[Chase stared at the parallel bars set up in front of him, his wheelchair pointed toward one of the open ends of it. He was supposed to be waiting for a nurse or some kind of spotter before doing this but the Crow couldn't stand being in the damn wheelchair a moment longer. He hated being helpless like this and having to rely on others for so much of what he used to be able to do on his own.

A glance at the door and he put the locks on the wheels, grabbing both bars as his feet set on the ground. It felt odd, the floor under his bare feet again and Chase looked down at them only to give a rueful laugh. They looked pale and weak, but he hadn't lost much muscle mass in his legs which was something he was thankful for. His arms he needed to tone again what with not being able to lift weights because of his ribs. At least he could do that now in his wheelchair, the doctors said his ribs were as good as new again but to lay off doing any squats with them for a few more months.

But he dallied long enough, hoisting himself up onto his feet and pushed up with them as well. Immediately they started to give, knees buckling and hurting. Chase bit back a curse and pulled himself up again, arms shaking with the effort but he managed to support his weight long enough to lock his knees. Even if he was panting with the effort.]

Ha... This'll be longer than I thought...

[Curling around Chase slightly, making himself comfortable where he is. Really, he'd apologize for taking up so much room, but... he's too comfortable. Too content. So Allen just turns his head so that his ear is pressed to Chase's skin, able to listen clearly. And sleep he will, though Allen never sleeps very heavily. He'll wake up again if Chase tries to move away from him.]

[He doesn't mind Allen's weight on top of him, it's familiar and comforting. It's warm. The Crow keeps stroking his hair as he sings, slipping into another song as it ends. Another follows after that and he falls silent, letting Allen sleep but he still shifts out before lunch and murmuring softly to keep sleeping.

Chase eats his meal and goes into his office, he's working on something that he's not sure Allen will really like but he needs the device back, a purely mechanical Tease. Trying to keep quiet and playing the CD Allen made to cover the noises he's making.]

[Allen protests of course, reaching sleepily for Chase to come back and join him when he leaves. But he knows Chase must be hungry by now, and he relents after a moment, pulling his arms back to him. They're still slightly extended even after he drifts off again, though.

The noises might wake him once or twice, if only because he's a light sleeper, but he won't wander out to go see Chase. He knows there are windows out there, after all, and Chase would be upset if he left the room.</i>]</small>

[You know he wouldn't be able to stay, not unless he somehow put food on the nightstand the night before. And they're not at a point where he'd stay in bed all day with Allen, he'd work from bed if he could but all that he needs is in his office.

He's being as quiet as he can be. But the work won't be done by the time it's dark enough that Allen will awake. In fact, Chase actually pulls himself back up into the bed for a nap sometime around five after feeding Seren and playing with her a bit.]

[He knows, really he does. But sometimes it's hard to remember that sort of thing when you're half awake, and your primary source of warmth is leaving you. >: Allen sleeps through most of the day as usual, Chase might hear some slow movement from inside the room once or twice for needing a bathroom run, or being woken up by something or other.

He curls towards Chase when he crawls back into bed, five is still too early, though he should be able to get up around the time that Chase does from his nap. Still, he lets out a sleepy hum, resisting the urge to move any closer than he already has.] How's Seren...?

[Which is why Chase will probably be getting thicker blankets in his room soon, so out of the way it doesn't get a lot of heat and they'll need it come winter. A space heater will help with his bedroom and bathroom at least, the office too. But the main room will be a bit of a problem. It almost makes him move into the bedroom to check on him, those movements, he just reminds himself that Allen would call for him (hopefully) if he needed him.

The Crow shifts back to his original position, wrapping his arms around Allen and his head tucked under his chin. He's got a sweater on and is much warmer.] 'xcited 'bout'er new day care project. 's tyin'er shoes. Makin a mess o'my boots. Nurse is takin'er out ta tha courtyard nearby, Zane too.

[Allen certainly won't complain. More warmth will always make him happy~ And maybe less time in the main room will mean more time in the bedroom. One of Allen's favorite things about having somewhere to actually live now is curling up under covers.

He can't help but smile at that though, and he shifts closer, winding an arm around Chase's waist and letting out a more pleased little hum. You are very, very warm. He likes it~] S'too tiny to be tying her shoes... [Bit of a pout in his tone. How can she already be that big?]

[He'll get all the warmth he could possibly handle, physically and emotionally. ♥ It's time for him to get the best of things and simply enjoy them without worrying if they're going to suddenly disappear one day. Yeah, he'll be in the bedroom or his office, depends on what has to be done that day. He was able to live in Bikevi's place, what's so different about Chase's?

As soon as Allen is settled he shifts onto his back a little more, just enough that Allen's weight is resting comfortably on him without being too much. He's not too warm yet so the sweater is staying on for now.] She's a year 'nd six months almost. 's plenty big 'nough. [Chuckling softly and nosing his hair. Sleep.]

[♥ But even if he can be secure in the relationship, that fear is always thee when it comes to the people in the Dressing Room. Happy as he might be, that might never go away. No difference, just in general. Having a bed is so much nicer than sleeping in alleys or on the beach.

Nestling himself somewhere on Chase that he can hear his heart easily, though mostly without too much squirming involved, and without increasing the weight on Chase anymore than he already was. Sleeping this way is the most natural for him now - he's been doing something similar with Lavi for months.] Nu-uh... [Curling his fingers in the sweater, and letting out a soft, content little hum. Okay, okay. Sleep well~]

[Chase won't be leaving, he's got perhaps one more trip back home but after that...staying. Until it's time to retire him and send him home with Seren (and maybe Allen). And such a big, soft, plush bed he's got to sleep in~ All the room he could possibly ever want.

He wouldn't mind more of Allen's weight. He was going to pull him onto his chest and lay on his back but after a while even that irritates his shoulder. Sleeping like this is probably the most comfortable for him, just close enough that it's barely intimate. Chase is about to say it is too but he wore himself out more than he thought, sleep overtaking him easily.]

[Hopefully a good trip? ~~...Allen might not be opposed to that.~~ That is a definitely plus of staying with Chase. Allen loves Lavi to bits, but... their bed was not made for more than one person. It's why he almost always end up half-on top of Lavi. Not that he minds, of course, but then when Lavi gets up he always needs to move... He really does like this bed more. ~~And it leans so well to rolling around--~~

He'd roll off of him if it started hurting his shoulder, the sound would wake him up and he doesn't want to hurt Chase. But for now, since Chase doesn't reply, nothing else keeps Allen up; he drifts off a few moments later, falling back into the darkness that met him at every sunrise.]

[Don't know yet, it might end up being another blah trip like the last one home was. Just to get him to another record where he isn't in trouble of having his cover blown by the idiot blonde. ~~It all depends, right?~~ Well, maybe with twin gone they can push the beds together? That way they'll have room. ~~Rolling around on it is definitely fun.~~

It's still up in the air so there's no need for Allen to be concerned about it. Chase wraps both of his arms around him as he drifts in and out of dreams during his nap, internal clock waking him up around seven thirty or so. And forgets himself. Nosing at Allen and almost stealing a kiss before he recalls things. ~~Probably happened more than a few times in the hospital too.~~ He stops and pulls back, letting out a frustrated sigh and sets his chin on Allen's head again.]

[Pffff, poor Chase. Plagued by blonds. ~~Right~~~

Allen's more than happy to be this close to Chase, whether it might be considered too much or not. He doesn't fall too far into his sleep this time, and so the light sound of Chase's body picking back up rouse him from it - enough so that he realizes the kiss that Chase just barely stopped in time. He blinks at first, fairly sure that Chase doesn't know whether he's up or not... and after a moment Allen half sits up, bending down to press a very light kiss to the corner of the Crow's lips.]

Chase doesn't consider it too much the way they're situated right now, but it has the potential to be should either of them give into it. But it's a habit now for them to lay like this anyway, comforting. A whole lot of things that he does with Allen is comforting really and he wonders if that's what it's supposed to feel like... Real love that isn't based off lust or anything else. It's a sleepy thought that he nudges out of the way, too caught up in it to notice Allen sitting up.

But he does notice the kiss, eyes flicking up at him with a bit of surprise.]

Wha' was tha' fer?

[Allen wouldn't really know, wouldn't be able to tell Chase what real love felt like at all. He knows he loves Chase and Lavi in different ways... but he can't tell what those ways are anymore, because all his love for Lavi does anymore is hurt. The contrast, to instead be with someone that you love and feel comfort, like he does with Chase... it's almost bizarre, but it's part of why he clings to it. Can't let Chase go even though it would probably be the best thing he could do for him.

Allen smiles a very soft and just slightly nervous smile down at Chase, and he shifts a little before brushing the Crow's hair out of his face and kissing his forehead this time.]

...because you didn't. [He knows... that sometimes it probably feels a lot like Chase is the only one of them really trying in this-- whatever this is. And he's sorry it seems that way. But it's his way of showing that he wants it this way. Wants to try.

And for a moment, Allen wants to say those three little words. Wants to mean them with all his heart; and he's sure that if he did now, he would. But later on, he'd go back to his room with Lavi... and would he still mean it then?

...so he doesn't say them. Instead he lies back down again, curling up against Chase and humming. Unless he's stopped, of course.]

[And he's afraid of asking Lavi if that's what it is. Because Lord knows he'll jump on that like white on rice and try all sorts of things to push them together. When all Chase wants to do is take things slow and do them his own way. Even...if it ends up like it always has in the past. Though maybe he isn't over Aiden if he keeps comparing everyone to the vampire when they try to make connections with him, needs to stop comparing Allen to him. Because Allen came back. Aiden...never did.

He's quiet for a moment, hand drifting up Allen's side.] Dinna wanna wake ya...

[That among many other reasons. Not wanting or knowing if that was too fast. Just say so and he'll understand, this pushing just feels - to him - like rushing and like Aiden. Never wanting to wait and just going for that instant gratification.

The corner of Chase's mouth tugs up a little bit but he remains carefully blank, not closed off. Just...confused if it had to be given an emotion. It doesn't stop him from wrapping his arm around him again, fingertips stroking his back.] Did ya wanna go eat b'fore we talked? Er did ya wanna do tha' on yer way home?

[Yes, he called Lavi's place home.]

[It's one of the unfortunate things about Lavi's character, sadly. Allen loves him, of course, but he... pushes things like this a little too much. Can only seem to fathom "going slow" when it comes to himself and his own relationships, because for him there's no other way to go ~~because he always goes after Kandas~~.

And even if things end badly as far as that goes... Allen will always come back. For as long as this place lets him. As long as he gets to keep calling the Dressing Room his world.

It's not like Allen would know what might be "too fast" though. Not like he'd have even the slightest idea. To him, this is plenty slow.

Allen hums softly at the fingers against his back, an almost-but-not-quite purr. It's just a light touch, but it feels nice. And Allen lifts a hand, tracing patterns against Chase's chest.]

...This is home too, Chase.

[Which he feels the need to correct. He may have spent most of his time at Lavi's... but it didn't make this place and less his home as well.]

[Which is why he'll find someone else to talk to it about. Heaven knows who he's going to find... He might have to broach the topic with someone that he's just met. Something he definitely doesn't want to do but if it would keep Lavi from meddling... Bad enough he has to tell him the basics of what's going on.

Question is...would Chase let him come back? Or would he try to sever it for Allen's health?

Forehead and cheek kisses, yes. But not the lips. They haven't even had their first date yet! Chase snorts softly and then sighs, goosebumps following Allen's touch even through the sweater.

But the noises the goosebumps make don't cover up that tight feeling in his chest, that hope... Hiding his nose in Allen's hair.]

[Well, that’d certainly be awkward, wouldn’t it? But it’s not like he has a lot of people to go to in this place. None of them are very well…. Adjusted to things like this. All awkward, bumbling weirdos, that trail drama everywhere they go. It makes figuring out what on earth they should actually be doing horribly odd.

Psh. Like Allen ever picks his own health. Chase wouldn’t have much luck at severing it without doing damage.

That’s why he stuck to just the corner, though! He was being careful. Not pushing too far. A small smile tugs at his lips as the goosebumps rise on Chase’s skin, a slightly amused one. It always sounded so weird. Like a roll of bubblewrap popping.

Allen pauses a little at that sound, the lingering hopefulness in it, and his fingers still against Chase’s chest before splaying out to press his palm flat against it instead.

...He can’t help but wonder if this is really fair to Chase. He wanted this so much-- and Allen did too, he did, it was just... Did he want it as much as Chase did? He can’t tell; whenever he asks himself, different parts say different things to him.]

...Lavi can wait a few more hours before I go back. [so... whatever answer lets him stay longer, basically.]

[The only one with relationship experience that he knows is breath!Kanda and it's not like it's come up before, that he's had relationships. All they talk about is Seren or what to do about his Lavi or Fourteenth. So he might have to go to Lavi about this...

That's why Chase is there. He can go home with Seren and just...stay there. Though that would be a last resort.

Good Allen.

Chase puts his free hand over the one on his chest, the one on Allen's back now resting on the small of it.

It doesn't matter, not really, now that he's told himself to just go after whatever happiness he can and hold onto it for as long as he can. Chase is happy when he's with Allen like this. And when their time together comes to an end, either temporarily like tonight or permanently later on, then he'll have more happiness to look back on. It might help him get through the sadness.

Chase murmurs "alright" and then grows silent, trying to figure out how to best bring this up. Will it set them back relationship wise? He doesn't know, but he has to find out about Reseteenth.]

How come you never told me about that Fourteenth of yours? [Accent gone, because this is a serious matter to him. But the sounds of his body are of slight betrayal, hurt, and anger. Yet the anger sounds so tired, as if he doesn't want to deal with it anymore.]

...That'd be much too cruel, Chase. Much... much too cruel.

Allen spreads his fingers a bit so that Chase's fingers lay in the spaces between his own. And Allen just looks at their hands, letting out a very slight hum, a soft sigh. This was too comfortable, he thinks. And he wonders how long it's going to last. He doesn't want to let moments like this go.

He strokes his thumb over Chase's chest through the sweater when he goes silent. He's not sure why he's having quite so much difficulty, but he's trying to be comforting. Reassuring.]

[Until Chase actually asks, and Allen tenses up, his fingers curling slightly in the Crow's sweater. Oh, god. How did Chase know? Had someone told him? Had Lavi told him? And if not... did it mean that the Fourteenth had been out again, and Allen hadn't even been aware of it..?]

...I've only told one person.. I didn't even tell Lavi. [ ... ] He only found out because he met him...
