Jenny had done as little thinking about Sera as she could since returning to school. She wasn't
mad at her friend, per se, so much as unable to handle dealing with her. Which was no fault of Sera's, and only made Jenny feel worse about the whole situation. It was Jenny who was being weird, making things complicated, and causing drama. She was being avoidant, distant, and she wasn't sure what else to even try. Avoiding Sera wasn't working, that much was sure. They had hung out since the summer, but it hadn't seemed the same since then. How was she supposed to sit next to her supposed best friend and just watch television, knowing all of the while that the other girl wanted to kiss her?
And that, frankly, maybe she wanted to kiss her back.
Jenny had always tried to be drama-free, to be that one mature high school girl, the responsible one, but since the summer passed them by.. well, that felt like an impossibility.
With her unresolved issues with Charlie, her time.. spent with Quinn, adding Sera into that mix only made things worse. Mostly, of course, because she didn't want to see the younger girl get hurt. Most people might not have viewed Jenny as the type to get hurt with, but things weren't quite as appearances may have seemed. Jenny didn't intentionally hurt people, but she couldn't deny doing it. And she didn't want Sera to ever end up on the casualty end.
That was how the avoiding had begun, because there was no other option. She wasn't even sure what she felt, and she took little to no time to consider it, just trying to spare Sera's feelings all of the while instead. Her own feelings were not even her problem, until she really thought on it, which she tried not to do.
Today was another day of not thinking about it, of trying to avoid her problems, and just enjoy class. She was decked out in her own
house colors, her ipod in the pocket of her jeans, and her earphones in each ear, leaving her mostly dead to the world. Her backpack hung over one shoulder as she walked.
When Sera grabbed her, the blonde flinched a little, whipping around to see who it was, and feeling her stomach sinking a bit. "Oh hey," she managed, hoping she didn't sound as awkward as she felt, as she removed one earbud so she could hear the brunette better. "What's up?"
