[waiting to be picked up outside her apartment, saving Hashirama the trouble of walking up five flights of stairs to her door since there's no elevator here. is wearing a simple little black dress, hugging her arms close and holding onto her clutch purse, feeling out of place looking so nice while people walk around so casually. isn't used to going on dates like this, but has been getting used to it, and of course has a mission tonight but that can wait... is looking forward to these little dates.]

Ah, ah, work and play should be separated right? Don't kill our romance when it's just starting.

[takes and hand takes eyes off the road being very cautious of what is ahead and kisses her hand.] There could be some of that cocky male testosterone in me still.

... [eyes the road. it's the woman's job to be smart when the male is dumb.] Let's hope it doesn't get us killed. I don't think I'm ready for Romeo and Juliet yet.

I'm a very safe driver. [eyes back on the road.] I have no intentions of bringing something like that. There are still plenty things I have left to do in this world. [like arrest a certain man >|]

Yeah? Me too... I need to go to Indonesia into the rainforest and find a Rafflesia, and see if they really smell as bad as the experts say.

What do they say it smells like? [can't imagine any flower smelling bad at all.]

Rotting flesh. To attract carrion beetles and flies. Most flowers use bees and butterflies to pollinate, but not these.

What is their purpose if not to pollinate? [very interesting.]

They're a carnivorous plant. They eat the beetles.

That will really attract them in if that is the case. Smelling sweet won't bring in what they are after so rotting flesh makes more sense.

What about working? Is there any chance you could get a work visa there? You could still make money and then go and explore at the same time which would be less of a burden to save for a holiday than grand.

I understand that. It's good to have something to strive for, something to look forward to after it is all done. I don't know what that will be for me yet. Who knows, I might get bored. [laughs, not that it's funny.]

Bored of the after. Once that is gone, what is left. I believe it is worth it not for myself but for so many other people. I want it to be over with... [and if it was, could he let it go?] What do you wonder? [caught that.]

... Ah, almost the same, once it's over where do you go from there. When you devote yourself entirely to a person... or thing, when it's, or they... is gone, or no longer has a use for you, what happens then?

Moving on would be the logical thing to do. Once you get over one thing you move onto the next and use that to pre-occupy yourself until that is finished and you move on again. But all of those years devoted to one thing and then, it's gone. Is there really a way to fill that gap it leaves behind? The only choice you have really is to accept it but it's a scary thought.

You're just like those detectives you see on TV... hunting the bad guy for years and years. But that's TV, no criminal can get away for that long, right? You're probably after some huge organization like the mafia or triad or yakuza, right?

You are intuitive. It is something like that. Most criminals who act in small groups or alone turn on each other and slip up easily. The larger ones have loyalty and can't be easily broken. Even after the head dies, the others will still remain loyal.

One bad guy is easy to catch, so if you hadn't caught him yet, that would mean it's several guys. I watch a lot of cop dramas... I didn't know it was really like that. I know it's your job and all and I should take it more seriously... but it sounds cool. A guy devoting himself to a greater cause like that... it's so admirable. [pretend to not be the wife who leaves him because of his job, check and done.]

[if only his ex saw it that way.] It does have it's downsides, not always cool. Sometimes, I will be gone for days and get called out late at night. [hint, hint. this could be the future so if you don't like that, run.] But a doctor has that as well. It's all a hazard of the job. [waits to see if its still cool.]

It's still exciting. To say your husband-- er, not that I'm imposing-- but that your husband is off at a stakeout, and you can't share details since it's confidential. Everybody's job has hazards, but to have that kind of dedication to your job is rare. Not many people realize how much goes into keeping them safe... it's admirable, really.
