Support & Games
It has come to my attention that a community on Scribbld is causing a lot of issue and I've actually suspended the account (but it's now unsuspended). Basically because we have no ToS people are pretty much free to write about and post about anything they want. Obviously that is a real issue but I've always said from day one, if you have to think twice about the content you're posting then don't post it at all. This continues to hold true and if you're submitting objectionable content, just don't. You'll probably end up getting banned or suspended.

I am not really sure what provokes people to post such mean and hateful content and as mentioned in a support ticket, I will definitely be closing this community in question if I get more complaints from users.

I personally think the community should be allowed to stay open but ONLY members of the community can participate in their little game. I believe that is what I will propose and if that rule is broken (via a user reporting it) I will close the community. I believe that is how I will handle it.

What I don't understand is why can't people just keep to themselves. Choose your friends wisely...

I will be speaking with a few other people today to get their opinions on the issue and from there we will decide on whether or not to keep the community open.

-----------

In other news....Keith came over last night and we hung out. I hooked him up with Aperture 2 and Cloverfield. [info]makkintosshu also stopped over to drop off an Ethernet cable. we all hung out and chatted video games. As with every Tuesday night we'll be online playing Call of Duty 4 -- my gamertag is vtequine.

[info]emilie made us a really good dinner last night, Shepards Pie. I loved it. Then we just hung out pretty much for the rest of the night.

I've also been working with Morgan and talking about a new project he's working on. More details to be revealed later :) it'll be neat though.

I finally got an S2 style I like except when I leave the comment page to be the style it looks horrid, I hate how none of the S2 stuff seems to indent or nest the comments. It's lame, but at least I like the layout...

I believe that's all I have to say for right now

From what I know about [info]flamecup, this been on GJ as well as LJ and has been virtually unchanged ever since.
The flames can be quite vile, some anons even going as far as posting pornographic, photoshopped pictures of pictures *stolen* from friends only posts or people's Myspaces to ridcule and taunt the person that the flame is about.

Sure, e-bullying is nothing new but I really don't like the idea of people stealing pictures of from friends only journals.
Myspaces, okay sure, if they are public myspaces, but from privated journals?

Yeah, but posting something from an f/o journal is already against flamecup's rules.

It is, but I don't think flamers give a hoot cause I see [info]rumors take down the friend's only pics all the time and yet people still don't follow that rule.

That doesn't mean it won't happen though. I see it happening a lot actually.

Right, but why penalize the owners of the community for that? They take it down the second they find out about it, but they can't know 100% that every flame follows the rules before it's posted.

No, they do not.

Besides, the mods are to be held responsible since no one KNOWS who are the folks using privated pics on that community.

I have seen a case ONCE where it wasn't taken down immediately. That person is no longer a mod and publicly apologized. It's handled.

Then I see no reason as to why this community should be closed. It's going to happen and there's not much people can do about it. People who do not want any involvement need not have any. There are thousands of users on here who probably don't know anything about community and good for them, it's not that hard for you to step back and not get involved. I personally wouldn't be involved at all or even know about the community had I not been the person who owns this website.

People have to get involved with these sorts of things, yes there's always going to be drama, but it's not that hard to step back and take yourself away from it...

The mods dont take down the flames right away, but sometimes even the mods themselves can be quite "Oh shut the freak up" disrespectful if someone complains about a flame or two.

I had a bad tongue twister there.

The flames can be quite vile, some anons even going as far as posting pornographic, photoshopped flames of pictures *stolen* from friends only posts or people's Myspaces to ridcule and taunt the person that the flame is about.

That is what I meant to say.

Pornographic pictures...?

The only thing I've seen that is remotely pornographic was [info]fallen_scarlett's ass. She didn't seem to mind. I think she even posted pictures for people to flame in a comment thread in flamecup lol.

What about the one about [info]gulf?
Or the fact the anons spam each other in thread with pornographic pics sometimes?

This is not 4chan, people...

Who is gulf? Link please.

And if you mean the pictures of [info]perverted's vagina, well she posted those herself somewhere. Those are the consequences. If you don't want something seen and used against you, DON'T POST IT. When it comes down to it, the internet is public domain. If you have to think twice about posting something...chances are...you shouldn't be posting it.

Yeah if you're going to publicly post stuff like that then it's your loss, don't be that stupid.

If you have to think twice about posting something...chances are...you shouldn't be posting it.

Right on.

I wish people could understand that.

It's common sense, really.

[info]jimmy

Yeah it really is...so yeah...people need to start thinking about what they're posting before they're posting and who they're posting it too....I have no control over that, if you do something stupid, then it's not my issue.

Very true...but people should stay away from communities like this if they cannot handle it...I don't go around clicking and searching for this kind of stuff, if you don't like it, it's not that hard to avoid...I mean I haven't seen any of this kinda stuff...fortunately heh heh heh

I completely agree with this some communities have turned really horrible with people attacking each other left right and centre I think it's pretty sad that people actually spend their time on the internet trying to hurt someone elses feelings.

No you're definitely right, but for people like you and I, who cares, I mean we stay out of it right? Let people do what they want...we'll have fun over in the fun section :)
