother than a cousin.

"I am sorry, Derek. I forgot again." He looked even more nervous as he looked about the room, toying with his waits length black hair. "This whole concept of "greeting family" is hard to grasp sometimes. Why is it not like when I go to a store, again?"

	Mac chuckles slightly. "Nice to meet you, Dole. And no, sorry, it's not a store." He skirts the issue of the book. It hadn't taken Mac long to decide that he didn't like Phillip Pirrup, and why should he spend any more time on a dude he didn't like when he could be working or playing basketball? "I know not who my "true" birthmother is, like most demons in Limbo. We just awaken one day and that is it." he frowned some at the thought. "Demons do not have "family units" like you do. We constantly fight amongst one and other for whatever prizes were to be found. What you would consider "basic needs", I suppose."

Just thinking of Limbo would scare the living daylights out of Dolemeck, so he would force a smile and just change the subject. "Venus and Bob are my parents now. They have cared for me very well and have been very kind to me! They both say they love me like one of their own."

"It was very rough. But Mother and Father have been very good to me, though Uncle Ken says they coddle me too much." Dolemeck continue to force that smile on his face. "They have shown me the love a family can provide. It is such a wonderful thing. It is why I call Derek my "brother". I think of him as a very close family member to me!"

Dolemeck felt uncomfortable, but was happy to speak about how much he loved his adoptive family. They were all he had on Earth, after-all. He nervously rubbed at his eye, which was still a bit bruised from the bullying he endured on the "Great Lawn" a few days earlier. If it had not been for Derek, it could have been worse.

"They have bought me my own apartment in Manhattan, and I have all the books I could ever want. Mother and Father wish me to try and discover myself and what I wish to do with my life. So far, I have not found anything."

Dolemeck nearly dropped the egg roll he was about to bite into. His face was a bright red as he gave Derek a look. he then took a bite of his egg roll, sitting in a chair with his back straight and looking as proper as possible.

"Well... I... I am frightened to talk to girls. There, I said it! Are you happy now, Derek?" He gave an almost pouty look as he bit down on more of the eggroll. "I would not know what to say to one who was not my Mother, anyway."

"I shy away from all women, Derek. And I know that you say I would be good in a library, but... " Dolemeck sighed, leaning back against his chair for a moment. "It is hard for mortals to understand. You have this world, with all these beautiful, different places. Staying in a library all the time working is no different than living in Limbo. The scenery does not change, and everything is the same day in and out."

"I want to see things, experience things most people take for granted. And while I am reluctant to fight, I will do so if I must to protect this world." He spoke passionately. He would not fight against those who harmed him, but would fight tooth and nail to protect Earth and his new family. "This place is my home now, after-all. I want nothing bad to happen to it."

"San Francisco was very interesting! Some of the streets were slanted, and it too me awhile to get used to it. I learned that males can be with other males and females can be with other females... which was shocking, as in Limbo we had no real concept "love" and some demons were genderless. I also learned about boats, and the ocean..." he clapped his hands thinking of all the wonders he saw back in San Francisco. "I also was impressed by the Golden Gate Bridge. I had never seen a bridge before! But after a few years, I longed to see more. So Mother and Father said I should go explore New York, and if I got homesick, to come home. Oh... and not to do anything bad."
