That was obviously not the point. Besides, the reverse of that has already been done with major consequences. If you're not going to read the whole thing? I'm not going to bother with you anymore. In a battle of wits, you're unarmed and therefore not worth my time.

You want to know the truth? The truth is that it doesn't get better. Doesn't matter if you're straight, queer, alien, or French. Nothing ever gets better, the rules change a little...maybe you think it is better, but everyone out there still judges you for what you are.

Yeah, I think its funny. I've got my reason to laugh at it too, but I don't see a damn reason to justify it to you.

If you want to think I'm an shithead, go on then. Doesn't matter.

It does get better though. The civil rights movement. The right for women to vote. People stood up for a cause that was right over one that was antiquated and wrong, and fought for something that was better. And they won. Yes, some people will always judge, but that doesn't mean that you stop fighting for something you believe in. Heck, women in the early 1900s fought for the right to wear pants and were judged for it before it became accepted. Now you don't even look twice at a girl in blue jeans.

And so what if people judge you. Look at Alexander the Great. Look at Richard the Lionhearted. Hell, we learned about Albus Dumbledore in history classes and he was apparently gay. These people were a part of world-changing history. They were also homosexual. It's a part of who they are, and they might have been judged for it, but that didn't stop them. Why should it stop anyone else? And who out there has the right to tell someone how they can and cannot live their lives?

You're absolutely right that you don't need to justify anything to me. I laugh at off color jokes that I shouldn't, same as lots of other people. I don't think you're a shithead. I think that you riled a lot of people up - myself included - over a really serious topic that hits close to home for a lot of people.

If I can make a suggestion which obviously you don't have to take? Try not to antagonize the people on campus so much? Just because you think something is funny, doesn't mean that everyone else is going to share your views. Especially when it's something that is such a touchy subject with so many people here on campus. As I am sure you've noticed.

Look, this might sound funny, but I'm here to talk if you want to.

Look, I know, alright. That's just...it is still a lie. It doesn't just get better for everyone. You have a much higher percentage of homosexual teens engaging in five or more risky behaviors every day. Over half of them started smoking by thirteen, and of those most will never be accepted by their community, family, or both.

Painting the wall in pretty colours doesn't just make it better, it doesn't change that you still have adults and teens alike attacked by gangs for their sexuality. People preaching on streets that your nothing more than garbage. Those that had their lives improved were lucky, but why sugar coat it?

Nothing gets better for people just because you go out into the world and can put rose coloured glasses on. Yeah, its a touchy subject...yet notice how no one does anything until someone else is a dickwad. Shouldn't prevention be proactive instead of retroactive?

What would we have to talk about?

How do you know so much about

I know. You're right about the statistics. But what makes you think that no one was doing anything until the bad things started happening? Just because people don't shout it from the rooftops and make grandiose gestures to their cause doesn't mean they're not working to foster hope, and understanding.

Look at our own pride union. They were together, supporting each other and trying to get the word out about tolerance and acceptance before all this happened. These incidents are a call to continue what we're doing, and to maybe get a bit louder in support of those who need it.

Should we stop trying to help those who need it just because it's difficult? In that case, people should stop walking for breast cancer, and stop donating to AIDS research.

And... nothing, I guess. I just meant if you felt like talking. But I guess not.

The Pride Union just wants to hug people, and say it is cool to be gay. It is like some sort of fucked up badge of honor around here. You go to school in a unique environment, with a whole other set of rules. And while yes, perhaps what I did was uncalled for but how is my single statement, harsh as it might be, any more of a bullying response than those given to me?

Quinn flat out suggested I jump of a bridge myself. Yes. I can see how this union, and the student body in general, is working towards making the world a better place.

Breast cancer and AIDs research are also a touch irrelevant to this. You do not choose, in most cases, to have either. Yet you choose to make certain lifestyle choices. Just as you choose to take your life.

Heh. Everyone wants me to talk about things, I don't see the point.

You made the statement and posted the video and you're actually startled by responses like that?

The act of an individual is not necessarily the act of a group, you know. People get angry, hurt, frustrated, and they sometimes take it out on the person who made them feel that way.

If you think that being gay is a choice, then you need to think again and maybe do a little research. You're born gay. Just like you're born a leftie, or with webbed feet, or a good singer, or dark skinned. It's who you are, not some decision. After all you've just said, do you really think that someone would willingly choose this lifestyle? Risk suicide, ridicule, beatings, death, being disowned, estranged from people who don't understand, torture, just to live a certain way by choice? Where are you getting your information, Leon?

You are born, created, you enter this world, with your sexuality as a part of you already. It. Is. NOT. A. Choice. Anyone who tells you different is lying to you.

Talk or not, the offer is still there. All knowledge is worth having, and maybe we could learn something if we talked. Or not. The choice is yours. You know where my room is.

I'm not surprised, I just call it hypocritical.

It is still a choice. To act on it.

Leon... How can you expect someone to deny who they are? It's asking someone to never love, never enjoy themselves, never be open and honest with someone else about who they are. That's like... like freezing your emotions and not letting them thaw. You can't stay sane that way. Sooner or later someone who does that is bound to explode, and that's not good at all.

How can you expect someone to lie to every single person they ever get close to? Parents? Friends? Siblings? Lovers who can never really be lovers in the truest sense? To never be with the person you truly want to be with... it would drive me mad.

Anyone who would deny themselves the opportunity to be who they are... I pity them. Truly pity them. Choice or no.

And what if that's not what you want? That you don't want to be gay? If you have the fucking choice, you can fix it...and no one ever has to know.

Being happy with who you are? Yeah, sure. I'd rather be someone else, someone normal. That would make me happy.

Leon this sounds an awful lot like
Is there something you want to say? Or
You're getting a bit defensive, maybe

...are YOU

Leon, this is private between us. I would never betray a confidence, even if we aren't exactly friends, and in fact especially for that reason. I would swear to that, and even enter a magically binding contract if needed. You certainly don't need to tell me, or even respond, but I need to ask.

Do you know someone who is in this situation? Someone close to you? You?

Honestly, I'm only trying to help. Feel free to tell me to fuck off.

If it IS you... oh poor Leon...

Oh holy shit I had no idea...

I am so sorry for all the things I said. I really didn't know. But it doesn't make it any less true.

Leon, I think you should talk about this to someone, maybe. Again, feel free to just tell me to fuck off here.

Look, this is who you are. It is normal, for you. And for a lot of other people around the world.

The offer still stands to talk, and I would like to add that I do actually want to talk to you, if you'll let me. If you want to, of course. I know we're not entirely close, but I'm more than willing to sit down with you and talk things out.

And no, I'm not happy, Leon. If this is really your life then I feel bad for whatever it is that made things so difficult for you. No one should have to go through this, let alone by themselves. I'm here for you if you want.

Later.
