Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
With the time and date agreed upon, a perfect plan had now been set into motion; it was simple really, the gift of a home he and Cygnus could call their own, a home that would give them both the means and opportunity to visit each other more than they had in the past. The gift, however, seemed to be much more thoughtful and caring than Gaultier had anticipated, and not being a man of romance, he spent the day attempting to convince himself it was only a means of privacy, a place hidden away where the fucking could continue for hours without disturbing the neighbours. Of course, in the end, there was no denying the fact Cygnus had grown on him, had become an important part of his life, and perhaps this was a way of showing the man precisely how much he meant.

A heavy sigh escaped slightly parted lips as Gaultier collapsed (rather dramatically, mind) into the nearest chair where he took another long sip of the golden liquid of whiskey that currently filled his glass. It was a gift, from Cygnus, and perhaps that was why Gaultier found himself drinking it. The vile alcohol would have otherwise been locked away with the rest, and left there for an emergency. But this, this was an emergency -- Gaultier was feeling anxious, like a teenager, his stomach twisted into knots. As if Cygnus would deny him, reject the gift .. but still, the thought was there, and it was all Gaultier could do to keep himself from growling out in frustration over the subconscious nagging.

Is it even seven yet?

The angry words spat back and forth to one another during their last encounter left Gaultier feeling much more inadequate than he would have admitted if asked; perhaps that was why he was now feeling so unlike himself, nervous. The apology had helped, some, and Gaultier had put the feeling behind him since -- tried to, at any rate -- yet still the sudden appearance of Cygnus left him a little curious as to what was acceptable now, and what was not. The gift, he hoped, would settle what ever differences might still lie between them.

"Cygnus," the greeting was whispered as his glass suddenly found the edge of his desk, Gaultier leaving it there as he stood with a smile. "It's alright, I figured you might. Was expecting it, even." There was a moment then where he fell silent and simply watched him, quietly, curiously before moving to stand at his side. "I wasn't aware of how eager you'd be for your gift, though. Tell me, have you figured out what it is yet?"

With his gaze still locked to Cygnus' own did he lift his hands, pushing Cygnus' coat from his shoulders as gently as he could -- this had been done so many times before, yet not as affectionately as Gaultier was now.

"My--?"

Cygnus interrupted his own question, lips parting to form a small o of sudden comprehension. He had, in all honestly, been so focused on the meeting itself that the reason for it slipped his mind, and so he'd quite forgotten that Gaultier promised a pleasant surprise. What it could possibly be, Cygnus could barely begin to guess, and that utter ignorance was clearly visible on his face as he held Gaultier's unrelenting stare, shoulders rolling back to ease the coat from his frame.

"Eager, yes," he added, matching Gaultier's whisper with a typically hoarse one of his own. Now freed of his coat, he moved his hands, placing each lightly behind one of Gaultier's elbows as he continued to study the other man. "But, I admit, less for the gift, and more for -- this." A flick of his eyes, gaze sweeping to take in the room and the discarded whiskey -- that brought a slight upward tilt to his lips -- indicated that this was in fact this meeting; and with a small, almost sheepish shrug, he returned his gaze to Gaultier.

He'd already apologized, as profusely as he ever did, yet he felt as though there was something that needed to be said. But what? Unsure of himself, Cygnus switched his attention to the gift, clearing his throat as he asked, "Is it large?"

This? Cygnus was looking forward to their meeting more than his gift? That took Gaultier aback a moment, but then it was to be expected -- Cygnus wasn't quite acting like himself, he seemed much more quiet; more quiet than Gaultier would have liked, anyway. With his own lips pursed did he raise a single shoulder in a brief show of concern. "I just thought --" and with his words trailing off did he withdraw from Cygnus, a single step or two, before giving a nod. If Cygnus wanted to change the subject, there would be no stopping him. Gaultier hated how awkward it had all become. "Yes, it is rather large."

Large wouldn't truly describe it: the house, by no means massive, was still large enough for an entire family to live and have no trouble in avoiding seeing one another for days, if one so desired. Gaultier had made sure, in purchasing the property, that it came fully equipped with a garden as well -- if he remembered properly, Cygnus did mention liking that of his own home. There was more than enough wood along side for them to take a relaxing stroll after dinner, among other various bits and pieces Gaultier found he himself enjoyed. This, along with the thought in mind that he and Cygnus would have a place they could call their own, finally sold him on the idea. It was that very morning that he sent in the money, acquiring the key not long after in an owl.

"Open your hand, Cygnus, and close your eyes." The demand was a simple one, in which Gaultier knew Cygnus would follow eventually, even if hesitantly. Watching, and waiting, Gaultier smiled despite himself, the very key he had received only hours before suddenly coming to rest in the palm of Cygnus' hand. "I thought.." with another pause did Gaultier lean forward, gently stroking his fingers along Cygnus' cheek, continuing much more quietly, "it'd be nice for us to have a place to go when we spend time with one another. Some place other than a hotel room.."

Gaultier was right: Cygnus wasn't acting like himself -- at least, not his current self. Rather, the hesitancy in his words and the caution with which he watched the other man was reminiscent of his sixteen year old self, unsure and -- although he would never, ever admit to it -- overwhelmed by Gaultier. Had he been blushing, he would appear entirely as he did the morning after that first fateful encounter, disorientated from the attention Gaultier had shown him -- and still showed him, only now, Cygnus was pale-faced.

But Gaultier had given him a command, and with a start, Cygnus realized he was staring at his lover. Again, he cleared his throat and, with a small nod, closed his eyes and extended a hand, palm upturned and held mid-air. "This is all very unpreced--" he began before interrupting himself for the second time as the key was dropped into his hand. Disbelievingly, he closed his fingers around it, judging it for what it was by touch alone, before finally opening his eyes to look at this most unexpected of objects. Brows knitted briefly together as he stared at the key, only blinking and lifting his gaze slowly to meet Gaultier's piercing one when he felt his fingers on his cheek.

"This is a key." Surprise was evident in his voice, and he sucked briefly down on his lower lip before repeating, "A key, Gaultier. I..." A short, sudden laugh escaped him, and he held up the item in question, peering at it in genuine astonishment. "This I did not see coming. I.. Merlin, Gaultier, I do love how your mind works." With his free hand, he reached up and covered Gaultier's on his face, interlocking their fingers and dragging it down to his mouth, lips that were already curved in the beginnings of a smile parting as he bit lightly down on his knuckles.

A smile of Gaultier's own began to tug at the corners of his lips as he watched Cygnus rather adoringly so. For a moment fingers fell limp against the sudden warmth that enclosed them, and Gaultier couldn't help the quiet sigh that managed to slip through slightly parted lips. "You assumed the worst," there was no rise or fall of his tone to indicate whether or not it was a question, and instead he leaned forward to brush Cygnus' ear lightly before continuing, dwelling not on his previous accusation: "You know I care about you, don't you?"

Words fell hushed and gave into the silence of the room, Gaultier's tongue finding the edge of Cygnus' ear where it began to tease the sensitive skin there. There was always a moment, when Cygnus gave into Gaultier's assault and seemed to melt into him, curve himself against Gaultier's chest, that he loved more than anything. It was this moment Gaultier looked forward to in their meetings, not the quick desperate fucking that always seemed to follow. This moment always proved how much Cygnus cared, whether or not he'd admit it later on.

"It's in the country, where we'll be alone." The teasing continued, his tongue having ceased and quickly replaced with a gentle nibble of lips as they descended down to Cygnus' neck suddenly. As Gaultier's hands fisted themselves in the back of his shirt, urging him as close as possible, did he begin to notice how their chests rose and fell in sync. "In Italy, no less. I doubt either of our wives will know that's where to look."

Held in such proximity, Cygnus simply lowered his head, chin dipping down so that he could nestle his face in the curve where Gaultier's neck and shoulder met. His own hands, one of which maintained a tight, almost possessive grip on the key, traveled slowly over the flat planes of Gaultier's back until they came to rest over his shoulder-blades, where his fingers curled to grip the fabric of his shirt. "I always assume the worst," was his response, his voice muffled.

There would have been more to his reply, something that touched on his own brand of pessimism, but Cygnus put a stopper to those thoughts with a simple inhalation -- a slow drawing of breath as he pressed his face closer against the taller man's chest, breathing him in, the mingling scents of cleanliness and cologne and a hint of spice familiar to him, yet, even after all of these years, still as overwhelming as they had been from the beginning of their relationship. The melting Gaultier so yearned for had certainly occurred here and now, and Cygnus lingered in his arms before straightening and lifting his head.

"I know." A smile appeared on his lips, and he lightly tapped the key against Gaultier's chest. "Alone, Gaultier? So many possibilities, all the things I want to do to you -- when can we go?"

Words were muffled against the skin of Cygnus' neck as he smiled despite himself, the teasing nibbles only briefly ceasing. "So many things you'd like to do to me, mm? What sort of things might those be?" The grip that had found it's way into the back of Cygnus' shirt tightened a moment as Gaultier withdrew and lifted his gaze to those pale grey eyes he'd come to adore; if he wasn't careful the possibility of being lost in them was all too certain.

"We can leave now, if you like." For once, the obligation to his wife, to his Sabine, it didn't matter. There was a sense of longing he felt toward Cygnus now and it was most certainly held in higher regard. "We'll just owl in the morning, there's really no rush." Let it just be about us, Gaultier so desperately wanted to add, instead leaving it unspoken between them as his nose found it's way into Cygnus' hair.

A deep breath left his senses swimming with Cygnus, the smell of his shampoo to the fabric his fingers kept clenched between them. It was all too much, yet still Gaultier desperately wanted more.

Hesitation coursed through Cygnus in a brief wave as Gaultier's suggestion -- now -- reminded him of his own obligations. After all, he'd only just returned from abroad, home again to an expecting wife and rapidly growing daughter, and he preferred to give them some advance warning of his absence rather than just disappearing for the night. But his pause was short-lived; there was something peculiar about Gaultier's expression, as though he were leaving words unsaid. Searchingly, Cygnus met the other man's darker gaze, eyelids finally lowering when he pressed his cheek against Gaultier once more.

"Business meetings can be very impromptu," he said in a mock narration of the letter he would supposedly forward to his wife. "Something came up -- unfinished business with an associate of mine." A reference, of course, to their previous encounter, which had ended sourly and left both of them unfulfilled. Well, then, he intended to pick up where they left off, and continue from there, in this house, where they wouldn't always have to fuck at such a breathless, hurried pace. Cygnus reached up, placing his fingers against Gaultier's jaw to turn his face toward him, smiling now as he regarded him.

"I'd like it. Leave now, so we can, mm, baptize all the rooms -- and the gardens, which I trust there are?"

"Of course, I know how you like them." Leaning into Cygnus' hand, Gaultier shut his eyes firmly and made a small contented noise there in the back of his throat. Fingers unraveled themselves from Cygnus' shirt, stroking lightly along his back before coming to rest gently on each hip. With a teasing smile did he keep his eyes shut, whispering as he pressed close, "there is much to be done, Cygnus. We ought not to wait any longer."

There was something about dropping the responsibilities of a husband, and a father in Cygnus' case, to spend time with one another -- a rush, if it could be describe as such. It was as if they were living in the past, teenagers again who had nothing more to worry about than spending as much time as possible with one another and who might steal the duvet while they sleep. Gaultier enjoyed this, wondered why he had put it off.

"Are you ready?" For a brief moment Gaultier withdrew, lifting his gaze to Cygnus own with a smile that truly indicated how happy he was that the situation played out as it did.

"More than ready. Achingly ready, if you catch my meaning." Less than chaste intentions lay behind the emphasis placed on the words, and Cygnus' eyes all but gleamed with pleasure and, yes, joy as he steadily held Gaultier's gaze. His fingers still lingered on the other man's face, tracing with a light touch the hard line of his jaw, the corners of his lips, his chin; then dropping to adjust the collar of his shirt from where he had creased it.

"Side-along? Or have you connected it to the Floo?" The words were uttered with no noticeable change in tone, but eager impatience was suddenly only too obvious from the way he directed a sharp look at the fireplace, shifting his weight back from foot to foot as he awaited an answer. The sooner they were there, in a place that would be free of the signs of duty and wives, a place that was theirs, the sooner they could take these affectionate caresses a step further.

There were no other words shared between them, and no warning -- instead with a gentle nudge to Cygnus' side did Gaultier urge him further from the door and much more closely to himself. A single arm wrapped itself around Cygnus' waist, pressing them both tightly together as with a whispered spell they apparated away from the confines of the Lestrange study and appeared on the lawn of one country built Italian home. With a smile, Gaultier leaned forward, almost entirely resting his weight against Cygnus as his lips brushed his temple. "We're home."

The words, whispered so quietly, seemed a bit unreal at first. As if this entire image that laid before him now were nothing more than a dream. And perhaps it was, perhaps it was nothing more than a fictional portrayal of what Gaultier wanted -- no, needed -- most: an escape from the sudden amount of responsibilities thrust upon him. From his wife, from his family, from the world. Cygnus offered him that, and so much more. The gift was surely needed to express his appreciation.

Pulling away suddenly did he lift his gaze and motion, with a single sweeping gesture, toward what would have been one of the many bedrooms. "What do you think?"

It was the price of their purity, this thing they both found themselves fighting to evade: the duties, the expectations of heirs and spares. Escape was impossible, unthinkable even, but in these pockets of time, Cygnus found himself relieved of a weight he hadn't even realized pressed down against him; and studying Gaultier before turning his gaze to hungrily take in the sight reminded him how different this was, and how good, this life with someone who had simple, straightforward needs when it came to him.

Evening was darkening the sky, but the house and its grounds were more than visible in the dusky light. What did he think about it? His voice, when he revealed his thoughts, was breathless due, in part, to the apparation, and more importantly, to how overwhelmed he currently was. "It's... perfect. And you are insane. You're-- perfect."

Cygnus took a step forward, head upturned and slightly dipped to the side as he stared at the house. "I think we should go in," he added, turning to direct a meaningful look at Gaultier.

Perfect? Well, of course he was, Gaultier knew this himself since the ripe age of five when even his mother regarded him as such. Since then it was clearly written in how he acted, portrayed himself amongst the others. With Cygnus' admission, however, perfection suddenly took on much more meaning; Gaultier couldn't help the unknowing smile given in response as a hand firmly clamped down around Cygnus' own. "After you."

With a brief squeeze to Cygnus' hand did Gaultier's drop and settle to the small of his back, urging him forward and into the newly purchased home. Each piece of furniture had been chosen specifically by those who modeled homes as a profession -- if Gaultier was to do this, as a gift at any rate, he'd be sure it was done properly. The woods matched, the cloths each related to the theme of the room, and the lighting was neither too bright nor dim: just as he, it was perfect.

"It's not quite as big as I'd have liked, but I imagine we can manage with what we have here."

The slighter man was clearly affected by this gesture of affection. Lips that were typically further thinned into a line of neutrality now parted in a slight o of wonder and curiosity, the lower moistened by his tongue or agitatedly pressed down upon by his teeth as he absently disengaged himself from Gaultier's warm hand and began to examine the rooms.

The decor was altogether different from what he would have chosen, and yet, in a word, it was perfection. This was nothing like his own home -- no, Leverer House was all cold marble and long, empty hallways -- this, with the rich browns and the Italian design sensibilities, was warm and -- theirs. Already Cygnus was pulling at his tie, two slim fingers caught between the knot and loosening it as he finally turned to face Gaultier, a smile tugging his lips upward.

"Not quite as big? We could hide from each other for hours here -- not that that is quite what I'm suggesting we do." With a final snap of his wrist, the tie was finally undone, and with a sigh, as though released of some constraint, Cygnus tugged it off, popping the first two buttons of his shirt open as he returned to stand in front of Gaultier. "You're a lunatic," he continued, resting the palms of his hands on Gaultier's chest, fingers slightly curled to dig at the material, "and I-- I want to know where the master bedroom is."

A hand lifted itself suddenly, fisting his fingers there in the back of his shirt to urge Cygnus one step closer while meeting his gaze with yet another grin. "Two doors to your left," came the whisper, his own steps beginning to guide them both from where they lingered in the lounge toward Cygnus' desired destination. There was silence between them that brief moment before Gaultier turned his head just so, capturing Cygnus' lips in his own in a heated kiss of passion.

With his tongue darting forward, teasing the sensitive skin of Cygnus' bottom lip did Gaultier kick the door open to the master bedroom, withdrawing only once Cygnus' legs brushed the edge of the bed. Silken sheets made up the rather massive four poster and Gaultier couldn't wait a moment longer to shove his lover down upon it, to fist his own fingers in the soft material; a single shove was given to Cygnus' chest, and as he smiled down upon him did he pounce as though he were an adolescent.

A burst of startled laughter escaped Cygnus as he was suddenly pushed down onto the bed, and then deliciously crushed underneath Gaultier's body. It was almost a pity, ruining the perfect silken bedspread with his shoes as he pushed himself further along the mattress -- almost, but not quite, because now, with Gaultier stretched across him, he regretted nothing.

"Come here, closer." Cygnus reached up, pressing his hands on either side of Gaultier's face, then sliding them upward so that his fingers raked through the man's thick sable locks. His legs raised and then were hooked around Gaultier's, feet pressing against his calves as he twisted slightly, making a sound of mock admonishment when he could feel the other's hardness. "This is pleasant."
