Happy Birthday Foxy (blood-free version)
Tonight was a strictly non-business night. And he was for all intents and purposes going to pretend this was March 20th and not...over a month later. So while he may be dressed in an all black suit and shirt with a red tie and a classic domino mask that was just Robin enough for her to see it, but not enough for a too obvious connection for anyone else, he was certainly not really "Robin". That would mean there was some aspect of the crimefighting in there. And tonight that was off the table. This was about as close as to the real him as he could get, that odd mix between Thomas and Robin that never appeared if he was worried about fighting crime or people not finding out he was Robin.

About a week ago he'd broken into one of her safehouses and left a note about the party they were going to hijack for her birthday.

Because if you were going to crash a party discretely you had to do it with style.

And for the two of them? That meant a masquerade party was the way to go.

	He pretty much counts it as one, and fully intends to get a dance out of her. But first things first. He glances over at something behind her, "Are they handing out food over there?" 	"Well we can't have someone sulking on their birthday," he smiles and plays along as he gives the waiter his glass too. He takes that hand and gently pulls her through the crowds towards the dance floor. All while taking note of the various masks around. It was quite fun he had to admit. He had actually thought about what the mask opened up but...he wasn't going to dwell on it right now. Enjoy the party first.

Pulling her into the dance he smirks and leans in to whisper in her ear, in Farsi (he's been practicing), "What do you think? Paste and she can't tell?" He's glancing at a rather extravagant necklace one woman decided to wear. Really, half the fun at these things was to see how many pieces were real.

	She considers the necklace. It's a good fake and looks real enough in this light. So she decides to tell him what she thinks. "She knows. People didn't pay much attention to them as long as they were dancing. He carefully adjusts his hand so it's resting on her lower back and he can pull her in.

He looks over to verify what she says but then looks interested. "Ah but the husband doesn't know. He's too concerned." He shakes his head a little, he could already tell her multiple threads that would lead to that but really...good fake or no, it was never a good sign when both didn't know.

"Okay...how about the jade earrings over there?" He's having a little bit of fun with this game.

"That one's real. The pendant on that other lady is actually serpentine." Maybe a bat really shouldn't know that much about telling real and fake jewelry apart, but it wasn't like he was expected not to know anything about it. He just happened to have had a very thorough education in the subject.

The hand on her back might be holding her closer than most people seemed to be dancing but he doesn't seem to notice. "What's your specialty Foxy?" He'll stick with Farsi because he needs the practice and, more importantly, because she likes it.

"Hmmm. Good eye. I thought it was," she admits. Honestly him being able to tell that kind of thing isn't weird to her at all.

"Sapphires are the easiest for me to judge," she admits. "Diamonds follow up closely followed by pearls. You need to be careful with pearls."

She doesn't care that they happen to be closer than other people right now. Even through the fabric of her dress that feels pleasant.

"Sapphires? Because you like them or more practical reasons?" He'd admit that jades were only a specialty of his because his mother had liked them. Diamonds too for that reason. And it was so much easier to learn about them when she'd pull out her jewelry as examples to compare to. But that also meant he wasn't so good with pearls. It was an unwritten rule in the manor that unless it was for a mission, people didn't wear or talk about pearls.

Dancing did give them an excuse to be this close, and he was quite glad that he actually knew how to dance. He really wouldn't have this opportunity to be near her otherwise.
